Zakir Rose Garden (Chandigarh)

A big garden you can spend plenty of time at. Nice jogging/walking tracks, clean toilets, a new underpass connecting the rose garden with sector 17. On one side it also has the famouse Raju paranthe wala stall where you can feed your hunger cravings. Must visit place.

Perfect time to visit this place is Mid January to March during the rose plants are bloomed. Other wise nothing to visit there.

I visited the rose garden in Chandigarh with my family last week. It is supposed to be the largest rose garden in Asia, but I was disappointed by the lack of roses. There were very few roses and they were not very colorful or fragrant. The garden looked more like a regular park with swings and slides for kids and a fountain for decoration. The only positive thing was that my son enjoyed playing on the slides and swings for an hour. I think the rose garden needs more attention and improvement to live up to its name and reputation.

Rose garden, lady seat are located close by and one can cover both in a single visit. Rose garden has an entry fee and Rs30/- head for adults. And parking free of cost. This garden has lot of rose plants but during our visit in August month there were very few roses as it was not season. Those who want to see lot of roses can visit during November, December which is season and roses bloom. Otherwise the park is quite big with lot of trees and plants theme structures for photo lovers to take lots of pictures

You can see almost all varieties of rose here, good place to have walk in morning and there is no ticket, don't visit in evening, there is no proper lighting and there are many insects,

Well laid out garden however almost bare if you visit in non-season for roses. The biggest surprise is for such a big garden spread in acers there is no public toilet on or near the place.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, is a botanical garden in Chandigarh, India and spread over 30 acres (120,000 m2) of land, with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different species. Named after India's former president, Zakir Hussain and created in 1967 under the guidance of Mohinder Singh Randhawa, Chandigarh's first chief commissioner, the garden has the distinction of being Asia's largest. The garden has not only roses, but also trees of medicinal value. Some of the medicinal plants that can be spotted here are bel, bahera, harar, camphor and yellow gulmohar. The rose plants have been planted in carved-out lawns and flower beds.

Itself more like an average park, good for visiting in winters with family, friends or maybe as couples. It has kid's area, roses all around the park, open air gym and outside the park, at exit there's a small canteen for refreshments too. Worth visiting for once or maybe regularly for walks.

It had been almost a jungle in 1968 but now it is the best Garden to enjoy the fragrance of Rose flowers.

Beautiful place. Rose garden is properly cleaned. I have been come here many times and flowers over here looks so beautiful but one time when I went here, flowers are present at that time. It depends upon the weather. People used to come here for walking, running and even parents also used to take their children to this Greenery place to spend valuable time with them.

Beautiful and charming as a flower would be. Roses Multiverse. Avoid sunny days in summer for visiting. Better for early morning and evening walks and chill time.

As a resident of Chandigarh, many times I visit to the rose garden, it is the largest rose garden in Asia, there is Thousands of variety of roses, very beautiful and neat n clean park of Chandigarh, every year there is a rose festival in February end, in which thousands of people come to see the beauty of rose garden. Wonderful place for mental peace and for family and couples.

I visited Rose Garden on 22nd June 2021 and dure to Heat waves of Summer most of the rose plants were burnt. But staff there was trying to maintain greenery and was maintaining the Grass. It seems that govt.has not given required budget or focus to this garden. It could have been more beautiful and managed.

My whole family liked this rose garden alot. This is the best place for a good picnic, some family time. Best time to visit this place is in February and don't ever miss the rose festival. If someone is having some liking for roses, this is the place. You will find a huge variety of roses here. I wish if they could make a small selling point also for roses.

A refreshing park with well kept grass and a huge variety of rose plants, Largest collection in Asia. Very tidy with trash bins allocated generously along the paths that wind through the Park. Recommended heavily for picnics or just an educated tour to learn about the various rose varieties. Note that the flowers are not permitted to pluck, and failure to abide by this simple rule attracts a Rs500 fine (about $7 United States Dollars). I do not know if this is helpful to anyone but, It is close to the Rock garden and Sukhna Lake, both very good places to visit also and I was able to visit all three places in one day using a scooter for mobility. I would recommend the Rose garden to anyone, anytime.

Although the place is peaceful and green. It was not that special to visit. Yes in times of rose Festival it looks beautiful. But in normal days it's just like a beautiful park for morning jogging. U can click beautiful pictures here.

A very pleasant Garden near to sector 17, and connected by the Subway. Best time to visit is Garden is spring when on the roses are blooming. The Garden is huge and has many facilities like canteen, benches, fountain stream etc for the blissful day out.

There was no thing to look, no one flower was healthy, no indication for first time visitors, too boring.

The most renowned park of Chandigarh. Very nicely designed and maintained. The place becomes all the more happening during Annual Rose Festival in end of February. Big open space. Probably the best collection of various varieties of Rose. Other plants are also in abundance. Small time snacks are also available.

Have been there during the rose festival in February and to be true I didn't a single full bloomed rose there. It was a complete disappointment

Located in the heart of city. Very easy to locate and reach. Has a spacious parking place. Must visit place for nature n flower lovers. Has a big collection of roses. Nice and clean and well maintained. No entry fee is needed. Green and nicely maintained big lawn Makes it ever more charming. U can easy spend few hours here.has nice clean walk ways for the hiking and jogging.

Visit rose gardens during January to April. Entry is free. There will be a festival during February every year. Public in huge number visit during winter season in North India. Mornings and evenings public come in huge numbers to do exercise like walking, Brisk walking and running.
