Went with family, restaurant was referred by a relative, food was good, had dumplings hongkong chicken fried rice and noodles.was a bit disappointed by the ambience and over all atmosphere.it didn't seem to be place frequented by people.when we went it was around 8.30 in the evening and we were the only one in the restaurant.later 2 more families came.waiter was good but the cashier was arrogant.at the time of billing felt the staff was forcing us for a tip
This place is dated yet poular among the loyalists. Price points are defence colony ones, but the ambiance is not. With new modern restaurants coming up in the vicinity, this place needs a makeover and quite fast.
Visited this restaurant last week. The food tastes great and the ingredients are fresh. It is more like an Indian fusion with Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Tried the spring rolls, chilli chicken balls, sliced chicken in black bean sauce, along with chilli garlic fried rice. Portion sizes are larger than most Chinese restaurants. Even the non vegetarian options were quite flavourful. Staff is friendly and courteous. Resturant space is small, but cute with an old school vibe. Has a small television for watching matches while enjoying food and a small bar. Service is comparatively slower. Ample parking space outside, and restaurant is quite easy to find.
Delicious food at this cute place which has not changed over the years. Felt very happy that I used to come to this place earlier with my school friends, Uni friends and this time came with my family but the place has still great vibes. Well done team Aka Saka!
Aka Saka is an iconic Chinese/Oriental restaurant that has been around since 1973 and hence a reminder of us schoolboys hanging around Def Col Market in the early eighties. The food has always been amazing and the place seems exactly as it was 3 decades ago.definitely worth a visit once more and checkout for yourself. Talumein Soup Swwet corn or Hot n Sour soups. Vegetable Hakka noodles Chilli chicken and Stir fried veggies.
Come on, “a house of Japanese and Chinese cuisine”, more like Tibetan food. I hate food misrepresentation. I will post pictures of the food I ordered and you can judge by yourself. Everything is bland and nothing close to being authentic. Like authenticity 2/10. At least bring it to a 5-6 then it’s fine because I understand we are not in Japan or china. There is no rice in phatkhrapao nor a fried egg and it’s full of liquid. The mapo tofu I don’t even have the words to describe just look at the pictures, the same goes for sukiyaki, it all taste like tibetan thukpa.
The restaurant is a bit dark but otherwise really good food and good service. Genuine options on East and South East Asian food. A suggestionnis they increase their variety of dishes to include more options.
Food is great and ambience too reminds me of “Tangra” kolkatta. Guess what … Indians never created “Indianised Chinese Food” it was rather created in Tangra by the Chinese living there when their tanneries were shut down!
This is an old and established Chinese restaurant in Defence Colony. Have been eating here since last 40 years! Food and service is excellent. The restaurant could do with a new interior as it is now looking fairly run down. However, for old Delhi residents there is nostalgia attached to this place and it's great value for money. Generous portions and piping hot freshly prepared food.
Went here to have some good Japanese cuisine and especially some good sushi but to my surprise it wasn't on the menu. The chicken preparation I ordered weren't that good, just a matter of personal taste though.
Indeed it’s an old restaurant which is supposed to be one of the best place but current level is very bad, useless food, spring roll cooked in old used oil, regret to be here, dirty old washrooms
This used to be my go to place for Chinese, the food was invariably good and the helpings generous. Last night was a big let down — hot sour soup not available, manchow soup and the chicken & Chinese greens starter completely tasteless. Shifting my allegiance to the van in the corner of the market.
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Delhi where I have been visiting for the last 35 years. Portions are large. Talumein soup, American chopsuey, darsian and fried wantons recommended. Just wish they had not recently increased their prices but still with a limited order, there is usually a lot to eat
This 40 year old restaurant is one of the finest cosy comforting places for Chinese and Japanese food. Pork in bamboo shoot is an excellent pick for a wholesome meal with some chicken hakka noodles
Awesome food even after so many years. Was visiting the restaurant after 20 years and so happy to confirm that their standards and quality are still the same.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there! Highly recommended of course for authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisine!
It's one of the oldest in Defence colony. But aging of resturant is shown. The Japanese menu is limited upto appetizers only rest all is regular Local Indianised Chinese. One skip same if you have better options in hand.
Food was very bad, standard has gone down terribly. After placing order, one of the items was left behind, ie springrolls. When it came it was cold and soggy, have enclosed picture. Very bad food no taste, don’t enjoy.
AMAZING is the word for this place. Great taste, good quantity, friendly and professional staff. Do try the Talumin Soup here. It is the best you can get in Delhi, in my opinion. Prices are on a higher side (as you expect from any restaurant in Def Col).
Food was Average. Not the typical Chinese taste. They should have Chinese Chefs or Indian Chefs with experience of cooking Chinese food. I had booked a table at 10.00 AM today for 8 guests for 1.30 pm. We arrived at 1 20 pm and were made to sit in two different tables. They should have not made a reservation if they could not keep the table reserved. We could have gone elsewere. The tip of the iceberg was when the waiter DEMANDED a tip of 600/- against a bill of 5900/-. I had tipped him generously but he expected much higher and SAID SO. In front of my guests this waiter embarassed me. This is AKA SAKA in DEFENCE COLONY for you. A bad experience I will not forget for a long time.
The food is excellent as always and that is why we keep coming here quite often and also order from home. But being a regular customer as the staff also knows I don't get any discount on the food bill.
An old favourite from the 1970s. Delectable Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately, even this old timer has succumbed to adding Indian spices and chillies in some of the dishes. But, it's still pretty good. They have a bar on the first floor and a party room on the second. Unfortunately the first and second floors have been temporarily closed for all shops and restaurants in Defence Colony Market on the municipal corporation. Let's hope they open soon. In the meanwhile, Aka Saka continues to serve beer and other alcoholic drinks in the restuarant at ground level.
Superb food quality. The taste of the food was awesome. We have ordered chow mein black bean paste, stear dey vegetable in garlic sauce. Excellent one.
It's a cozy place, easy to find. The service is fast and polite. Menu is a mix of Chinese and Japanese food but everything was really tasty, the green tea pot was delicious. Good for a Friday dinner night. Try the sukiyaki pork or chicken.
Simply amazing. Nice food served in unique style without any compromise either in quality or in quantity. My best experience in Japanese foods so far among non 5 star restaurants
