A bit dingy for a library, it's in a basement ngl that was not a nice surprise, also, don't bother carrying a device to work on, they don't get any internet service down there.
I registered myself one year ago. The online access doesn’t show up. Whenever asked for articles, they took forever to respond to mails. Never showed up on calls. Pathetic experience.
It is a good place. Surrounding is soo peaceful. A good place if you are fond of reading. There is a huge varieties of books available but most of those are of American authors.
It's one of the best libraries to visit if you are planning for your GRE/GMAT or any other such exams which helps in getting admission in US. Also, the library serves as a goldmine for verocious readers and personals looking for American authors /keen to read about American Culture/Society. Laptops not allowed in the premises. Staff is courteous and helpful.
Amazing place for studying and reading in Delhi. Easy to reach and staff is also very polite and supportive. Also, you will find good collection of American books in the library.
It is one of the oldest Library in Delhi. Although the volume of books and reference materials have decreased in the past few years. Yet many readers find the materials very unique and useful.
Best place to study. If you are preparing for any exams then you are gonna to love this place. Given one star less for there guards they are really strict one of them don't know manners at all.
American Center organizes quite a few events on entrepreneurship, social causes and also startups. Nexus which is an incubator is also located here. Photography is strictly not allowed due to security reasons and entry into this place needs a prior approval and you will need a valid Government ID card to get in.
Staff here is very friendly and always welcome you with a bright smile. Had a great time visiting the center last week!
American Center is just Amazzzinggg. The events here are very informative, educational and full of new ideas, intellect and much more. Moreover I love the people at American center they are very friendly in nature. May god bless them all.
NICE PLACE, CALM AND COOL AS SAME AS OTHER LIBRARY NO CROWD DIFFERENT BOOKS ARE CLASSIFIED AS 1_ LANGUAGE books 2_Geography and history 3_Science books 4_Culture and civilization 5_Foreign relation of America 6_Fiction book AND SO much
IMAC and MacBooks for Internet browsing
If you want to visit you should have one id No charge for studying books but if you want to get books from library you need to take membership (I have no membership but it is 400 for a year I think)
Last time I visit few days ago and got a number of magazine related to Apollo mission of America in 1969 Got a view that what a enthusiasm of talents they have I REGOT FEW QUOTES of first man on moon ie Niel Armstrong'Eagle have landed, one small step for a man and one giant leap for mankind.
I cannot believe that entry into the premises with a laptop is prohibited. I was unable to sign up for a library membership because I could never enter the premises. It was preposterous for to assume I could use a laptop in a library, it is unheard of. Guess I won't be a member of this library. For the first time I felt bad about having stuff.
The Library is well stacked if you are looking for material to write SAT or GMAT. Otherwise the books largely pertain to American continent. It is also an ideal place to study. A major drawback: American Centre does not let you eat your own food in the premises. You can either access the canteen or you must exit the building completely and then come back.
Visited the American center on mela day. It was wonderful experience better than imagination. Very well planned and structured. Has excellent library too.
American expat here. I went for a business class, they made us stand outside in the heat waiting past when the class was supposed to begin then they wouldn’t allow me inside because I have a small camera in my bag.after all the waiting in the heat. I was feeling super homesick and disappointed. Moving to a new country is hard. So maybe will attend an event at the American embassy but won’t come back here
The American Center library is open to public for reference, research or just exploring the collection. However, membership allows patrons a wider selection of privileges. To be a library member one must be a resident of India and be 16 years of age or above. The American Library New Delhi offers local and postal membership to individuals and institutions in North India (includes states of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttaranchal).
First of all, it is not having an atmosphere of library. Its very noisy. Secondly, it is off on Sunday and monday. Sunday is the day when students are free. So, what's the matter of opening it when it is not available in weekends. And thirdly, we cannot sit there for more than 4 hours. If someone wants to study for more, so he/she is not allowed
American centre and library best to know about America n culture. I came here first time in 1993. USIS conducts cross cultural programs. One such Magzine SPAN publishing here. I went USA in June 25th to July 25th 1996 in Drug Education and Prevention Program through this centre, that time program officer E. A. Puma and Manjeet kaur was there.
Sotuated inside the American Centre, which may be embassy. There is enough security checking led by the American itself. Sorry not too much like that of metro station. The majority of the staffs are Indians. The library is not a bigger one with the books of only American authors. There are only four or five table sets to sit with a computer section with around 15 systems. Great envio!
The center is awesome but the security check is like pain in the ass. I can't imagine how foolish is the guidelines made by the American. They do not accept the digital aadhar card but when I took the printout of the same they accepted it, but the digital aadhar card which is authorised by the government and you can not fake. But printed Aadhar card seriously, you do not check if it is real or photoshop. Apart from this I liked the center, security check I understand but this ID part reduced one star.
Had a great experience, interior's of the building are amazing, while i was attending a event there mock drill started, that shows how efficient these guys are when it comes to safety practices

Not a library, an American institute or more like a Secret nuclear warehouse, things which are prohibited inside, data cable, charger, power bank, pen drives, tabs/ipads, laptop, etc almost every thing is ban to carry inside, institute remain close for most of the time usually for 2-3weeks without specific reason, lack of resources, 90% books n journals are based on American history, art, culture, if you want to do eclectic reading this is a wrong place, sometime place get too much crowed, members have to sit on the floor, the staff is rude, usually they don't allow you to do ur own stuff, they jst want to push their resources on you
Must visit place for reading lovers. A huge and diverse options. Enjoy free wi-fi, sometime movie screening, very comfortable and co operative staff. Neat and clean, well arrangements for book reader.
Only mobile allowed to carry.
Important- No electronic devices allowed, even a pendrive and power banks are strictly not allowed to carry inside. Also no option for deposit at reception.
