It's an NGO which is working towards providing employment to Women in different ways. They collect contributions in the form of wearable clothes, shoes, study materials, usable electronic items, sports goods, musical instruments, etc. We were amazed to see how well each section was segregated and managed with ample staffing.
Products they make are all eco friendly and re-usable. Everyone who feels giving back to the society must connect with them as they have multiple centers in the country.
Goonj is a well-known non-governmental organization (NGO) based in India that is dedicated to addressing the basic needs of underprivileged communities and promoting sustainable development. Founded in 1999 by Anshu Gupta, Goonj has been actively working towards poverty alleviation and humanitarian relief across various states in India.
Goonj operates on the principle of "Cloth for Work, " which emphasizes the value of utilizing untapped resources within communities. The organization collects and repurposes underutilized urban material such as clothing, household goods, and other essentials, transforming them into valuable resources for the marginalized and economically disadvantaged.
One of the significant initiatives of Goonj is its "Vastra Samman" program. Under this program, Goonj collects donated clothing from urban areas and distributes them to rural communities in need. This approach not only addresses the clothing needs of the underprivileged but also instills dignity and a sense of self-worth among recipients. Goonj ensures that clothing is not distributed as charity but as a resource that can be earned through community participation in developmental activities.
Another prominent program initiated by Goonj is "Rahat, " which focuses on disaster relief and rehabilitation. During natural disasters and emergencies, Goonj provides immediate relief by supplying essentials like clothing, hygiene kits, and other necessities to affected communities. Goonj's approach involves creating disaster relief material from urban material to ensure a sustainable and timely response.
In addition to relief and rehabilitation efforts, Goonj actively works towards community development through its "Dignity for Work" program. The organization encourages and supports community-led projects that address local issues such as sanitation, infrastructure development, education, and women's empowerment. These initiatives aim to foster self-reliance and uplift communities by involving them in decision-making and implementation processes.
Goonj's work has garnered recognition both nationally and internationally. The organization has received numerous awards and accolades for its innovative approaches and impactful interventions. It has also established partnerships with various corporations, government bodies, and other NGOs to amplify its reach and impact.
Goonj's commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and its unique approach to utilizing resources make it a distinguished NGO in India. Through its multifaceted programs and initiatives, Goonj continues to make a significant difference in the lives of marginalized communities, promoting social inclusion, and addressing the basic needs of those in need.

Goonj aims to build an equitable relationship of strength, sustenance and dignity between the cities and villages using the under-utilized urban material as a tool to trigger development with dignity, across the country.

Using urban discard as circular economy for development in rural India, keeping dignity of the receiver on top. Amazing. Wonderful idea and implementation pan India.
This is a large"family" with a social purpose. Visit them to understand the mind-boggling spectrum of activities. It is not just "what" they do, it is also "how" they do. Very unique - unbelievable! But it's there for all to see! God Bless Anshu Sir and team!
It's a place to contribute for people in need. Professional staff. Explains everything as to how our donation is managed. You can donate anything. Books, Clothes, Toys, Utensils

I recently visited this NGO personally and I think this NGO must be given 6/5 star rating. Such a unique way to help and support needy people without loosing their dignity. I literally wanted to salute the founder of this NGO.
This organisation I love much because it helps the people who are in trouble like as natural disasters and also helps poor people to provide them a lot of livelihood facilities to make their lives a little bit easier. Amd all this things are possible because of humanity help.
An awesome initiative by Goonj for the orphans. Really appreciate there work. I went there to contribute with my clothes that I don't needed/wear.saw ladies working on sewing machine, some were preparing food, a teacher was taking the classes, in reception area they have a library made up of donated books. Heart warming feeling it was.
Warm welcome by Sandeep. They are working in organized way. All collection material received by volunteers are further segregated and they also label it. Also all food material distributed to needy destination. Most heartwarming thing is they work on Cloth for work. Needy people will get Cloth as a reward when they something for themselves. Like pond cleaning, road cleaning etc.
Nice helpful staff, they showed me how clothes are processed and what they do with clothes which are not in good shape. Instead of throwing old clothes (be in any state) we should give to such organisations. This is real help to society.
Goonj is an well flourished NGO operating across India. Need appreciations to this organisation, since they make use of the unused/thrown away products to usable products. Bags, dress, mats, files, wallets, baskets, and many more. Really amazing and beautiful. These products and worth too. The marvellous thing they do is the making of napkins for women in the underdeveloped sectors of India. Also the used clothes received and very well treated before it is been given. It's not given as a gift, but given as a reward to their effort in some area or recognition to some activities. This makes more value for the goods given. Appreciate this organisation. Do support such NGO, many work in small building in remote areas.
They are doing great work. They are working for all humans I.e. Children, youth, old age for water, food, medical, education, shelter etc. Also supporting humanity during natural disasters.
