Worst experience waited almost 1 hour outside the restaurant at 40 degree finally decided to go somewhere else. Totally wastage of time no management for customers
Saravana Bhavan captivated me with its unparalleled popularity, evident in the extensive queue that formed outside the restaurant. The anticipation built during the wait was rewarded with a culinary experience that exceeded expectations. The standout dish, without a doubt, was the ghee dosas, a gastronomic masterpiece that added a layer of brilliance to the overall dining affair.
While the thali offered a satisfactory variety, it was the Rava khichadi that left a lasting impression with its delightful and nuanced flavors. The establishment undeniably claims the title of the best South Indian restaurant in Delhi, boasting a culinary prowess that resonates with authenticity and quality.
With a capacity to accommodate over 100 patrons simultaneously, Saravana Bhavan provides a spacious and vibrant dining atmosphere. However, a word of caution for weekend visits, where the popularity peaks and a wait of 45 minutes to an hour is likely. On other days, the waiting time is more manageable, ranging from 15 to 25 minutes, making it a convenient choice for those seeking a delectable South Indian feast in the heart of Delhi.
They provide authentic South Indian meals. You can try their wife range of dosas. The taste is good. The restaurant has good seating space also but during peak hours you may find yourself waiting in queue for getting a table. The rush says it all about the authenticity and taste. Must visit place for South Indian food lovers.
The last time I visited this place was almost 5 years ago. Luckily we didn't have to wait as long to get inside this time, and we were quickly served with water and our order taken.
The food was good but mt favourite was the milk mysorepak, although the ghee mysorepak is worth sampling as well. The dosas were crisp and the thali amazing.
Came for lunch with my love. Food is delicious I loved it, and restaurant service also excellent, amazing with lots of flavour, very impressive for vegetarian restaurant
Idly super soft and tastes divine with the piping hot, flavourful sambar loaded with veggies and right kind of authentic spices. Do not forget to try their authentic Filter coffee. Dosa is surely amazing however i feel the quantity of oil was tad bit too much.
If you stick to your culture, you will grow in life, The biggest lesson is this outlet. Excellent food, ambience, must go n try their ghee roast dosa, masala dosa, onion rawa masala dosa, rawa idli.
Overall a great experience and we came early enough that we avoided the lines. The food is consistently solid, flavorful, classic south Indian. The service was very responsive and very friendly (clearly something that has been developed as a part of the culture). I like the basic presentation and the way simplicity in space has been maintained.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I felt there could be a bit more done for plating. I found their white plastic serving plates a bit wrongly sized and lacking the authentic feel. I feel like even a basic steel plate would be better. I also felt like their portions had gotten smaller (though to be fair they were very fast on refills). It's all a bit nitpicky but for a chain as renowned as Sarvana, the nitpicks stand out. Loved it overall.
Service is not too good according to the standards of the location the restaurant is Located in! The coffee and the tea were too strong that I can guarantee a north Indian can not drink. In short it was not worth it!
Food Quality is Ok and you've to wait for your order for some time Still the quantity is good and they serve all the South Indian dishes from Idli to Dosa range!
It was my first time I was there loved they made the place and still serving the authenticity of South India in other place they made the food and serve it but in this place they create a Picasso
This is a good hotel. It is a south indian hotel. We will get many food items like dosa, uttapa, tea etc. Food quality is good. Main thing is that the taste of every food item is like south (very tasty). The best item I have tasted in this hotel is Cheese Dosa and Tea. If you have read this review then please atleast one time visit this hotel and taste Cheese Dosa and a cup of Tea and one thing is that the tea is bland so don't forget to add sugar in it.
Quality of this has changed from the time i last visited i.e july 2014.we ordered rava dosa and filter cofee.rava dosa was not that much crispy as it used to be and filter coffee was not up to the mark
Nice authentic Tamil food. Very rarely did I ever find a South Indian restaurant where the chutney and sambar are nice but amazingly all three chutneys are awesome. The dosas were crisp and delicious. I'd suggest to steer clear of the thali and Cheese Veg Dosa and to stick to the classics.
Amazing place to have South Indian food. This place open early in the morning around 8 and is must for breakfasts. Very well managed and behaved staff.
Finest of South Indian food that gets thumbs up by every one with great hospitality and superb quality food, not surprisingly that one prefers to wait for his turn rather visiting elsewhere as tables are full most of the times!
Ambience and hygiene was good. Had heard a lot about the food they serve. But my experience was average. Sambhar was warm not hot, and dosa tastes the same as we eat in other restaurant. Moreover the cleaning lady was after me to take the plates before we leave the table. My take, its just a mad rush nothing out of the ordinary here.
After 8 years I hv been there.long queue before entering.but it's ok people.we ordered Dosa but after having it I really couldn't find anything for which I was excited.the taste was ok ok. No parking problem is there and lots of others restaurant in one single lane.
I tried one uttapam and a dosa, both authentic, as of my taste buds no masala was there all you can taste is just chutneys and sambhar, no taste otherwise. If thats the case with authentic south indian food than i am not a really big fan. Also we tried cold coffee with ice cream and south indian filter coffee which was great. Good Service, place is busy sometimes you would have to wait for your turn.
Depending on what you eat can largely affect your experience. Last time I had Butter Roast Masala Dosa and was not very satisfied and but before that I had loved the Rava Dosa there. Although some of the staff is sweet, there's usually a lot of crowd that your order may not be on priority.
The 5 star is for the food and the service. It couldn't be described it was full of taste, healthy and in good quantity. The saravanaa team was good in managing the service and the seat bookings. Please one thing to be noted you will find Crowd if you are visiting in weekends and there are no online bookings and take necessary covid precautions as I didn't find people maintaining social distancing. But all of this is worth it when you will taste the food. Do visit with your family and friends and adding to that they have a speacial thali which is only served in the afternoon if you have a chance should taste it.
Disappointing food. Didn't like it even as par as nukad food functions. Visited this place as i found some post saying this can be nice place to have authentic south indian. Will suggest people to cross verify order with waiter once as they can duplicate ur order nd will ask you to pay also.
Though I always liked the taste of almost all dishes at Saravanaa Bhawan, but my experience with waiting time for packing is exhaustive. They claimed that they serve food early at table and packing is our secondary priority
The serve the purest South Indian food for which I travel atleast 40 to 45km once a month and still have to wait for atleast 1hour to enter the restaurant. The sambar and rava idlii and the coffee
One of the best places in delhi to enjoy authentic south indian food, must try dosa. , uttapam, filter coffee and south indian sweets available at the counter. Update 10th Aug 2021: Visited again after Covid, Ordered Masala Dosa but the quality was not good this time, sambhar was tasteless with chutneys not mixed properly.
Best South Indian food is served here.service is super quick and prices are quite reasonable.i can say a must visit place for South Indian cuisine lovers.
Head here for experiencing great south indian food at affordable rates in the centre of the city. Rasam, Filter coffee and mini idli tiffin are a must try. Lunch and dinner hours are rush hours so you can expect some waiting during this time, but the management staff is quick and efficient in handling things so it won't be much of an issue.
The Saravana Bhavan hotel is one of the most famous place to go to if you are looking for authentic South Indian dishes in the Connaught Place area in New Delhi. This place is usually very crowded and you might have to wait anywhere between 15 minutes to half an hour to get a table here. But the tasty food makes the waiting worthwhile. Prices are also genuine and cleanliness is taken care of well. Parking here is easy as it is located in the centre of the city. Adding some menu pics here for reference.
We just love south indian cuisine & place reverberates whenever we want to have a bite. Our overseas relatives also join us whenever in India. Had been visiting Janpath outlet for more than 15 years. However recent two experiences have been devastating. In Jun'20 got meals packed & had food poisoning. Brushed it up as one off incident & again we mustered courage & visited outlet on 27th July'21 evening. The place is totally unkept, smelling like unkept warehouse with seepage. All members of my family felt the same & were cursing each other for visiting. Why did they open up without cleaning sprucing up? We shall never be able to visit this place again.
For South Indian food lovers a must place to visit and eat their dosas which ate very famous. Neat and clean place with nice ambience. Staff is also good.
An excellent south Indian Food restaurant. Top quality in reasonable price. The taste is awesome. Food is hygienic. Taking all precautions and safe to eat. A must visit place for all.
Best south indian food. Go for breakfast with family. You will find the place very peaceful and good food would definitely be on your way. Idlis dipped in ghee and onion rava masala dosa are my favourites
Eminence like south India they provide food on leave of banana test is different from that which we get here in north India if you want to take the real test of south India must try.
One of the best restaurants to eat in CP or anywhere else in India. Their dosa and idli is amazing. Their Juices are tasty.
However the serving staff could have more professionalism and mannerism in terms of how to talk to the customers and how to react. Hence I am deducting a star. Else everything was awesome.
If you are in CP, it is a must visit place to eat.
Me andy friends check the review for this place they are good so we choose to go there and wait for at least 45 min and after we entered in the restaurant the experience is not good. We order what is best there but it leave us disappointed. And we figured it out that sambhar can be this bad. It is not worth to go there.
Saravana Bhavan is one of the more popular Vegetarian South Indian Restaurants in Delhi. If you go at peak hours you will find a long que of people waiting for its delicious food. My favorites are the Idli, soft and fluffy, the onion rava masala dosa, the dhai vada, sambar vada, almond halwa, mini idlis, appam with side dish. They do a good job in making wholesome food. Its definately worth going to.
If you don’t have access to South India or aren’t from a South Indian family this is almost as good as what is authentic. Unsure as to why they’ve messed up their filter coffee so much, and not sure why they’re advertising on behalf of a fertility god?
It is a nice place for lunch and dinner. People who loves South Indian foods must go there. Foods are yummy. If you are planning to visit, you should book a table in advance otherwise you hd to wait for 30 minutes.
Amazing place to have authentic south indian food in delhi. Mini idly with ghee and ghee roast masala dosa is must try for this place. Now a days cutlery hygiene is an issue in sarvana bhavan.
Hotel Saravana Bhavan is the largest South Indian vegetarian restaurant chain in the world, founded in 1981 with ₹5,000 capital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. They have more than 39 locations in India (30 in Chennai) and 87 across several countries in Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. You won't be disappointed, your stomach will be happy and your wallet won't be completely empty.take it from me, I'm a student again. I have even frequented their dosai when I used to work in the area and I would totally recommend the place to others. Meal was served hot and excellent taste. Server was very friendly and helpful. One of the best places to go for authentic south Indian food! And the staff is really friendly and helpful. Being Indian, I like the fact that the food is absolutely authentic and healthy. Overall a good place to taste original south indian food.service was great i would recommend to visit and taste their speciality, especially the "ghee paneer dosai" one of the marvellous dosai available. Verdict Food-5/5 Service-4/5 Value for money-3.5/5 Waiting time is one thing that is tiring sometimes but believe me its worth the wait. DO VISIT
Best south Indian food. The items that you must try are. Dahi sweet wadai, Rawa onion masala dosa, meals and rasam papad these are re neat ones. Interiors are awesome service is good staff is well behaved. The only thing that is bad is the waiting time there is a lot of waiting on weekdays also and on weekends you must go atleast half an hour before to eat on time.
Food is too good. The waiting time (normally around 20-40 min) is at times irritating cause saravana people don’t even open other floors and keep people waiting.
Too crowded.they should install an electronic system for their exact or approx waiting times, table status.food quality has gone down. Burnt dosas, hard boiled idlis.this place is on a down hill now.
This place servers best authentic South Indian meals a must try place in my opinion. I loved their food and service was very polite despite the crowd. I enjoyed my time and would definitely be back
If you love south Indian food. This is the place you need to visit. Amazing food. Great ambience. The only catch is that you need to wait for your turn.
There's a long waiting period outside the restaurant to get in and inside the restaurant to eat. By the end of it all, the expected quality and taste is absent in the food. Disappointed.
One of the best authentic south indian food. I loved the place and its food. If you are planning to visit this place then make sure that you take a buffer time too bcoz there will be a waiting period of 15 to 30 min all the time. If you want to avoid heavy waiting period then you can plan a brunch. Comparatively, its less crowded at that time.
If you enjoy south Indian cuisine, this is the place to go. Start with the mini ghee idlis, savour the tangy rasam and revel in the goodness of crunchy dosas, spongy idlis and uttapams and lip smacking, spicy chutneys. If you're a Paneer freak go for the paneer dosa without a second thought. It's yummy and literally oozing out ghee. But once in a while to chalta hai. I must also add that you should not leave without the horlicks pedagogy and the Mysore pal. You'll thank me for this melt in the mouth goodness.
Excellent variety and taste. Waiting time during the could range between 30 to 45 minutes. Could be less if lucky. Price is very reasonable. For 5 adults and 5 kids, bill was less than 1100. So if you are crazy about South Indian dishes, then this place must be in your visit list.
