Indian Social Institute

Indian National Institute is a very nice place to hold meetings and I really liked the atmosphere there. I really liked that place.

I just came today after giving my GD& PI of NIFT. To be honest, I didn't like this place much. I went there with my sister and had some bags as well. They didn't allow any guardians/ parents inside the Institute. They asked them to stay outside for the whole duration of the Interview and GD round in the scorching heat. They didn't provide any facility like reception sort of a place where parents/guardians could stay. There's no other place nearby too. There is a temple in front of the Institute which is usually locked all the time. So look for a place nearby beforehand for the person who is accompanying you.

No value of visitors, parents, guardians of students, no hospitality.told to stand outside of gate. Very bad and rude.

Went there for some work. It's old institute. Parking is very limited and they has a small canteen on 4th floor. Beside the building, they also have residential complex

Very safe, neat and clean environment. Food also available within the complex. Courteous and helping staff.

It's been a historical central place for people engaged in the social sector to be able to hold low cost meetings. The only downside is the costs of parking even if one is hosting the event, and also for participants. The simple lunch is always wholesome and plentiful. Long may ISI survive though one worries for it's health in current times.

It is a very great place for stay and it's location is very calm without any traffic noise.

Good area to have conferences or meetings. Quite a green outside and clean as well. Parking is an issue and very costly too.

This place has a church at the ground floor with multiple floors above it, and many educational institutes has setup there classes in this building few runs on the weekend and few on weekdays. And just to mention it is lift facility available which you might not expect at first site. Parking space is also available outside the building at owners risk!

I attended here one seminar by some motivational speaker i don't remember his name now.overall fine place.

Have a good place to stay, you can book room via online like sending mail and also have good fire safety system.having lift facility. But there is no room service over here.

Institute has good resources for conducting workshops, conferences and meetings. They provide venues and all required equipment like Mike, projector etc. They also have arrangement for meal and tea. They also have rooms to stay. The place is good and well managed.

You can do Six Sigma courses from here. It is a renowned place and certifications taken from here are being considered every where in India. However, for worldwide recognition ASQ is still on the top. So choose wisely.

Good place But its Lack of service there is no good markets nearby also inside this building Structure is Too old constructed here need To modify soon

Indian social institute is located behind Sai mandir on bhism pitamah marg Lodhi road. Very good for conference etc.

ISI is into research, training, action for socio-economic development and human rights in India. Went there for attending a seminar and the hall was good but looks old styled.

The institute's infrastructure is maintained well by the concerned care takers. Classes are air conditioned well. Canteen is situated at the top floor of the building which can be considered a demerit of the place. The institute is not much crowded even during the functional hours and it's just 5 minutes walk from jln metro station gate number 4 (if you know the way through the govt.residential colony which is exactly in front of Sai Baba Mandir). The mess of the institute serves descent flavoured food too (only if you are a part of the institute in any manner or you hold a valid coupon!)

The Indian Social Institute was founded, more than a centre of research, as an ideology to contribute to the task of social transformation. At the time of founding of the institute, the then General of the Society of Jesus stated “the institute should be founded for the serious study of the Indian social situation in all its aspects”. Adhering to this mandate the institute has been ever in search of new ways of engaging in social transformation according to the signs of the times.

The institute began its journey as ‘Indian Institute of Social Order’ in January 1951 in Pune in response to the challenges of nation-building and emerging new social order in the post-independent era. In 1958, the institute was registered in Pune as Indian Social Institute. Realising the importance of being present in the national political capital, in 1961the institute was shifted to New Delhi and a new entity was registered under Xavier Institute of Social Order. However, later in 1969 the institute was registered as ‘Indian Social Institute’.

In the first decade, till 1960s, the focus was on spreading social doctrine of the Church; in the following decade the institute expanded its scope to accompany NGOs and focused on training, thus giving birth to Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. The third decade was marked with sensitivity to women issues and establishment of Mobile Orientation Team (MOT). In the 80s, the fourth decade, it made a definitive choice to align with people’s movements and accompany them. As the government opened itself in 1989 to Thatcher-Reagan neo-liberal philosophy the institute responded to the challenges of liberalization, privatization and globalisation (LPG). In the same decade the institute adopted rights-based perspective as a cross-cutting subject permeating all the endeavours of the institute which continues till today. In the new millennium, expanding civil society space and advocacy works have assumed greater significance aimed at policy changes. The institute enjoys NGO special consultation status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

All through these years the institute has enjoyed great credibility among the academicians, activists, students, and marginalized communities through varied interventions like, action-based research, publications, capacity building programmes, and policy interventions through advocacy works. It has also provided space for like-minded persons and organisations to come together, reflect and respond with appropriate strategies. During this long journey many persons have contributed to the nurturing of its growth and also have taken shelter under the shades of its wings. The management and staff of the institute earnestly hope that the institute will grow further in the years to come to spread its fragrance far and wide.

Nice building for government meetings and seminars
Has a cafeteria too. Very reasonable and good food.

Good place to conduct or attend seminars. Lunch menu is simple but delicious in the restaurant next door but avoid snacks there.

Nice institute with good amenities. Went there for Nift exam and it was a very clean venue with good canteen

Centrally located conference facility preferred by civil society organizations running on a shoestring budget.
