It was located in naubatkhana of redfort. The museum is located on the first and second floor of the drum house. It contains several galleries pertaining to the military history of India during the first and second world war.
Items that are on display is a diaroma of the battle of panipat (1526), in which Babur defeated the forces of Ibrahim Lodi and established the Mughal Empire. Further objects on display are traditional weapons such as daggers and gupti, as well as arms and helmets. The advent of the industrialisation brought in new weapons such as machine guns and grenades.
Various badges, ribbons, and uniforms of Turkish and New Zealand army officers, and flags are also on display.
The dress of Maharaja Pratap Singh of Idar, a renowned soldier and military man, is displayed, which includes the kurta (long shirt), belt, trouser, turban with zari work, shoes and inscribed sword with sheath.

जैसलमेर के सैन्य स्टेशन में जैसलमेर युद्ध संग्रहालय स्थापित किया गया है। इसका उद्घाटन दक्षिण कमान के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल अशोकसिंह ने 24 अगस्त 2015 को, 1965 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के पचास साल पूरे होने के अवसर पर किया। यह संग्रहालय जैसलमेर से 10 किलोमीटर दूर जैसलमेर-जोधपुर राजमार्ग पर स्थित है। युद्ध संग्रहालय के भीतर दो बड़े सूचना प्रदर्शन हॉल, एक ऑडियो-विजुअल रूम और सुव्यवस्थित दुकानें स्थापित की गई हैं। इस संग्रहालय में युद्ध के दौरान जब्त हथियारों, टैंकों एवं सैन्य वाहनों की एक बड़ी शृंखला प्रदर्शित की गई है। भारतीय वायुसेना द्वारा वर्ष 1971 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के दौरान लोंगेवाला ऑपरेशन में प्रयुक्त हंटर विमान को भी प्रदर्शित किया गया है। इस संग्रहालय में प्रवेश निःशुल्क है। यहाँ एक एम्पीथियेटर सैक्शन डिफेंडेडपोस्ट का निर्माण किया गया है जिसमें 1965 के युद्ध के दृश्य को दर्शाया जाता है। यह संग्रहालय 1965 की जंग के वीर योद्धाओं को भारतीय सेना की ओर से दी गई श्रद्धांजलि है।
24 अगस्त 2015 को लोंगेवाला में भी एक युद्ध स्मारक का उद्घाटन किया गया है यह युद्ध स्मारक उस स्थान पर है जहाँ 4 एवं 5 दिसम्बर 1971 को युद्ध लड़ा गया था। इस युद्ध स्मारक में एक ऑडियो विजुअल थियेटर का निर्माण किया गया है जिसमें लोंगेवाला के युद्ध को दर्शाया जाता है। यह स्मारक सातों दिन खुला रहता है तथा इसमें प्रवेश निःशुल्क है। जैसलमेर तथा लोंगेवाला के युद्ध स्मारकों के बीच 2 घण्टे की दूरी है।
जैसलमेर युद्ध संग्रहालय, जैसलमेर आने वाले देशी- विदेशी पर्यटकों के लिए प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थल बन गया है। यहाँ प्रतिदिन 1500 से 2000 पर्यटक आते हैं। यही कारण है कि जैसलमेर के युद्ध संग्रहालय को देश के सर्वोच्च पसंद किए जाने वाले पांच म्यूजियम में शामिल किया गया है। विश्व प्रतिष्ठित अमरीकन ट्रेवल कंपनी ट्रिप एडवाईजर ने जैसलमेर युद्ध संग्रहालय को विश्व भर में पांचवा स्थान दिया है। इस सूचि में लेह का 'हॉल ऑफ फेम' पहले स्थान पर है। उदयपुर की 'बागोर की हवेली' दूसरे स्थान पर, कलकता का 'विक्टोरिया मेमोरियल हॉल' तीसरे स्थान पर, हैदराबाद का 'सालार जंग म्यूजियम' चौथे स्थान पर एवं जैसलमेर का 'युद्ध संग्रहालय' पांचवे स्थान पर है।
भारत की पश्चिमी सीमा पर स्थित भारतीय सेना के शौर्य को प्रदर्षित करता यह संग्रहालय वीर सैनिकों की शहादत का प्रतीक है। इस संग्रहालय को ट्रिप एडवाईजरी के गुणवत्ता मानदण्डों के अनुसार भारत के सर्वोच्च संग्रहालयों में सम्मिलित किया गया हैं। इस संग्रहालय को एशिया के सर्वाधिक पसंद किए जाने वाले 25 संग्रहालयों में भी स्थान मिला हैं। एशिया के सर्वोच्च 25 संग्रहालयों में पहला स्थान चीन के 'किन टेराकोटा वारियर्स' को दिया गया है। जबकि संसार में सर्वाधिक पसंद किए जाने वाले संग्रहालयों में न्यूर्याक सिटी के 'मेट्रोपोलिटन म्यूजियम ऑफ आर्ट' को दूसरा स्थान दिया गया है, उसके बाद शिकागो के 'स्टेट हेर्मिटेज एंड विंटर पैलेस' को तीसरा स्थान दिया गया है।

It s built in 1919 as a tribute to commemorate the soldiers who had joined the First World War in India or abroad on behalf of the British Empire.
