Not saying that other cities in India have better metro stations, but any other city in India would have humble and helpful people when you are lost in the station. Firstly, I don't understand the stupid concept of the Airport express line. If someone is going to any other station that falls in the airport express line, the metro people end up giving you a different line ticket, where you need to change 100 other stations rather than giving you the airport line one. We lost 120rs per head because of the stupidity of these people. While we were lost, there was also a senior Australian citizen who encountered the same issue as us. He politely asked for help from a young metro employee, the employee was so annoyed that he literally shouted at him. Sorry to say, but no longer Delhi is Dil walo ka shahar that everyone talks so proudly about. Everyone here is always annoyed for some reason we don't know and behave as if the world revolves around them. Atleast, we as Indians coming from other states are still okay with this behaviour, but when someone visits from a different country, if this is the experience we give to them, not really sure what kind of a collective impression we are portraying. This was my first and definitely the last visit to Delhi!
Last week during my visit to this place the expectation was that the place would offer insight into the medieval history and the great mughals who ruled from this great place. And that's a very normal expectation when one visits a historical monument.
Now the details of the visit - The ASI plaque describes the location and the surroundings. The ASI plaque mention the name of the building The ASI ticket window counter provides the ticket for the museum inside the fort.
Negatives The ASI plaque does not describe the use of the location. The ASI plaque does not give any information on who used the place and how. The ASI does not give any information on the registered guides and the charges for hiring a guide. There is no information on the mughals and how, when on the construction of the fort. The mughal information is completely obliterated from the fort.
But the entire information on independence struggle is provided by the ASI, and this information has no linkage to the history of the fort. The 1st war of independence or the mutiny of 1857 is related to this place but freedom struggle details can be provided at some other place which is connected to the struggle.
It was a very disappointing visit. ASI has failed completely to do justice with the history of the place but succeeded in pacifying the present day politics.
It's a great experience to visit an historic place, I recommend everyone to visit at least once to get such a great experience of their life, I'm fully enjoy with my family here
The Red Fort is a historical fortification in the old Delhi area. Shah Jahan constructed it in the year 1639 as a result of a capital shift from Agra to Delhi. Used as the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty, this imposing piece of architecture derives its name from its impregnable red sandstone walls. In addition to accommodating the emperors and their households, it was the ceremonial and political centre of the Mughal state and the setting for events critically impacting the region. Today, this monument is home to several museums that have an assortment of precious artefacts on display. Every year, the Indian Prime Minister unfurls the national flag here on the Independence Day.
Formerly known as Quila-e-Mubarak or the Blessed Fort, the Red Fort lies along the banks of the river Yamuna, whose waters fed the moats surrounding the fort. It was a part of the medieval city of Shahjahanabad, popularly known today as 'Old Delhi'. The entire fort complex is said to represent the architectural creativity and of Mughal architecture. With so much history and heritage associated with it, the Red Fort is one of the most popular monuments in India and a major tourist attraction in Delhi. It became a UNESCO world heritage site in 2007. The Archaeological Survey of India is at present responsible for the security and preservation of this magnificent monument.

You can but tickets online from BookMyShow to skip the crowd. Don't forget to buy a museum ticket alongside it. The museum here depicts all historical events as demonstrative graphics.
Historical place.and it's very big. Covers a lot of area and has a museum & a market inside. It is famous for it history and has a lot of interesting stories about it. People interested in Architecture and history will find it terrific and for others it's just another monument.
The Lal Qila is just in front of the station, just get up from the station and look to your left.if you happen to cross the street, then do that on your own risk, as there are no signalling system.

Constructed in 1639 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, the Red Fort is named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and is adjacent to the older Salimgarh Fort, built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546 AD. The imperial apartments consist of a row of pavilions, connected by a water channel known as the Stream of Paradise (Nahr-i-Bihisht). The fort complex is considered to represent the zenith of Mughal creativity under Shah Jahan, [citation needed] and although the palace was planned according to Islamic prototypes, each pavilion contains architectural elements typical of Mughal buildings that reflect a fusion of Timurid and Persian traditions. The Red Fort’s innovative architectural style, including its garden design, influenced later buildings and gardens in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, Braj, Rohilkhand and elsewhere.
