Office of the think tank of our Nation. The only issue is they just do thinking all the time and have no idea about the implementation of their thinking.

National Institute for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) is India's premier think tank. Established on 1 January 2015, Vision of NITI Aayog is transforming India. It brings out research reports on several topics like Agriculture, Industry, Service, Power, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Investment, Women Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Digitalization etc. It promotes cooperative fiscal federalism and acts as bridge between Union Government and States. It brings out a lot of index and report like SDG India Index, Export Preparedness Index, State Energy and Climate Index, Health Competitive Index, Lead Index, Water Index, East of Doing Business Index, SDG Urban Index etc. NITI Aayog is Nodal agency for monitoring progress of achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in India.

The experience was pleasant. Security guards are full of humanity. The office staff was friendly. Breakfast served was healthy and reflecting Millet year.

It was a very great experience while I visited NITI AAYOG, if you want to go here you need to pass or if you don't have a pass then you'll have to make an appointment with any scientist or any other department officer later, then you can enter here.

This is an important organ of central government and make action plan for implementation of government schemes. No one can enter the office without permission. We went to this office on official duty for the purpose of updating information regarding sustainable development goals. Washrooms are also kept clean and hygenically maintained by the management. Maintain good house keeping and hygenically maintained. Staff are very polite and cooperative.

Very well planned and systematic office. Congenial and cooperative staff. Officers are open to new ideas.

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block.  He found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.

On seeing him, the father yelled, “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility? ”

The doctor smiled and said, “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call and now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”.

“Calm down? ! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies while waiting for the doctor than what will you do? ” said the father angrily.  The doctor smiled again and replied, “We will do our best by God’s grace and you should also pray for your son’s healthy life”.

“Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy” Murmured the father.

The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “Thank goodness! Your son is saved! ” And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running by saying, “If you have any questions, ask the nurse”.

“Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state” Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.  The nurse answered, tears coming down her face, “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery.  And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial. ”

Moral: Never judge anyone because you never know how their life is and what they’re going through.

The NITI Aayog serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India, and the nodal agency tasked with catalyzing economic development, and fostering cooperative federalism through the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach.

NITI Aayog Releases SDG India Index: Baseline Report 2018

A single measurable Index to map progress of States & UTs towards 2030 SDGs
The NITI Aayog today released the Baseline Report of the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDG) India Index, which comprehensively documents the progress made by India’s States
and Union Territories towards implementing the 2030 SDG targets.
Who developed the index?
The SDG India Index, which was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Statistics &
Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Global Green Growth Institute and United Nations in
India, was launched by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, NITI Aayog Members Dr
Ramesh Chand, Dr VK Paul and Dr VK Saraswat, CEO Shri Amitabh Kant, UN Resident
Coordinator Mr. Yuri Afanasiev and MoSPI Secretary & CSI Shri Pravin Srivastava.
What are its objectives?
NITI Aayog has the twin mandate to oversee the implementation of SDGs in the country,
and also promote Competitive and Cooperative Federalism among States and UTs. The SDG
India Index acts as a bridge between these mandates, aligning the SDGs with the Prime
Minister’s clarion call of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, which embodies the five Ps of the global
SDG movement – people, planet, prosperity, partnership and peace.
What is SDG India Index?
The SDG India Index tracks progress of all States and UTs on 62 Priority Indicators selected
by NITI Aayog, which in turn is guided by MoSPI’s National Indicator Framework
comprising 306 indicators and based on multiple-round consultations with Union
Ministries/Departments and States/UTs.
The Index spans 13 out of 17 SDGs. Progress on SDGs 12,13 & 14 could not be measured as
relevant State/UT level data were not available and SDG 17 was left out as it focuses on
international partnerships.
A composite score was computed between the range of 0-100 for each State and UT based
on their aggregate performance across 13 SDGs, which indicates average performance of
State/UT towards achieving 13 SDGs & their respective targets.
If a State/UT achieves a score of 100, it signifies that it has achieved the 2030 national
targets. The higher the score of a State/UT, the greater the distance to target achieved.
Classification Criteria based on SDG India Index Score is as follows:

 Aspirant: 0-49
 Performer: 50-64
 Front Runner: 65-99
 Achiever: 100

NITI is the acronym for The National Institution for Transforming India.

Planning Commission of 1950, was replaced by NITI Aayog in 2015.
And subsequent amalgamation of the National Development Council with the NITI Aayog was also done

 
It is basically a think tank for the Govt of India & it reports directly to the PM, who is its Chairman.

However what makes it different from Planning Commission is that it will also have participation from CM of states &
Lt Governors of union territories.

Also It has bottom-up approach which will also include village level planning in contrast to the top to bottom approach taken by the Planning Commission.
