If you want authentic bengali food with impeccable taste and awesome ambience in the heart of Delhi, Oh Calcutta at Greater Kailash is the place to be. A true home away from. Home for all Bengalis
It was good, with relatively reasonably priced food, with good portions. Rasogolla was marvelous. Restaurants in CP can charge double money for worse food.
Finally found a great place to hangout with my family and friends, the food is awesome the ambience is on a whole other level. I personally liked the mutton curry wonderful, I never enjoyed so much at a restaurant but Oh! Calcutta you guys are awesome. Keep up the good work.
The Oh Calcutta outlet which was in Nehru place earlier had altogether a completely different level than this GK one. This is average in ambience and taste.
Great place for bengali food lovers. Highly overpriced but the taste of food just makes you forget the price. Must visit for their fish and mutton food items.
I visited this area after long time. I spent my college/ University days in this area. It's a nostalgic feeling. College Square, Coffee shop, old book stalls, Presidency College, University, All India Institute of Hygiene and public Health, Social welfare Business Management, Tropical of medicine, Calcutta Medical college, Vidyasaagar Hostel, Mahajati Sadan etc.
Had been to Oh Calcutta again for today's lunch hosted by my loveable sisters. Food quality as usual excellent. Loved the fish fry and boneless Bhapa Ilish (Hilsa). Last but not the least.my favourite Nalen gurer Ice cream.
Good tasty Bengali food, I enjoyed their mutton curry and rice.sujit helped me to select the dish and gave an awesome service.he is good and star of ur restaurant.
Have been to this place after approx. 3 years. Had almost forgotten the place. They have renovated it & the ambience got much better than before. Post Covid, some part of the Buffet experience may have been detracted (such as the starters) due to the regulations, but the food is still awesome & it is a place which you can visit with your family over & over again.
Beautiful ambience, excellent service and awesome food.
Non-vegetarians will find plenty of options to satisfy their taste buds, but even for vegetarians like me, the starters, and main course was delicious. The mustard sauce they serve with the starters is just awesome.
Fish did not seem fresh in the Fish tikka and the chicken could be softer in green chilli chicken dish. However, the gravy tasted quite good. Moong dal was good too. Service should be improved.
Hell lot of expensive, food was too expensive. There was no variety available very limited options.very crowded not a place for couples as most of the visitors are family.although interior was good.
Went to Oh Calcutta, GK 2 with great expectations, ordered mutton chap on recommendations of waiter and it had no mutton and it tasted like kewra water, starters bhetki cutlet was fine. Rest of the meal which included pulao, peas chop, prawn malai curry, subz biryani was below average and there was no service, no body bothered to serve order took more than 50 minutes, veg Biryani was stale with no taste, prawn malai curry was the only saving grace. Total bill was 4500. Total waste of hard earned money.
It was horrible experience, I visited many times oh! Calcutta and mainland china diffrent cites but this unit need to improve many things Food part Quality of food was very poor. I recommend my friends and force for oh! Calcutta but it's not up to the mark as spicelity restaurants standards, I know very well this group and I already been before 6 years ago. Higher management really need to care this unit for upcoming time. Food Matal chingri: In menu their is mention king prawns but we got prawns like shrimps Mochar Ilish: it's ok about flavour profile and over cook
Main course Kosha mangsho: Exclent Murgir Jhol: bland test, no flavour profile like boil chicken with gravy Til lankar tarkari: Totaly flat there is no flavour of sesame and green chilly just like boil veg with spinach puree and chef forget about salt Fish Ilish; good
Sarvice: sarvice is very slow. Server doesn't have knowledge of basic sarvice as per hospitality standard. We got cheque before finish our meal, asking many time for fingar bowl, didn't ask for dessert.
We ordered jhu jhure aloo bhaja, chholar dal, bhetki paturi, kancha lonka chicken, luchi, bhaat. The rice looked like it was from yesterday.the paturi was definitely not something I'd try again.the kancha looks chicken was ok. Overall I liked the aloo bhaja only. 3K to only enjoy aloo bhaja is not worth it. I have had food in other OH Calcuttas and they aren't this bad.this one in CR Park.wasn't upto the mark.the Covid protocols are followed so wow!
The place is great for people who love Fish. Try their Malai Chingri, Shrimp cutlet, Hilsa. The prices are very much expensive though. For 2, it was around 7000. So plan accordingly, however worth once in a while.
Food as usual was fabulous. Everytime I crib about the price of the place, but when I go and eat food there, I end up coming happy. Illish paturi was finger licking, even the simple Brinjal fry was good. Apart from other food they served. As someone who loves to cook Bengali food, I am completely trust the food there.
Located near Nehru Place metro station this outlet is located, well it’s Ambiance is quite normal but bit lavish. Yup it was more like fine dining for seafood lovers, when I visited this outlet I got know that a Fish named Hilsa festival is been celebrated. They serve various dishes made of Hilsa. Personally, being a vegetarian it was tough for me to settle, yeah they had few exciting things like banana tree leaf tikki, Paneer cutlet, Brinjal Pakoras etc for the Starters. Moving on to mains I had Yellow Dal, Palak Paneer, Kashmiri rice with Yummy Poori, A sweet pickle named Papaya was really good. It’s the best place for Fish lovers and non Vegetarians, would recommend it to vegetarians. FOLLOW ME INSTAGRAM FOR FOODGASM @DELHISEFOODBLOGGER
Nice and cool atmosphere. The delicacies of Calcutta is found here under one roof. Covid protocols were also followed. Enjoyed the food especially fish chop. That was the best for me.
To this place after a gap of 5 years with my cousin Absolutely mesmerized by the taste, authenticity and hospitality of this place We ordered kosha mangsho and luchi and since hilsa fish festival was on we ended up ordering fish fingers also. Absolutely yummy each dish was and in the end the nolen gurer ice cream and mishti doi added the cherry on the cake The hospitality was so wonderful that they even let us taste the chicken salad and also gave complementary sweets in the end. Each of the item held it's own taste on the palette. Would love to visit again really soon do try out their dab chingri as well with rice and their buffet as well.its amazing
Food n service was very good however it was surprising and honestly unpleasant to see the steward ask for tip when service tax n service charges were already charged in the bill.
It was heartbreaking to see the new shift to GK. Nehru Place had a feel, a certain ambience that was totally missing. The food other than starters lacked the feel of a real delectable cuisine as Oh! Calcutta was quintessentially known for. This has been my favourite restaurant in Delhi for years, now it hurts!
Even if you're not a Bengali, the staff is, and makes sure you are well acquainted with their cuisine. Seasonal cocktails and mocktails are available on request. Buffet service is also offered.
Oh! Calcutta! Oh! Anjan Chatterji! What have u come down too! A restaurant which actually changed a perception ' bengali food is not just mustard doused fish and rice' seems to be in dire straits. Having shifted from the iconic Nehru place in Delhi to a dinge place, the beleagured place seems to have lost an advantage. With location, lot more seems to have changed including lke ill behaved waiters and manager, lack of courtesy and numerous things to count for? Having said this! It still seems to be a hub for bengali females trying to satisfy their culinary desires in Delhi! I give u one star Anjan Chatterji!
Being a Bengali I fell in love with Oh Calcutta food and even my friends who had never tasted Bengali food loved the fare. We ordered in as well and the quality and quantity were intact. Keep it up
A nice place in G K 2, for Bangali food. The veg and non-veg, both are delicious and tasty. But you may get a pinch of sweetness in the food as obvious in Bangali food. Overall, good to try once
As always, the food was fabulous. The boneless Ilish paturi is to die for, all that succulence and that decadent, authentic Ilish taste without the bones; a blessing for children. Have been visiting their outlets since they opened in Bombay, and they haven’t let us down a single time. Service is personalised and warm and welcoming. In these times of pandemic, their delivery service has been exemplary too. Thank you guys pls keep up the good work.
The food and service is excellent and at the same time the patience of staff with toddlers is amazing. Mine is dozen handfuls. Their Ala Carte is so variant and well served. The amazing part is Buffet does not lose the charm of the excellent food and service. Hope this place stays like this.
Had ordered food yesterday. The pabda fish was so small and the preparation absolutely sub standard! The kosha mangsho was wanting in flavour. The crab was very average! The only thing that was kind of decent was the Mochar chop and Chingri cutlet. I am a Bengali and frankly, would be embarrassed to call this good Bong food! Truly a waste of money. Have eaten here several times in the past- but clearly standards have fallen! Sad.
Recently, during lockdown, we had ordered food online from Oh Calcutta, New Delhi outlet. It appears that they have outsourced their food to some 3rd party as the quality was terrible and not commensurate with their reputation. I would strongly advise against ordering food from them online as we can never be sure where they are sourcing their food from.
1st March, 20 I visited this restaurant and feel nostalgia that I came to a home land restaurant and also I feel excited the taste of food, it's really praiseworthy.
Very nice. The dishes are very tasty and gives the authentic taste of bengali cuisine. The staff service is also very good. The posto is the best here. It's generally always crowded so its better to drop in during the weekdays. Table can be booked through zomato. The location also us very good. Cleanliness is perfect. Price is a bit on the higher side.
We went for buffet on 13 December 2018. The ambience is great. Grilled fish was wonderful, soft and nice. Prawn curry and chicken salad were also tasty. The chicken curry was average. So was the fish curry. What disappoints is the sheer limitation in number of dishes. There is hardly any choice. The starters, except the grilled fish, failed to impress. The desserts consisted of, nothing extraordinary, Kheer and sweet Bundi (mihidana) and one more common item. I am happy for my one time visit for the buffet meal. I wouldn't go twice.
We went to Oh! Calcutta for dinner. The buffet is available only during lunch and not dinner. So we had to order items separately.
I must say each and every item was delectable.
The absolutely round, puffed, hot luchi simply melted in our mouth. The kosha mangsho to accompany it was succulent, spicy to perfection and a testimony to authentic Bengali cooking.
Gobindo bhog rice eaten with bhetki fish in mustard sauce would be any Bengali's idea of culinary heaven.
We round it off with a desert of delicious patisapta and rosogolla.
But imagine our surprise when the staff came with a complimentary cake topped with a brightly lit candle, for cutting!
Yes! We had gone for our anniversary dinner but we had not informed the staff. How could they have guessed? !
To sum up the experience at Oh! Calcutta. It was simply wonderful:)
Went with our regular group that meets periodically and goes out checking-out eating places for food and ambience. We've been here before and this an especial favourite. Authentic Bengali food, complete with raw mustard oil. We started with the traditional meat and loochees (poories, really, but with the lightest of maida rather than atta or wholemeal). Perfectly made and served. The meat, tender, VERY Bengali and delicious. We would have had more but were conscious of our collective agreement that there was more to come. Being crass North Indians we went the whole hog after that rather than the traditional course-wise as is the norm. You can do that, too, if you have the time. The smoked hilsa, bhetki or, anglicised, bekti, and chingri maach or prawns were outstanding and served with plain, boiled rice perfectly countered the sting of the mustard oil and the flawlessly prepared, bengali-style "poshto" potatoes. This might seem innocuous but this the humble potato elevated! We wanted to try the "Mishti" (desserts) in manageable portions so had a selection of nutan gur (date palm jaggery) sandesh, payash (otherwise known as kheer!), baked sandesh. The service is friendly and excellent. We never tire of this place! When people abroad say, "We love Indian food", you're tempted to enquire which, precise part of India. Even Indians don't realise the depth and breadth of their foods. The cuisine changes every100 km so, WHAT is INDIAN food? ! You tell me.
Good location which is quiet at night and has ample parking. Use the valet service and save parking charges. Service was excellent and very personalized. Food was as usual good and prices not unreasonable.
Fine dining bengal cuisine with numerous vegetarian selections. Traditional fish and meat choices abound with Ilish and Pabda as 'must have' standouts. Book ahead or be prepared to wait!
Nice place for a traditional bengali cuisine. Kosha Mangsho with lucchi is too yummy. Sweets are also upto the mark. Nolen gur ice cream is really good. But like every other renowned place, too expensive. Imagine a piece of fish fry worth Rs 333 (all inclusive) tells the rest of the story.
Great place for an authentic Bengali food experience. We had their lunch buffet which was scrumptious and satiating! If we had to nitpick the desserts could have been better considering the rich legacy of Bengali sweets!
Excellent Bengali cuisines suiting all tastes, with veg and non veg items. Good service. Availed buffet, though cost is on the higher side. Attend on holidays to avail easy parking. Valet parking provided and restaurant is at ground level.
We had the lunch buffet and everything on the menu was extremely well prepared and tasted like authentic Bengali cuisine. Superb service and friendly staff. A must visit for food connoisseurs who want to taste something other than regular restaurant menus. The price for a la carte is slightly on the higher side, however the lunch buffet is worth every penny. I will definitely come back again and refer to friends visiting New Delhi.
Simply great. Authentic Bengali cuisine, lavishly spread. Enjoyed food at a restaurant after a long time. Good yet humble service. Keep it up. Will wait for the next opportunity.
