Book the ticket online to save the queue time. Don't get scammed by the people who say we'll skip the line and get you the ticket quickly. Book online and you won't even have to wait for the people who say they'll get you the ticket quickly. The place was crowded as I went on Independence day.

It was the first time me visiting Qutub Minar with my daughter and my husband.
Place is very neat and clean.
No eatables allowed only water bottle can be carried.
Only negative part I felt is the timings shown online are till 9: 00pm.
But they start vacating the place at 6 only, when it is the best time to click pictures and enjoy the aura of the lights that are there in all the areas.
They start closing all the back side areas.
Only the areas adjacent to qutub minar are left open till 9, as they start the light show there.

Qutub Minar is a magnificent historical monument that I had the pleasure of visiting. Its intricate architecture and rich history make it a must-see attraction. However, there are a few points to consider:

1. Historical Significance: Qutub Minar's historical importance as a UNESCO World Heritage Site cannot be overstated. It's essential to highlight its role in Delhi's history and its connection to the Delhi Sultanate.

2. Architecture: The Indo-Islamic architecture is awe-inspiring, with intricate carvings and calligraphy on the red sandstone structure. Mentioning the detailed craftsmanship is crucial.

3. Preservation: The efforts put into the preservation and restoration of Qutub Minar deserve praise. The surrounding archaeological complex and gardens enhance the overall experience.

4. Crowds: Be prepared for large crowds, especially during peak tourist seasons. It's advisable to visit early in the morning to avoid the rush.

5. Accessibility: Accessibility for differently-abled visitors and amenities like guided tours and information boards could be improved to enhance the overall experience.

Overall, Qutub Minar is a cultural gem that offers a captivating glimpse into India's rich history and architectural heritage.

The Qutb Minar, also spelled as Qutub Minarand Qutab Minar, is a minaret and "victory tower" that forms part of the Qutb complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauliarea of New Delhi,  India. The height of Qutb Minar is 72.5 meters, making it the tallest minaret in the world built of bricks. The tower tapers, and has a 14.3 metres (47 feet) base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres (9 feet) at the top of the peak.  It contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps.

Parso-Arabic and Nagari in different sections of the Qutb Minar reveal the history of its construction, and the later restorations and repairs by Firoz Shah Tughluq  (1351–88) and Sikandar Lodi  (1489–1517).

It has five superposed storeys. The lowest three comprise fluted cylindrical shafts or columns of pale red sandstone, separated by flanges and by storeyed balconies, carried on Muqarnas corbels. The fourth column is of marble, and is relatively plain. The fifth is of marble and sandstone. The flanges are a darker red sandstone throughout, and are engraved with Quranic texts and decorative elements. The whole tower contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps.  At the foot of the tower is the Quwat ul Islam Mosque. The Minar tilts just over 65 cm from the vertical, which is considered to be within safe limits. Quotations from the Quran are inscribed on the walls of the monument.

Qutb Minar was an inspiration and prototype for many minarets and towers built. The Chand Minar and Mini Qutub Minar bear resemblance to the Qutb Minar and inspired from it.

Good place to see one of the older Mughal Architectures in the country.

Gives you a good feel of the history and the ruins over there if you do some historical reading online or on Wikipedia before you visit the place.

If you have visited Fatehpur Sikri and the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, you can notice the transition or upgrade in the way monuments and buildings were erected over the centuries by different generations of rulers and the significance they held at that point in time.

The Qutb complex are monuments and buildings from the Delhi Sultanate at Mehrauli in Delhi in India. Construction of the Qutub Minar "victory tower" in the complex, named after the religious figure Sufi Sant Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, was begun by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, who later became the first Sultan of Delhi of the Mamluk dynasty (Gulam Vansh). It was continued by his successor Iltutmish  (a.k. A.  Altamash), and finally completed much later by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, a Sultan of Delhi from the Tughlaq dynasty (1320-1412)  in 1368 AD. The Qubbat-ul-Islam Mosque (Dome of Islam), later corrupted into Quwwat-ul Islam, stands next to the Qutb Minar

Qutubuddin Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate, started construction of the Qutb Minar's first storey around 1199. In 1220, Aibak's successor and son-in-lawShamsuddin Iltutmish completed a further three storeys. In 1369, a lightning strike destroyed the top storey.  Firoz Shah Tughlaqreplaced the damaged storey, and added one more.  Sher Shah Suri also added an entrance to this tower while he was ruling and Humayun was in exile.

Qutb Minar was established along withQuwwat-ul-Islam Mosque around 1192 byQutb-ud-din Aibak, first ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. The mosque complex is one of the earliest that survives in the Indian subcontinent. The minaret is named afterQutb-ud-din Aibak, or Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, a Sufi saint. [8] Its ground storey was built over the ruins of the Lal Kot, the citadel ofDhillika. Aibak's successor Iltutmish added three more storeys.

The Minar is surrounded by several historically significant monuments of Qutb complex. The nearby pillared cupola known as "Smith's Folly" is a remnant of the tower's 19th century restoration, which included an ill-advised attempt to add some more storeys.

Great place to learn and explore. Contains the magnificent Iron pillar, the alai darwaja and alauddin khilji's grave in the complex. One of the unesco world heritage sites

Worth a visit if you’ve got spare time in Dehli, some information available in English but could really do with an audio guide. Plenty of people offering to be guides at the gate but no way of checking if they were genuine. Also a little hard to work out which way to move around and what not too miss so perhaps research before. Security guards always after tips for helping with photos!
