The Qutb Minar, also spelled Qutub Minar and Qutab Minar, is a minaret and "victory tower" that forms part of the Qutb complex, which lies at the site of Delhi’s oldest fortified city, Lal Kot, founded by the Tomar Rajputs.

Qutub Minar is a truly impressive historic monument that I had the pleasure of visiting recently. The intricate and beautiful architecture of the monument left me breathless, and I was amazed at the level of detail that went into its design.

In addition to the main monument, there are several other structures in the surrounding area that provide a fascinating glimpse into India's past. The tombs and other buildings are all beautifully designed and decorated with intricate carvings and designs on the walls. This offers a wonderful example of India's rich cultural heritage and history.

What I found particularly impressive about my visit was the informative displays that were available throughout the complex. These displays offered detailed explanations of the history and significance of each structure, and they were incredibly helpful in understanding the cultural and historical significance of the Qutub Minar.

Overall, I highly recommend visiting Qutub Minar to anyone who is interested in history, architecture, and culture. The stunning architecture, rich history, and informative displays make it a great place to learn about India's cultural heritage. The washrooms were clean, and the ticket prices were reasonable at Rs 50. It's conveniently located near a metro station, but if needed, sharing autos are also available outside.

It is one of the oldest monuments. Qutb Minar is a 73-metre (239.5 feet) tall tapering tower of five storeys, with a 14.3 metres (47 feet) base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres (9 feet) at the top of the peak, It contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps. Qutb ud Din Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate, started construction of the Qutb Minar's first storey around 1192. In 1220, Aibak's successor and son-in-law Shamsuddin Iltutmish completed a further three storeys. In 1369.a lightning strike destroyed the top storey. Firoz Shah Tughlaq replaced the damaged storey and added one more. A fascinating architectural marvel that is well worth the visit. The sheer height and mass of the minaret is awe inspiring. You leave asking yourself how the people of the 10th century were able to accomplish this feat. Don't miss capturing a photo of a jet aircraft passing near the tower. Note that you do not need a guided tour; the site has numerous placards in multiple languages explaining the significance of the ruins. Beautiful historic monument! India's equivalent to leaning tower of Pisa. Really good management and clean engineering like environment around the place. Easy tickets purchase online (and skip the queue for tickets). The monuments around the Minar are equally beautiful and transport you to a different world. Lots of picture opportunities and good view at sunset. Incredible architecture and beautiful carvings on the magnificent structures. Totally a must visit place.

The Qutub Minar, also spelled as Qutb Minar and Qutab Minar, is a minaret and "victory tower" that forms part of the Qutb complex. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli area of New Delhi,  India. [3][4] It is one of most visited tourist spots in the city due to it being one of the earliest that survives in the Indian subcontinent.
It can be compared to the 62-metre all-brick Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan, of c.  1190, which was constructed a decade or so before the probable start of the Delhi tower. The surfaces of both are elaborately decorated with inscriptions and geometric patterns. The Qutb Minar has a shaft that is fluted with "superb stalactite bracketing under the balconies" at the top of each stage. In general,  minarets were slow to be used in India and are often detached from the main mosque where they exist
This victory tower is a symbol of the synthesis of traditional Islamic architecture and Southwestern Asian design. Elizabeth Lambourn’s Islam Beyond Empires: Mosques and Islamic Landscapes in India and the Indian Ocean studies the introduction of Islam in South Asia and how the region influenced the Islamic religious architecture. [12] These newly arrived Muslims from the Islamic West escaped the Mongol Empire and emigrated to India, where they constructed religious centers. The Qutb Minar serves as a central marker to these new Muslim communities as well as being a reminder of Islam's presence in the area. [12] The architecture of the minaret varies greatly from that of the typical style and design of the mosques constructed in the Middle East. The style of these structures is heavily influenced by the local architecture such as the Indic temples. This affected the different materials, techniques, and decoration that were used in the construction of the Qutb Minar.

Qutab Minar is a soaring, 73 m-high tower of victory, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi's last Hindu kingdom. An inscription over its eastern gate provocatively informs that it was built with material obtained from demolishing '27 Hindu temples'. A 7 m-high iron pillar stands in the courtyard of the mosque. The Nearest Metro Station is Qutab Minar and it Open All days.
The Entry Fee Rs 40 for Indians, Rs 600
For foreigners.

Qutub minar is one among Delhi's Pride.
There is nothing much which people don't know already.
It has ticketed, price differs for Indian citizens and foreigners.
I went there alone. It is beautiful to explore the qutub minar and the other tombs around it.
It's well maintained and is usually crowded. Try avoiding weekends if you want to enjoy your space.
Right outside you'll have many food courts like subway and many other places. But inside nothing much to eat. You'll get water and street food.

World class architect with lots of things to see. Best time to visit during October to March as this place gets very hot during summers. Well worth the £6 paid to see this stunning 900 year old building close up. A few surrounding buildings to see too. Get the metro here from New Delhi - easy to get a tuktuk from the station to the momument. Just a bit outside of the city center but easily accessible with either Uber or a Tuc Thc, this sight is a must see in Delhi.
The monstrosity of the buildings is impressive. Although it was a little crowded it was well worth it even if you are not that into architecture. The mix of Hindu and Mughal culture is beautiful.

Ancient marvelous tower structure and ruins of old temple. Must see place if you are visiting Delhi.

The Qutub Minar metro station is an overhead subway stop on the yellow line of Delhi metro railway facility, designated for the ancient historical city of Mehrauli locality. Although it is not the nearest metro station to the renowned monument of Qutub Minar in Old Delhi (Saket, the next station on the same line being the nearest), one can visit numerous primordial monuments in the Mehrauli neighborhood from this station.

A portion of the ticket vending gateways are not working here, which can cause a great trouble on rush hours.
