The Potbelly Rooftop Cafe

Come here if you are craving for bihari cuisine. One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Khada masala mutton and Champaran Mutton were delectable.

Fish fingers weren't good.

I visited this cafe yesterday and everything was just amazing. We ate litti chokha, mirch masala Maggie, apple lemonade and pineapple cake. The food was so so so delicious, lip smacking. The atmosphere was cool and very peacefull surrounded by plants and beautiful window view. Suggest everyone to visit potbelly rooftop once.

This is our second time having lunch at Potbelly. We had tried food at their Bihar Niwas outlet in 2019. Ambiance was good. Food, it's presentation was very good. But it was not value for money. As quantity is very less in comparison to the price. Bihari food is not on the pricey side. We tried sabudana pakoda basket (starters), Ranchi pulao and Kalimirch chicken (main course) and saffron boondi hung curd (dessert).

₹460+ for just 4 Puris?

That’s tad expensive for such an ordinary cafe with an average ambiance and located in a congested location. Ironically, one can visit Patna from Delhi in a sleeper class in this much amount and taste the local food there.

I found the food very average, I ordered Madhubani Thali (Veg).

Positives:

The restaurant offers free RO water and doesn’t pitch mineral water bottle like most Delhi cafes.

The server was polite and explained the menu with patience.

Upon asking to remove service charges, they did so without asking any follow-up questions.

Overall, I didn’t find this restaurant value for money and I won’t recommend it.

Delicious food and a beautiful ambience. But most importantly, one of the most kind and humble staff. When I asked them for their recommendations, they very passionately explained the dishes and how they are prepared.

I had a Dana Jhamarua Thali and it was amazing. My only exposure to Bihari cuisine had been Litti Chokha prior to visiting Potbelly, so this was a very new and unique taste. The rice flour roti with poshta dana is so good.

Will be definitely visiting again.

Just a note, it is a rooftop cafe without any elevator. You need to climb four flights of stairs to reach the place.

Amazing, amazing and Amazing, this is the only way to describe the quality of food here. Tehri, Veg Biryani, boondi with Hung curd, Alook chop with Sabodana, it's all Indian food at Best. Have travelled extensively across the globe but this food is something very special. It has become my Thirth Sthan when ever I visit Delhi from Bangalore. It's a must try place.

The ambience is really cozy with good music and great food paired with great service. The only struggle is the extremely steep flight of stairs that we need to climb to reach the rooftop.

Been visiting this since 2010 and even after over a decade the charm of this restaurant doesn't fade away. The Maithili thali is love, you can try anything from the menu. It always taste great.

The dishes are from Bihar, hence you will find chatakh swaad khana. Indeed not a place to miss if you want to enjoy good food while talking to your friends.

They do not serve liquor and there are no dance floors in case you are looking for that ambience this is not the place.
This place is for those talkative friends and family who love to chit chat over food and have fun.

It has always been a 5 star place for food for me.

This place should be a must visit for everyone in love with the Bihari cuisine. The taste is authentic and the flavours stand out.

Has a great menu with variety of dishes from Bihar Bengal Jharkhand Belt. The service is nice, they'll help you with the menu if you're new to it, and if you know your Bihari cuisine, then they'll make sure the taste is authentic AF!
The littichicken is worth a try and if you cannot finish the chicken with litti, ask for a few rotis! You'll come out satisfied with a hand on your potbelly

If you like Bihari food, you must put Potbelly in your gastronomic map. Their Champaran mutton curry with laccha parantha are delicious.

Amazing food sabudana Basket is to good must try and alu lalu chops were also very different and tasted amazing.
To drink one must try salted and spicy lassi.

Good place to have Bihari Cuisine. It was my first time to have any Bihari Dish. But the taste of each dish was superb. We ordered litti chokha, litti with mutton, Chicken with pav, chicken biryani, fish goli, dal pakora's and some beverages. Everything was very tasty.
The ambience is also good. Just one issue is there, there is no lift to the restaurant. I went there with my parents. The staircases were very narrow. The restaurant is at I think 4th floor. So we had to go all the way up through stairs. So, it can be a little hard for elders to go for all 4 floors with that narrow staircase. But overall food experience was good.

One of the best places in Delhi to try Bihari cuisine. Though now they have increased the prices to almost double from how they started, the taste is still the same. Always recommend this place.

The stairs to reach the hotel are way too small and also the stairs length is also very much, no elevator also, so think twice before going there

Their chicken pakoda from MEAT BASKET and the chicken they serve with LITTI was tasteful, however I didn't really like their mutton pakoda nd KEEMA AALOO CHOP that much.

Location is a PLUS.

We had ordered Sabuddana basket, champaran style mutton and Bihari burger. Although a bit on the expensive side, you will not regret coming here. It was authentic bihari cuisine and worth every penny. Give it a try if you can.

Tasty cuisine a must visit place though you have to get on fourth floor to visit this one but the food is worth every penny

The restaurant, the staff and the food are all great. The stairs leading up to the restaurant aren't very pleasing though.

I have been to this outlet multiple times. The food is amazing. I have introduced some of my friends to Potbelly and they word Food-gasm in as often used, while they were in the middle of their meals.
I personally recommend the Makhana Thali at Potbelly. The portions and arrangement is quite good for a person with big appetite. I have also been frequenting their outlet in 32 Avenue, Gurugram. As aforementioned, amazing.

The food in 2015 and 2016 was good now I don't know the reason the taste has detoriated. Hopefully they can bring it back the quality and the authenticity.

The bihari cuisine offered by the cafe is very delicious and lots of variety.
The ambience is nice and service is also good. Must visit to relish Indian food especially bihari cuisine. Ranchi pulav is recommended

Food n ambience was nt at all hygienic.went there after reading d reviews online.but disappointed.all of us fell ill wid stomach infection after that.

Pathetic. Hopeless. They served broken glass pieces in our food. Disgusting. Horrified.
We went there on 22nd November and was horrified to see glass pieces on my dish.
By God grace. My friend is OK. But not sure what would have happened. If he had not noticed it and spitted it out.
Above everything else. They had the audacity to ask for bill.
We paid the bill and run for our lives.
Not at all a good experience.

Food is tasty and the ambience is great. The only things is it's on the fourth floor. Service could be improved to serve more fast. Overall good!

. One of my favourite restaurant in Delhi. There is a proverbs in Bengali which is translated " without pain, one can never gain anything". You are (after parking your car at road side) to walk down for about 10 minutes to reach Potbelly and then you are to climb the stairs (which are very stiff) upto 4th floor. There is no elivatoe.once you reach the dinning hall you will forget about the fatigue. Modestly decorated dinning space that can cater for about 30 heads at a time.you can see greenery out side the glass cabin. All the food products are really very tasty especially chicken related dishes. Bhojpuri veg biriani also famous. Management must not charges for service charges while billing since illegal.

Disappointed. That's the exact word to describe my experience.

1. Too much expensive and serving size is too less. I have tagged the price alongwith the dish. As per my past experience, I will never recommend this place
2. Can't imagine 2small pieces of mutton for ₹900. Lol. Even the plain costs ₹20/piece
3. It's on top floor with narrow stairs, no lift, so a big for Heart patients. The ambience is not good or theme based. I don't find it unique.
4. The waiters response and order delivery time was too much. I literally felt hungry again while waiting in between meal
5. The most important factor is the taste. I seriously don't find it unique. There are many Bihari food corner in the city and they sell far better than them that too at affordable prices.

Conclusion - Don't waste your money.else you will only regret later.

Potbelly rooftop as the name suggests is on the the forth floor and you can go there only by stairs.but the food is very very tasty and it's worth climbing up. This is a joint for Bihari cuisine only but great.

Food is good.specially the Litti Chokha and of course the pineapple upside down, n apple cinnamon cake with dollop of vanilla ice cream yummy

After reading the reviews went there with very high expectations. Disappointed with the ambience. Taste is okay but quantity is not.

This little gem is hidden in streets of shahpura jaat, Hauz Khas. Little difficult to climb but that's what keep this place it's aura.
Potbelly Rooftop cafe is one of the most amazing cafe I have seen so far. Not too much space at the top, the garden view is a secret only if you know you can go ;). Staff is very diligent. Must try is pakora Basket, litti chokha, chicken pepper rolls. Eid I forgot to tell you that they mostly serve bihari cusiine, not a great fan but one must try it once.

Couldn’t ask for more that a tiny place with few table sittings can offer a great comfort and cozy place to chat over with some good flavours of Bihar. Food was good so as the portion is friendly. Keep up the good work guys!

The food was amazing and also the place. But it is not disable friendly. Thanks Potbelly for providing delicious food. What I don't like was the staff. They were non-courteseas, sometime lazy and sometimes rushed. They never served the food properly, just keep the food on the corner of the table and run. Very disappointed by the service. Still made me to pay the service charges. Hope the team will look into it and send the staff to the floor after training them properly.

Food: Have tried there Phataka fries - cheesy fries (not crispy). Also had Kali mirchi chicken with pranthas, sabut daana tikki, dal Bharti and green apple lemonade. Food was just OK.

Ambiance: Beautiful ambiance with green view.

Service: Number of people in there staff was less as compared to the guests. Polite staff.

A charming location, great views and of course best of all, delicious food at good prices. Potbelly serves a unique menu, even in Delhi, of food from the Bihar region of India. There are lots of gluten free and vegetarian options, and everything is fresh and flavourful.

Probably the only place in India to savour authentic Bihari food. Prices on the higher side; but nothing can beat the experience.

A tad bit expensive but this place makes Bihari food beautiful. Food has never disappointed. Staff are cordial. But the approach to this top floor restaurant is through a narrow flight of stairs. There is no lift. So, wouldn't suggest this place for older persons.

A hidden gem in the heart of shahpurjat. Went for lunch with a friend and absolutely loved the food. Didn't know the Bihari cuisine could more than lithi chokha.the food for served fresh by very courteous staff and reasonable pricing. Must try aam panna, chicken Thalia with parantha and sabudana pakora, mutton curry with parantha! The food tastes like home cooked food and Tate's really good.
Things to watch out for:
1) the portion size - one curry + parantha combo can be shared between two people easily.
2) the stairs - it's quite a climb, worth it but one needs to climb 4 floors with very narrow stairs.
3) the location - very easy to miss.it's very close to the show garage so be careful!
