Beautiful place. But it's in ruins. So overall not worth the effort. Also if u have senior citizens with u. One should definitely avoid this place.
However the tomb across the fort is definitely worth a visit.

This is situated in the South Delhi. One of the monuments from mugal era.
It is under Archeological Survey of India (ASI) who look out for this fort.
Entry tickets can be purchased online from ASI website or from booth near the entry gate of the fort.
It is spreaded in wide area, you should have enough time if you want to explore it,
One can easily reach here, you have to take auto or DTC buse form nearest metro Govindpuri or badarpur border Violet Line metro.
No food stall is at the fort but outside may be some street vendors.
It is well protected, but some of the walls and structures are damaged over time period.
Preferable time to visit here is weekdays, no crowed on these days,
A lot of monkeys near the fort and some time they enters to fort.

The Tughlaqabad fort is mostly ruins now. Not super well maintained as such but recent restoration work has happened in some buildings inside. The place is big and has many interesting ruins such as hamam (royal bathhouse), a small mosque (recently some restoration work has been done), some half ruined bastions etc. Has some great view points of the old Tughlaqabad village.
Online ticket is rs 20, offline 25. But buy online because often the ticket counter is unmanned. Also lots of monkeys around so take care

These deteriorating traces of India's history are very beautiful and their beauty matters even more, especially in a congested city like Delhi.

I had the opportunity to guide a tour of tughlaqabad fort in association with toastmasters and I loved the experience of researching the tughlaq's given my childhood fascination with so called foolish sultan. I live very close to the fort and Everytime I pass by it I am overawed by it's ramparts and walls - always wondered why there are not a lot of people wanting to visit and know more about this place. I found out that the area has high crime rate andost of the fort area is inaccessible because of looting and crime at knifepoint. The area is not very clean esp meena bazaar in the citadel area - It's sad the state of affairs and though we organized a tour and cleanliness drive, a lot more needs to be done. But still it doesn't take always from the lonely beauty that this fort is

Located in the national capital city of Delhi, the Tughlaqabad Fort was built in 1321, by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq who founded the Tughlaq dynasty. The construction of the fort was intended to keep the marauding Mongolian raiders at bay and was known as the 3rd historic kingdom of Delhi. The fort is also connected to the tomb of Ghiyas ud-din Tughlaq, which sits at a scenic location beside a highly ornamental causeway.

Tughlaqabad Fort is one best historical place in New Delhi, India. Tughlaqabad fort was once a symbolic of the might of the Tughlaq dynasty. The Tughlaqabad fort was built by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq, the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty. The fort is spread over an extensive area and a piece of architectural marvel. Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq built the Tughlaqabad fort as part of Tughlaqabad, the third city of Delhi. This was the period of political unrest and there was continuous danger of Mongol attack from the North western borders of the Empire. To save the Empire and his subjects from the marauding Mongols, Ghiyas-ud-din built the Tughlaqabad fort.

Even though the fort is in a state of ruins, it bears testimony to past glory and might of the Delhi Sultanate. The massive ramparts, battlements and the mammoth stonework of Tughlaqabad fort speak highly of the architectural skills and advancement of the craftsmen. The Tughlaqabad fort served twin purpose of a defensive structure as well as the imperial capital of Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq. There are a number of monuments within the precincts of this massive fort.

The Tughlaqabad fort was completed in a short period of four years (1321-25). The fort's massive ramparts and bastions (as high as 15-30 m, built of enormous blocks of stone and walls 10 m thick in places) speak volumes about the might of the Sultanate. Within fort's high walls, double-storied bastions and massive towers were housed magnificent palaces, grand mosques and audience halls. The city lay on the eastern outskirts of the massive fort. On the southern side of the fort is the tomb of Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq, which was built by the ruler himself. The tomb is enclosed in a courtyard with fortified walls and a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture.

14th century ruined fort built by emperor Gayad uddin Tughluq. Fort is divided by a busy road into 2 parts. One host emperor's tomb.
Small entry charges are there i.e 30 rs for adults free for children.
This place is not wheel chair accessible.

Beware of monkeys.
There is a small tea stall near road.

Lessor known Fort but of great Historical Importance. Here only the last Hindu ruler Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya, popularly known as Hemu Sultan ruled Delhi. He never ever lost any battle except the last one against Akbar due to an arrow struck to his left eye. He was about to won but due to excessive bleeding, fell unconscious. Army thought him dead and fled. He was beheaded along with some 30000 thousand soldiers and their heads were displayed at this fort.

Nice place to visit with your family and freinds but only for one times.
Tuglakabad fort attraction is mina bazzar, and you take fresh air from the top of fort.

One of the exquisite treasures of NCR. It should be preserved from encroachment and becoming a haven for drug addicts. Stay in the area that is supervised by ASI. Dont venture out alone.

Not among the images that come to mind when I think about forts. Have seen better ones.
That's mostly because nothing much remains of the actual fort area (open to the general public at least).
Certain wall portions and bastions are the remnants in the present day. The inner walkway is also not delineated. A tad disappointing.

I love this place.
Open ground, old fort.
You can treck on it like mountainer.
Selfie is awesome with beautiful background.
