In all a small creative space containing touch of contemporary architecture and painting. It has been made by collaboration of two giants of their own fields Sir Balkrishna Doshi And Sir M F Hussain. There is no charge to visit. Adjoining there is one cafe, public sitting area and a small art exhibition hall.
Very cute and colorful place. It's a nice place to enjoy the view and have cups of Masala tea with your friends. 外型很可愛像是外星人的家,內部五顏六色非常繽紛,坐在外面的咖啡廳一邊喝印度拉茶一邊看夕陽非常舒適。
The most sought after art gallery in the city is housed in The Gufa complex. The Gufa is actually an underground cave structure, which can also be used for art displays; but isn't used much. There is a book shop here which stocks art books, catalogues and similar stuff. A cafe also operates in the complex. The only flip side is the rest room, which is not maintained well.
This place is inside the gujrat university. An art gallery which is booked every week for people to show their art. People bring their paintings and sketches and show it for exhibition. If u r interested in drawing and sketching then come here and find the extraordinary knowledge in this gallery.
Amdavad ni gufa is an art gallary known for its founder Balkrishna Doshi and for MF Hussain hosting his art work here in past. Artistic cave like structure gives another reason to visit this place.
This has been pretty much the same from the time I visited it 20 years back. Its less touristy place and has its own aura. Now a days it is maintained as a monument.
If you are an art lover then this place is must visit. There is a cafe and one working art gallery witin the campus which adds up charm to the place.
Cost: The entry to is free for Amdavad in gufa and for the art gallery within the campus.
Timing: It is open between 4pm to 8pm. Closed on Monday.
P. S. There is art work in abundance in this surrounding. L. P. Hutheesing art gallery is another place very closeby to this place, which hosts many art exhibition.
Amdavad ni Gufa is an underground art gallery in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat state of India. Designed by the architect BV Doshi, it exhibits works of the Indian artist MF HUSSAIN. While visiting Ahmedabad, Husain asked his friend Doshi to design a permanent art gallery for the exhibition of his works. Together they planned an underground structure capable of withstanding the area's severe summer heat. The gallery represents a unique blend of architecture and art. The cave-like underground structure has a roof made of multiple interconnected domes, covered with tiles. It was earlier known as Husain-Doshi Ni Gufa.
It's a cool place to hangout. A cafe with within it. The Gufa is nothing more than some piece of art. If you can understand than it's good or else it would be just empty room artistically constructed. A gallery is also there, which showcase beautiful painting. In short it would be interesting if you are ' Artistic' kinda person or else just enjoy the food of caffe. (Which I haven not tested)
This is a modern architect structure built by the art lovers. Here the structure is constructed below the ground level hence it is termed as Goofa, earlier it was a big ground open one. But the idea of artist utilise this place as a monument liked by art lovers, M. F. Hussain the renowned painter had painted inside. The cafe is good outside.and a very peaceful environment.
This place is for creative. Ahmedabad cave is a interesting place where different artist has shown their talent through different paintings inside wall of cave as well as kind of painting arts. Beautiful paintings from famous painters has been displayed there for visiters. Recommended to those who love arts.
Gufa is classically well decorated and it's an artificially constructed gufa but without any artificial ventilation. What you like is the outside area of this Gufa which has a small gallery, cafe and outer space. This place is more beutiful at evening.
From outside it looks big.bt nt tht much from inside.nat a bad place to visit.coffeshop is too costly.returning from der will be costly by cab as brts is busy cz of university students.
Went to check the paintings from Hussain in the gufa (cave). Its actually only a ceiling mural. Its more popular for the cafe attached to it. Cafe Zen is a neat cafe next to the gufa. As both gufa and the cafe are part of the University, the cafe tables get filled very easily. It has a very strong collegiate vibe. There are smallish auditorium steps one can sit on.food was ok (pita was dry and hummus lacked much flavour) the mint iced tea refreshing.
Love the Gufa! Beautiful work by MF Hussain. Surrounded by trees and a very calm, Zen Cafe, which adds up to the amazing experience. The place also has an exhibition gallery besides it.
A unique place located at most happening area of Gujarat university.least commercial noise.silent zone.surrounded by moving students.youngies create culture here
I'm not an art connoisseur, but I do appreciate art in various forms. The gufa is usually used to exhibit work of artists, but I had the opportunity to enjoy the space empty - allowing me to soak up the MF Hussain's art on the walls with no distractions. RIP to a great artist, as a layperson I felt honoured to walk the wall devised by architect Doshi and brought to life by Hussain
One of the beautiful place of Ahmedabad, surrounded by lush green trees and a must visit place to look at art work of sir M. F. Hussain. Here you can also have an amazing coffee at Zen cafe. Visit timing is 4pm to 7 pm only.
Well, my words will not be enough to express how much beautiful this place is. I literally find this place enchanting in a new way Everytime I visit. It really needs a bit maintenance and everything to keep the sanity and artwork intact. But irrespective of that, just aweeesome. Thanks Hussain for this gift to amdabadis.
Firstly dis place opens at 4pm, secondly it's an campus area opposite to Gujarat university and hardly 2min walking distance from L. D. CLG BRTS stop, there's a book shop also which also opens at 4pm, and even you can buy them.
Best place to spend time alone/with good company. There's an art gallery, gufa by Ar. Doshi, and zen cafe which serve real good beverages. A good physical and visual setting to spend evenings
