Good place to Visit.

Badly damaged due to earthquake but still you can see old archeological structures.

Some of the structures are just wow.

Need some maintenance around it. Don't visit during afternoon time. Other facilities like food, water etc not available in the vicinity so make your arrangements prior to visit.

The Chhatris in Bhuj were constructed in the 18th century by Jadeja ruler Rao Lakhpatji. The structure of these monuments is a unique mix of Rajputana and Mughal architectural styles. These umbrella-shaped dome structures are specimens of fine carvings in red sandstone. Also known as Royal Chhatris or Cenotaphs, these are basically monuments dedicated to the lives of warrior Rajput rulers of the Kutch. I was there at sunset and I highly recommend it. The word Chhatedi derives from Chhatri which means umbrella after the shape of the domes of the monument. Chhatris are popular all over Rajasthan and Gujarat. The Royal cenotaphs are usually associated with the resting places of the rulers of the region. Locals treat the structures with respect and they expect the same from the tourists. The Chhatedis at Bhuj were cThere are a lot of figures and images on the pillars around the Rao Lakha Chhatri. In the absence of historical information, I would just let my imagination run wild and construct stories about the human figures.onstructed by the Jadeja rules in 18th century. Not much was written about Chhatedi around the site. I saw one sign board and all my historical information comes from that source. The most ornate complex is called the Rao Lakha Chhatri. The architecture style is a mixture of Rajputana and Mughal styles. They are carved out of red sandstone. The Rao Lakha Chhatris are designed by Ram Singh Malam. A stone slab in the complex also suggests that 15 of the King’s wives gave up their life at the funeral pyre of Rao Lakha. Many of the Chhatris were damaged in the 2001 earthquake at Bhuj. I highly recommend a visit to Chhatedi in Bhuj, more so if you can manage go around the sunset time. Not too many people visit it. You might like to stay for 2 hours if you wish to take a lot of pictures. Swami Narayan Temple is nearby and that too is a beauty to hold at the sunset.

One of the most favourite locations for the Tourists of Kachchh.
The Royal Family Members of Kachchh are cremated here.

The Chhatedi of King Lakhaji is the most attractive one. It is just 1 km approx from Jubliee Ground and 500 meters from the New Bus Stand, Bhuj.

A must visit place.

If one use his imagination to feel back 300 years; than it won't feel like broken monuments for him. He will have a glance of glorious histories of Rajputs of that time.

The word Chhatedi came from Gujarat word chatri which means umbrella. Shape of all the roofs of these buildings were umbrella shape. This place is no where mentioned in Gujarat tourism. But if you are visiting bhuj just for a day, then you must visit this place where you can see beautiful ruins and if you are lucky then you will be able to see different species of birds around.

This is also a good place for photography like pre wedding shoots or short movie scenes. So do visit this place when you are in bhuj.

Visited this during day time. Nothing special to see except a big garden and old site. May be it feels good to visit during dusk or dawn hours. But otherwise there's not even a place to sit in shade during day time or no public toilets or any such basic facilities.

Garden outside the actual place is very nice. A continuous breeze can be felt all the time. But there's no cover over the Chhatedi. Sun is too harsh here. Must carry an umbrella if visiting in the afternoon.

Chhatedi word came from Chhataradi means in gujarati Chhatri in English Umbrella. Shape of all roofs of these buildings were umbrella shape that's why this place is known as Chhatedi.

Actually this place is cemetery for the Royal family of Bhuj. It is situated on the back lake of Hamir Sar Lake. You can easily reach by asking Mangalam Char rasta or direct name of Chhatedi.

Some shots of famous Bollywood movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Refugee were taken at this place.

As Bhuj bus depot is going to be renovated, temporary bus depot is exact opposite of Chhatedi.

There is green grass lawn surrounding this Chhatedi.
Tragedy is that after great massive gujarat earthquake 2001 many monuments are destroyed. Archeology department has recovered some buildings. Overall there was a legend past of Chhatedi.
The people who like history or historical place may like this place. Nice quiet atmosphere to spend quality time with friends and family The Garden is very beautiful. It has tremendous history. The best time to visit this place in the early morning or evening.

Chhatedi Bhuj - located near Mangalam cross road is the memorial place surrounded by landscape garden. The place is historic but currently under renovation as most part of it was destroyed during 2001 earthquake.

Many movies shooting was done at this place - most famous being Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Refugee.

Chatardi is more then 400 years old Heritage Structure.
The restoration done in 2018 gave it a new life.
It has a excellent garden attached to it and the Hamirsar lake at the other end.
