Galteshwar Mahadev Temple

About 16 km from Dakor is a Shiva temple of the Solanki era, situated on the alluring sangam (confluence) of the rivers Mahi and Galati where it is said lived Galav Muni Chandrahaas of Puranic fame. At present the lovely rocky bank of Mahi and the beautiful old Shiva temple on it has one spring of the River Galati constantly sprinkling water on the Shiva linga. Rich in art and architecture, it has a unique eight-sided hall. The walls have carved figures of Gods, gandharvas, humans, rishis, horse riders, elepant riders, chariots, doli (palanquins) and the events of a human life, from birth to death, are all depicted in these carvings.

Galteshwar is very important in the historic tourism and religious places of Gujarat in the Thasra taluka of Kheda district. This religious place is located at the sangam (confluence) of the Mahisagar and the Galti river.

It has a square sanctum sanctorum and an octagonal mandapa. Every year a fair is held in Galateshwar on the day of Janmashtami and Sharad Purnima. A large number of devotees throng here on Mahashivratri too

We visited this temple in October. I loved the vibes of the place. The temple's architecture is beautiful and the upper dome is repaired. The temple has been restored well. We visited the temple in 2023 post lockdown and there were very few people which took the experience one notch above. There is a beautiful small waterfall and river Mahisagar. Although there was a lot of water in October but it was very beautiful. Its only 1.5 hour drive away from Vadodara.

Galteshwar Temple: Serene, spiritual oasis by the river. Divine ambiance, basic facilities. Worth the visit for peace seekers.

900 to 1200 years old historical anciant temple. The dom was broken either by natur or act of Mugals. Recently Guj govt restored and made new dom. Near by flowing Mahe river is good spot for bathing.

Best place to visit from baroda, Anand and nadiyad.

River area is also clear and clean with clean water.
Advice to bring bath clothes with you.

Request to keep clean the, don't throw any plastic there.

Police security is available at all time even inside the river to avoid drowning in river case.

Well as a traveller I suggest this place to spend your day one of the place where one can forget about the daily city rush and just enjoy the day

This ancient temple is a must visit! When you enter the holy sanctum you will observe divine peace all around you!

Ancient temple of Bhagawan Shiva on the banks of Mahi river. Nice art work. Can relax for a while in surrounding garden. Food stalls are available in vicinity. Nice place for a small picnic.

Best place for small weekend getaways and enjoy with your family. Have an amazing water in river so it's fun to go and chill for a while der. 17 km away from Dakor so one can go visit their too.

It's very peaceful and enjoyable place at near Mahi sagar river for "Devadi Dev, Mahadev". It's very good architecture and Hindus valuable place.

This place is 17 km.far from Dakor, Gujarat. Temple is situated near bank of river Mahi. Archi tech of temple is too good. There is a garden besides temple and some crowd of trees so we can take rest under it. Overall good place. Also facility of parking. There are also some dhaba which are provide meals and cold-rinks.

This is an ancient mahadev temple established in 12th century A. D.majorly consisting malwa style of architecture and over the period of time it has also got influenced by some Gujarati style of intervention. Which is protected under national monuments of importance. Further it has a resemblance with the older structure of the mahadev temple at somnath which was destroyed by intruders. Really a place full of peace and auspicious environment.

I advice to visit this place other than public holidays or Sundays to imbibe the real feel of the vibrations of the place and history.

Besides that there is really entertaining rever bed besides the temple where we can enjoy a natural bath. Make sure to carry pair of dry clothes.

But there are not adequate changing rooms so it might be uncomfortable to change at the place.

River front of galti, very clean water, lots of people visiting on holidays, you will feel religious, snacks and packets available like waffer, bhajiya, serdi ras, even more full lunch near temple, paid temporary cloth changing facilities, any day one can enjoy, preferred with family and friends.

The place is along the bank of Mahi River in natural scenic view and due to recharge through Narmada Canal one can enjoy bathing in river till Feb at least. People offer Milk to the revered Mahi rever.

The river water is very clean and best for a bath in a holy river. Beware to go deep in the river as there have been incidents of people flown away with water force as the water flow a bit high here.

His Parking area is large and Paid Parking available.
Many types car and traveling bus is Confertable parking available.
All over this place location is very nice and attractive.

Very spiritual temple. Have been visiting since I was a kid. Also a good place to take bath from Mahi river in the month of Shravin.

This holy place is very famous for Shiv Temple which was built by King approximately 2000 years ago located at the bank of river Mahisagar

Best place to enjoy river bath.once you enter the river.you will not think get out of it.with group it's double fun.

The water is very clean and neat. We can enjoy lots of.under a big open blue sky.

But some bad people make it dirty by using soap and shampoo while having a bath.
Just bath don't make it dirty its a holy spiritual place.
Please save it for our future generations.

The Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva called Galteshwar Mahadev.
It is built in the 12th century with a unique style of malwa with the influence of Gujarati Chaulukya architecture. It has square garbhagriha as well as octagonal mandapa. The temple is located near the Mahi river and as a temple is called Galteshwar Mahadev the river also got Galta river. The is built in Bhujmi style of which is popular in regions under the rule of Malwa. The river Mahi / Galta has clean water, people came and have a small picnic.people use to take the bath in the river under the open sky. The depth is not much (from 2 to 4 ft). There is a little facility of changing the cloth for women which charges 5 rs. People can spend hours in the water and have fun with friends and family. The Temple Trust has 10 to 100 rs paid the parking charge for vehicle small to large. They also have the old style of Dharmsala to stay.its is 20 km from Dakor and 84 km for Ahmedabad. The local public is very helpful. The foods and drinks are so tasty like raw mangoes, tea, etc. Overall experience was amazing with the family

This is an ancient temple, located on the bank of Mahi river. This temple is under construction since long. It's having good parking lot. Have nice landscaping all around the temple. Also many stores are there on the way to temple. Many people take bath, enjoy nature on the bank of Mahi river. There is one bridge on river near to temple which is having scenic beauty in monsoon.
