Gir Interpretation Zone

Great experience. We took the bus. We saw a lion and a lioness. The leopard enclosure left us a bit sad. We obviously spotted the leopards but felt bad for them since they were in captivity.

Earlier in the day we had taken the Safari at the national park but unfortunately we couldn't spot lions or leopards there. So this salvaged the trip a bit for us.

There was less animals to see because of high temperature. So most of the animals were in shade.

It's an area of a Jangal to some extent captive. Journey by bus organised by authority from Devalya point and Jeep Safari too but pickup point is Sasan. Generally Safari in afternoon.

This place is good enough to watch lions, and other animals if you don’t get the safari in gir national park.

It's all upon your luck, If you are lucky enough you will see the Lion, Lioness, Deer and Jackals at the stone's throw otherwise you will end up seeing normal Jungle. You will only see glimpse of Leopards as they are not allowed to wander in the Jungle. One have two options here, either go in Jipsi from the Gir or if you have your vehicle then go to Devliya Park and then go in the bus. Jipsi is bit costly than bus and only 4 or 6 members are allowed in it so if you have big group than good option is bus. Do not expect good food here as canteen facilities are are not up to the mark other than that it's worth visiting, atleast once.

The place is located in the middle of sasan village, a showcase of Gir Forest. Gir Interpretation Zone provides services, such as, Gir Forest pass, Jeep services, amphitheatre, RO water purifier with reusable bottles, Air conditioner shop for clothes. Forest products such as, pure honey, Ayurvedic medicines, etc. The zone is Eco friendly and plastic free zone.

You may feel, products are costly here, I suggest, do buy.as the profit earned is used for forester security and welfare fund.

Jungle area with complete ecosystem involving different species of Deer, Black buck, Lion, panther etc.
Look out place for big cats.

Wonderful experience, you need prior booking online or 2 days before visit for offline during season only. With permit you can drive car at owners risks on selected area. Time required 2 to 4 hours for entire Zone.

We absolutely felt like the animals were injected. Tired n in a small area.
Looks very impressive but the reality was different. Ofcourse u can see the animals open n in front of u but their condition makes u feel pathetic.

We couldn't see many animals around except two lions and few leopards. Won't recommend if you have a zoo like expectations.

Could see limited number of wild life. Couple of lioness, deers and few jackals. The safari driver was good and very polite. Overall experience was underwhelming

A very nice experience. There are two options. Either by bus or a gypsy with protective grill.

We chose the bus. It costs ₹190.00 per person.

It is an approximately 30 min trip where they take you to the points where the lions, lionesses are sitting. They also take you next to an enclosure where the leopards are sheltered.

I would strongly recommend this visit because even if you fail to spot anything, here you certainly will and so can go back with fond memories

I suggest to visit this place even if you are planning for the Jungle Safari as you will not feel any disappointment if you don't find any lion in your Safari ride. Take the Devalia Jeep safari which started this year. To our luck, we were the first to take the Jeep safari in the interpretation zone.

First drive through a rough road to reach this place. Then get ready to stand in a long que for ticket. The wait long for your turn to visit the park. Canteen doesn't have many varieties. Finally when your mini old bus arrives you will get a not comfortable seat and a tiny window to view out. You might be so excited that you will see the lions. But i real these lions are just kept for the show. They are not The Lions. They seems very calm and weak. You might see some other animals as well. And tour will end up in 20-30 minutes. That's all this place is.

Entrance to the Safari park. While the Safari park is fabulous, you can only enter through advance booking through the forest department and on an approved gypsy. The interpretation zone itself only has a small museum and sad crocodile enclosure.

Please read literature beforehand to understand and appreciate the effort of forest staff. Almost a man made forest just outside sanctuary. Rudimentary facilities but well worth it. Almost assured of sighting of lion (which most of us miss in actual gir forest safari). Entire place is developed and maintained in a fashion similar to original habitat of gir lion.safari (bus) ply continuously, 8-11 am and 2-5 pm. No advance booking required. You are assured of a seat if you reach within timings.

It's a 30 minutes tour of the devalia national park by bus. Ticket charges are 150pp. They showed us caged lion, deer, and 2 lionesses. There is a jeep who knows where the animals are spotted and they tell the driver to take the bus to that point. It has no feel of a safari. We went to show our son lions.otherwise not a worth.they have an exhibition too, which was open but no display because of no power. Otherwise the park is clean.

It is same as a zoo
No more difference and tickets are also not economical.
Ride is hardly over 20-25 minutes.

This is not original safari.few animals are kept here.it's like open big zoo with safari experience. Not worth spending 3000.pre book the big safari.online booking is must to avoid rush

It is really a good place with regard to climate. As of lions is concerned it is an open zoo. If you avail the devaliya safari in a gypsy then you have a sure shot to watch them as they push in the lions for us to watch. We also get to see few more zoological species to watch like spotted deers, hyena, neelghai (blue cow) and leopard. Leopard is ofcourse locked up in a huge cage where they almost lay lazy. Don't expect any ferocious acts of lions.

Only place in india where you get to see Asciatic lions. In Gir lion safari there are 13 routes. Sighting a lion depends on your luck and the route number. More chances to see a lion in summer as the animals stay close to water bodies.

Vehicles are not allowed to take a different route even if lions are sighted in other routes.

For better chances opt For the early morning safari at 6 AM.

Good initiative by forest department to spot loins and other animals, its a made up and fenced open zoo not a real jungle safari.

The experience was good.dense decidious forest.lash green.glims of deer and other natural species.leapord and lion might me seen.its upon your luck really.there are 13 routes under the forest.and it is your luck where you can see leopard and lion.if you don't want to waste money go to diwalia park which is located near the gir forest.where lion and leopard has been kept and treated.

Gir interpretation zone is best idea to give safari experience to everyone. Its a bus ride through very limited area you can spot fox, peacock, valture, spotted deers and of course lion. It's best idea to get morning 8 am safari for spotting lions. From 8 to 11 am bus ride is for every half an hr. But if no. Of tourists are less than they starts 1st safari by 9 o'clock. Tickets is for 150 rs and with seat no. On first come basis. Over all good experience must try

It's a waste of time. A short trip (around 15 minutes) in an old and unmaintained bus. Lion sight is guaranteed here but it definitely seemed as if the 2 lions were forcefully entrapped within this premise.
If you're a foreign visitor, please avoid visiting this place. You will end up paying a too high price for a bad experience.

Due to electricity shut down, we had to see all the exhibits in the museum with the mobile torch. Devaria safari tour in the bus for 1/2 hour was good. It is closed on Wednesdays. Current charge is Rs. 150 per person.

In you need rest from work than you have to visit here. No call and leave with nature like a new life. You can see wild life and also a special Asiatic lions

Nice Place.children are very heppy with jurney.bust ture time 8 am to 11 am, and 3 pm to 5 pm, Gir safari bus charge is 150 Rs.per person. 100% view of lion, lapord, fox, deer, many birds.

Could not get chance to go inside for safari, but from outside maintenance it looks things are professionally managed there. It had clean including the washrooms.

Very secure place for lions.and guide give us the best knowledge of their lions.there are some cheeta also in gir interpretation zone

Awesome place.nature can be fully viewed and captured in eyes. This place is near Somnath temple, one of the jyotirlinga among the 13 jyotirlingas. From Somnath you can hire a taxi car which will charge you about 2k. On the way it's beautiful mountains, rivers, jungle you can see. At the park you have to buy tickets & then they will take you in a mini bus along with other covisitors. You can see various wild animal like Lion, Tiger, Leopard & some cute little dears & monkeys as well. It's best to visit with family or friends.

If you missed Tigera at Gir National Park. You can definately spot Tigers in Gir Interpretation zone, also known as Devaliya Safari.

Excellent place to visit with family except rainy season as it remains closed. Here you can have glimpse of many wild animals in their natural habitat. But you want to see real man eaters then go to Sakkarbaug Zoo, Junagadh.
