They Charge 3500 for Gypsy But Mention 2000 on Official Website, Guide charges Are Applicable 400 and Permit Of 6 member is 800 which Is Not Changeable And Fill The Details Correctly Other Wise They Will Not Allow anybody else To Enter. Keep Patience and Enjoy Dont Seek For Only Lion.

We booked for 9.30am to 12.30 time slot. This time slot is scam, as they also know that lion or any other wild cats cannot see in this time slot. Still they sell the tickets for same. Total waste of time and money. Best time slot with 90% chance to see is morning 6-9 and 50% chances in evening 3-6 pm. Morning 9.30 to 12.30 hopeless, you could see only Deer's and Sambar's, that it.

Much hyped national park with very costly safari for upto 6 person will cost Rs. 4,900/-. Spotting lion is luck, other animals like deer, peacock can be seen. Visit only if first slot is available, 2nd slot is a waste of money & time.

Not good experience with staff. One day prior we got WhatsApp MSG and email that new vehicles added, i.e Bolero and allotment is depends on availability, we saw that normal Jeep are also available still they are forcing traveller to take Bolero with 3000 Rs extra cost and they were giving Naaz Tours and Travels receipt for which we have argued and took our 3000 Rs back stating give us receipt which belongs to Gir forest but they afraid and gave us money back. Guys please don't go for any other vehicle other than which you have already booked, even police authorities were not having justification for it. Authority should look into this as these guys are doing all these transactions in cash and not accepting any online payment option in Digital India era.

The Forest is quite different for other forest, but spotting a Lion is a matter for luck. Lioness & birds could be spotted easily. We went for early morning safari and it was awesome.cold air and the Jungle slowly lighting up. We stayed for one day & took just one trip.we did a mistake. Below are some tips to make the best for GIR Forest.
1. You need to to multiple trips (4-6 Trips) for min 2-3 Days.
2. Take one early morning safari. Its a different to see the forest is early morning.
3. There are multiple routes. Make friendship with the Guides / Driver.they can suggest the best route for Lion spotting or spotting a family with cubs.
4. There best time to spot a Lion is not morning, its evening and during hot weather. At this time, the Lion comes nearby the routes to drink water from Man made water bodies along the routes.

Worst experience ever in my life visiting this third class place as everyone is trying to loot you even the government in the name of jungle tigers and other animals. Try other place rather than this.

Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Sasan Gir, is a forest, national park, and wildlufe sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India.

This is the only remaining place for the Asiatic Lions. The Sanctuary is a part of Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests eco region.

It was established in 1965 in the erstwhile Nawab of Junagarh's private hunting area, with a total area of 1412 sq km, of which 258 sq km is fully protected as national park and 1153 sq km as wildlife sanctuary.

Best time for wildlife spotting is April and May.

The preservation of these lions was initiated by the Nawabs of Junagarh when they were just about to enter the extinction phase due to hunting.

If you have not visited gir jungle safari yet, book it right away. Just note, Gypsy safari is closed between 16th June to 15th Oct every year due to monsoon. Ts a best place in Junagadh-Gujarat-INDIA and when you travel in any part of this region or passing through this region than you should stay 1 or 2 days in junagadh or near by sasan area, This Gir forest is around 2Km from Sasan and 35 Km from Junagadh you can reach by car with in 30 to 40 minute from junagadh, and for staying there is a best place named Hotel Lotus, Near railway station, Junagadh.hotel people can arrange everything for you if you want to 1 day trip to Gri forest, as per my views must visit and kids love that place.for food and all you get good restaurant at Gir forest, also there are hotel welcome Taj Group.you can stay over night there also.in short must look and visit. We stayed at the Taj property and had asked them to arrange a jeep safari. This needs permission from the govt so do plan ahead of time. Book for early morning safari for a better chance of seeing lions.

In general the forest not very dense or green, it's dry and pretty monotonous due to almost one or two vegetation types mainly.

Seeing lions, don't expect a grand show or some thing. If you get to see one or two lions even at a distance consider yourself lucky.

We went 2 times. Once in the jeep, this was good. The second time we were told that the govt runs buses with 16 people in each bus and they take you exactly where the lions are. I consider it quite useless. And hand pitiable part is that there are people in the bus that have waited for almost 6-7 hours in a line to see the lions and they are very anxious to see them. You do get to see, but not very clear due to the way the bus is built.

Instead there is a nearby reserve, devaliya. Just go there and you will surely see lions much more closer than even in Gir. First day experience at Gir

Its 2.30am. Sleeping cozily and all by myself in a 3-bed tent, I am woken up to alarm calls of deer. They are not too close, yet I can hear them as if they were just a few hundred meters away.

They come from 3 different qaurters of the forest. The alarm calls stop and I resume sleep.

Its 5am now. I am woken up to alarm calls of deer again, and in the distance, I hear the lions sounding their characteristic territorial calls. This atmosphere reminds of the famous Val Kilmer movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness".

I seem to be the only outsider and the manager of the resort Sailesh Bhai is surprised that I have come all the way from Bangalore to see lions.

How Safari is Booked

There are two ways of booking your safari;

1. Speak with your tour operator. He will get a person to go and hold a place in the queue. At 2.30am, you need to wake up and replace him to purchase the tickets. If you have a driver with you or a tour guide operating the tour for you, you don't have to wake up so early.

2. You can book your safari online. The disadvantage some persons feel is that they make new friends and if they want to take them along for a safari, it will not be possible. In such cases, a physical booking on the spot is beneficial. Remember, you cannot add persons physically once you have done an online booking.

I visited this place 5 years back. No idea how much it got changed but it's national park so one should visit this park with you son/daughter.

If anybody ever wants to visit the Gir National Park, its a kind and valuable suggestion to book government JEEPs FOR SAFARI. And don't ever take a private cab/Innova for safari as they will fool you (use social roads for safari and not take you the way the JEEPS do). Especially RAFIQ Bhai named guy's Innova should never be booked, the driver will neither drive slow nor will listen to you if you want to attend the nature's call.

Now Gir is only business than nature and natural lions. Too many commercial operations and hotels surrounding Sasan - pet kind of lions in safari route made Sasan trip just a Commercial Zoo trip. Sasan has lost its originality and charm in last 5-7 years. It is sad to see loosing this amazing place to very high amount of tourist and commercialization. It is now becoming Jungle of Resorts and Hotels!

Enclosing some horrible image of traffic in Gir and its surrounding area which itself tells the future of this LAST HOME of lion. Just 10 years ago It was so calm and low key place, but greed of human has ruined this forest. There were very few Jeep safari were allowed earlier, but these days they are allowing hundreds of permits every morning, noon and evening. Soon they may need traffic police inside the jungle to manage these hundreds of vehicle.

Few years back its air was so clean, but now it’s AQI is more than 60! Can you imagine a Jungle area can have AQI as high as 60+? Please check yahoo weather to cross check this. Imagine how much pollution is happening there…. It is wake up call for Forest Department and nature lover…PLEASE SAVE THIS PLACE FOR LION! Its almost ruined!

Very bad experience with gir safari booking. They accept too many people with very less slots due to which its difficult to get booking. They say waiting list but it never gets confirmed. Not worth visiting this place unless you get a confirmation. Devayali is also not worth since it's like zoo. So overall DISAPPOINTING place.

Also devayali safari is like a zoo for which they charge 3000rs. Again WASTE of money. Also there is car route till half the way. So go by personal car.

A great place for nature/animal lovers. The only place outside Africa where you can see lions in the wild. The safaris are well organised. Vivid is making things a bit difficult at the moment.

Very disappointing experience.
Only one lioness could be spotted that too was forced to come out.
All the driver's & guides have only ONE sentence to say that is, if you are lucky you will get to see the Asiatic lions.
Means all the tourists were unlucky, for not being able to a spot any lion?

Its a beautiful national park where we sited 4 lions in wild after driving 6 hours. There is an African community called Maldhari which lives inside the national park and communicate in local language. It's very interesting to know about their history

Recently my nephew and grandson visited the Gir National park and had all praise for the lions and tigers they could see. There were foxes, neelgai and enough prey for the wild animals

As far as wildlife is concerned, it's disappointing to see only one lioness and 3 caged leopards on jeep safari (none of the Asiatic lions). And the guide will tell everyone, it depends on their luck, which I enquired nobody is lucky.
Even in the jungle, will find many deers and foxes but no lions sadly.
But the lodging, food and hospitality is very good.

This is the only place in the world where you can see Asiatic lions. Past from the lions and leopards, the Jackals, striped Hyenas, and India Fox are some of the smaller carnivores found here. Several birds and reptiles also find a home in the forests.

This is worst park, waste of time and money. You can't see anything else apart of 1 or 2 lions. That also not sure. Your luck. Remaining deers, peacocks we can see any where. Nothing special in that park.
Worst things - Mud roads and lot of dust. They could have been put proper roads. It's big hype without content.

Gir National Park the only remaining habitat for Asiatic Lion. Only place where you can see Lions to roaming freely. To watch this whole habitat govt.has provided SAFARI so that you can enjoy the trip by confronting the Lions ad other animals. It was the most amazing moment for me when a Lioness came very close to our jeep (so that we can see them very closely and can take her pictures:)
You can also spot Chital, Nilgai, Chinkara, Blackbucks.
Kamleshwar reservoir/Dam near Gir National Park is also a nice place to visit.

At Gir forest office we face lots of Fake people who bluff the tourist for Safari ride they trap the tourist and make money.also gir Authority have to improve the service, at Gir we face bad experience on spot booking, they have to make spot booking for Gir Safari& restrict all Dalal (agents) people in gir booking office primaces.

Must visit of you want to see large Asiatic lions. You have since decent stays available but make sure before your plan your visit you know of the timings as for few months in the years the park is closed the best time to visit the park is winter when it's not very hot and animals are out for Sun bathing

One and Only residance of the Asiatic Lion on the planet.its very beautiful surrounded with various species of tree. This national park has lot to offer for nature and wild life lover. Best season to visit is Oct 15 - 31 March. Park is closed during June 15 to Oct 15.

Lovely place, could see the lions and other animals in their habitat. Safari trips are very nicely designed. Vehicle parking and other facilities at the wait area are also very good. Because of heavy rush, online advance bookings atleast 2 weeks before is advised.

We were not fortunate to see asiatic lion.bad luck.but jeep ride for 3 hours is awesome. I doubt the guide in safari took the route no. 3 where we could not see any jungle king. Langoor, peacock andfew deers we could only see. Wastage of time and money

one mostly for non lion safari but if luck favours you may find one or two but you can find other animals like spotted dears, samba dears, grey langur and mongoose etc
And another place is devaliya where you will definitely get to spot the lion lioness sometimes even their cubs so plan accordingly to watch or spot which ever animal you want to not what they show
For devaliya they do accept current bookings for another place we have to book prior do visit their website to get the booking details and for permit you need your orginal aadhar
So plan this weekend away from the city atmosphere

The place is clean but main reason is service is not good. The price is also high and the animals are only sleeping no more the 2 to 5 animals are there. The guide which we get for bus does not take close to the animals.

Its a huge sanctuary in Gir. Beautiful place to bisit. It is famous for lions. You can also find other animals like lots of deers, rabbits, different types of birds and many more.
You first need to take permit to get entry in gir national park.
You need to pay for Jeep and they will give u a ride in jeep through the national park. I jeep, a driver and one guide will be there.
When we were entering gir area early morning and we saw a big rabbit and other small animals on our way. But we didnt get an opportunity to see a lion.
Our experience was bad with the guide, because continusly asking for extra money for showing lion. They actually charge for entry which includes showing a lion and the charges are pretty high. Still he didnt show us lion and he was asking for extra money.
He was not even interested in the ride.
