Koteshwar Mahadev - A Serene Sanctuary on the Banks of Sabarmati
Nestled along the Sabarmati River in Koteshwar, the Mahadev temple is a haven of tranquility and spirituality. The credit for the pristine surroundings goes to the dedicated volunteers who tirelessly maintain the cleanliness of the premises. My visit on a rainy day revealed the unwavering commitment of these volunteers, who worked diligently with vipers and brooms in hand.
Peaceful Ambiance: For followers of Mahadev, this temple is a must-visit. The peaceful surroundings offer a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Sitting on the riverside bench, you can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, creating a perfect setting for meditation and introspection.
Architectural Marvel: The temple's architecture is a testament to exquisite craftsmanship, adorned with well-designed and precisely carved walls and ceilings. Every detail reflects a deep reverence for the divine, creating an atmosphere that resonates with the spiritual energy.
Aarti Experience: Participating in the aarti at Koteshwar Mahadev is a delightful experience. The rhythmic chants and the flickering flames offer a sense of calmness, providing a conduit to seek the blessings of Mahadev.
Photography Restrictions: While the beauty inside the temple is captivating, photography is understandably restricted to maintain the sanctity of the space. Visitors are not allowed to carry mobile phones or cameras inside, emphasizing the importance of preserving the spiritual atmosphere.
Management Considerations: To enhance the visitor experience, it would be beneficial for the management to consider improvements. Providing lockers for belongings or allowing essential items inside could alleviate concerns and contribute to a more convenient and organized visit for devotees.
Overall Impressions: Koteshwar Mahadev is more than a temple; it's a serene sanctuary that offers a profound connection with the divine. Despite management considerations, the spiritual journey and the picturesque surroundings make it a noteworthy destination for seekers of inner peace and blessings.
Pure bliss is what you experience the moment you step in the temple. What positive aura the temple has. You can just sit for hours.mobile phones are not allowed in temple.
The temple of Koteshwar Mahadev is located on the banks of Sabarmati River in the area of Koteshwar. Credit of maintaining cleanliness of premises goes to the volunteers. I went there on a rainy day and the volunteers continuously working there keeping viper and broom in hands. Mahadev followers must visit this place as the surrounding is very peaceful. You can enjoy the nature at its best sitting on the bench on riverside. The architecture of the temple is quite wonderful with the well designed and precise carvings on the walls and ceilings. The aarti at the temple is delight to join which offers you calmness and helps in seeking the blessings of the Mahadev. Inside photography is not allowed infact u would not be allowed to carry your mobile/camera inside.
Area needs to be improved for Management: Either allow belongings (purse/wallet/handbags) and mobile in the temple or provide the facility of locker to the devotees.
Don't get fooled by recent reviews. This temple is NOT open for devotees till Shivratri 2021. But great spot and a very nice temple though I saw only exterior. Main temple door was closed.
I was regularly visiting this temple every week for 3 years.it is the most decent and peaceful place i have ever been felt. I am not that much religious type person but I got peaceful feeling when I come here.here I listed best part about this temple: location: you will feel you came out of the city though it's not that much far from city.it's on shore of sabarmati river and situated on height so it's get a landscape view of river with city. Aarti: i can write what is the feeling of attending aarti of God mahadev here.specially in last when everyone raise their hands and says HAR HAR MAHADEV.
Must visit when you are near Sabarmati, motera, chandkheda, airport.
This is a place you can term as close to perfection. At the outset kudos to the team behind this temple who have both given an outstanding temple and equally surpassing garden landscaping. That too is well maintained. Have a pious darshan and prasad too. Just sit inside temple for sometime and breathe in a holy feeling. Outside gardens are like mini moghul gardens of Rashtrapati bhawan. So captivating and offers well manicured plants and trees rushing out to embrace you. A must visit place both for locals and tourists to Ahmedabad. Parking and public convenience facilities available. Good no vendors outside temple as this keeps the place clean. Experience for yourself what described as there is more to eyes then what you read here. Photography of main temple interiors not permitted. Well then have your own darshan and visit this gem of a temple at the earliest. Be blessed.

Temple of lord Shiva located at koteshwar, motera. Temple is next to Sabarmati river. View from temple is beautiful. You can see power house and newly built motera cricket stadium. Temple is very beautiful, clean.
Peaceful with greener surroundings at sabarmati river bank. Har har Mahadev! Very well designed and maintained. The temple architecture is like Somnath Jyotirling. You can feel the peace in ambiance. Shorts, trousers and tracks are not allowed. Girls should wear ethnic clothes, not shorts please. People from Koteshwar and surroundings Location like motera, chandkheda and other part of east Ahmedabad visit this temple on regular basis. On Mahashivratri and other festivals, temple is crowded by thousands of people. It is located at the river front area. Boom shankara!
Good location to spent quality time with family. It is advisable to go thr with personal vehicle rather depwnding on cab. It is remote area and you can face problems in case ur stay thr goes beyond 6pm.

A beautiful religious place for devotees of Lord Shiva. On the banks of River Sabarmati, lush green gardens, beautiful landscape, huge temple of Lord Shiva which is replica of Pratham Jyotirling "Somanath" among Dwasash (12) Jyotirlings. Somnath Mahadev itself having different image and feeling which we can't compare but can say replica but quiet peaceful place at riverbank in the crowded area of Motera and most crowded city like Ahmedabad. You can get peace of mind. Place is very clean also. Strict in rules and regulations. People can't carry water bottle or food items inside the temple so its clean.
Like this place. Holy temple in large space. Lawn area is so good and maintained to sit and hear devotional chanting. They have restriction of some type of the outfits that doesn’t suit while entering, that is good thing to maintain our cultural values.
Very peaceful and quiet surrounding. I just wish the security guards at the entrance would be a bit more discreet.they are very annoying and their behaviour is very brusque.
Very nice place, Koteshwar mahadev mandir is well maintened, it's on the bank of Sabarmati river, there is large garden with green grass on it which is well maintened, it's good place to spend evening time with family.
