A superb and strong fort occupied in a large area is very much worth visiting atleast once in a time. You can have your best experience in photography also. Its a seaside fort where you can have good experience of Rann also
It's old and abandoned fort situated at 123 kms from Bhuj. The property is maintained well by Gujarat Tourism but you will see some plastic thrown by tourists. You can see vast dessert from top of the fort. It's having lot of good location for photography. Covering entire fort will take atleast 2 hours. Only boundry walls of fort are remaining, so basically you have to walk on these walls to get a view. No food and water available, so plan accordingly. There is Gurudwara where you can have food. If you are visiting Gujarat for tourism then this place is must to visit. Though nothing much to see there, views from top and calm surrounding makes it a must visit place. Roads from Bhuj are well maintained and in top condition.
It is getting renovation work after that it will be must visit place in Kutch. 135 km from bhuj, public transport from bhuj is only two times 0530 AM and 1230 PM
Nice village under the fort.lovely layout.combination of temple, mosque and Gurudwara is all here.there are Rann and sea behind as well.in short its quite picturesque.
Recently develop this place by Gujarat Government. A Historical place to see ancient trading gate way and one of the small Gurdwara - a place with historical importance visited by Guru Nanak Devji in 1700-1800 AD.
This place has good history.but not economical to visit this place. There is only one wall, in the inner side village is located. And the other side is empty place but view is quite good. Morning and evening time is best to visit Lakhpat fort. There is no general store or nor drinking water no food so please carry water bottle and lite food.
The lakhpat fort and lakhpat village is very good place to visit in Kutch lakhpat fort has over 200 years of history it has great views from the top it covers around 5 km of area must visit place if you come to kutch and also try to know the history locally
Lakhpat fort is situated about 135 kilometers from Bhuj, the district head quarters, at the mouth of Kori (Cori) Creek, in the Kutchh district of Gujarat, India. It is an and structure, and was renovated by Fateh Muhammad in 1801. The fort is surrounded by a 40 feet high stone-built wall, which has 4 gates and a large number of watch towers. On one side of the fort is the Arabian Sea. The city of Lakhpat was a thriving industrial centre and a busy port, and a connecting point between Gujarat and Sindh. It is this place from where the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanakji went to Sindh en route his pilgrimage to Makka (Mecca). A Gurudwara was constructed inside the Lakhpat fort which stands strong even today. This Gurudwara houses the wooden shoes of Guru Nanakji he wore during his journey to Mecca. There are several Muslim religious spots like an old mosque, a Makbara (mausoleum) in the name of a famous PIR Ghaus Muhammad and a Darga. There is also a famous Shiva temple called Hatakeswar Mahadev temple inside the fort.
Lakhpat's fate crashed in 1819, when a massive earthquake hit the area and shifted the mouth of Indus river further north. This hit the industries of Lakhpat and gradually almost all people left the place, and today Lakhpat has become a ghost town with less than 1000 population. The fort is a station of BSF now.
Heritage, and bravery of our nation in past. Miracle moment. And salute to our army secure the border of our India. Lakhtar fort nearest to pak. Border just 30 km. And sea view is too good
The fort wall is so big and long. The wall is around the village. The view up on the wall is so super especially the sea desert view is superb. There is gurudwara, temples and residential area in the fort.
Lakhpat fort, Historically Lakhpat has been a very important trading post connecting Gujarat to Sindh, the Indian state of Gujarat located at the mouth of the Kori Creek. The town is enclosed by 7 km long, 18th century fort walls.
One of the best place to observe and study Geology. Once a developed port and on the banks of river Indus river is devastated after 1819 earthquake. Gurunanak Sahib stayed here while going for Haj pilgrimage from here. There's Mosque with stone work. Before 1819 Lakhpat was trading hub. Chinese Traveller also mentioned about this place. There r many Buddhist caves. Lakhpat was also known for healthy and taste red rice when Indus was flowing from here. Right now Gujarat tourism with Hunaarshala is providing stay. Else nearest stay is in Panandharo and Narayan Sarovar.
Lakhpat Fort is one of the best places to visit in Kutch, Gujarat. Here we can see a small town surrounded by a big fort, which was built in ancient times to protect it from external threats. We can go upstairs on the fort and see the splendid beauty of the 'Rann' meeting ocean. In the days of winter, it's a scenic view of desert with the fine sheet of white sand. One must visit this place while on the tour of Kutch.
It is historical place where whole lakhpat village is inside the fort it is most quiet place ever.it is situated near the rann of Kutch and near ind-pak border.one of the best place to see for history lovers.
Well maintained. Fort has inbuilt old toilets. The toilet is like just a hole and covered closely by walls, No doors. No water. No shade. They are built between one fort walls at regular intervals. Good view of Rann if Kutchch form here. People have settled inside the fort. The are inside the fort is very big. Car parking is available inside the fort and car can go inside the fort gate. Climbing stairs and then walking above is very dangerous as the walkway is about 3-4 feets. Climbing the fort wall from outside is strictly prohibited, fine can be imposed or sent to jail or both. Do not throw garbage or spit inside the fort permises, Swatch Bharat.
It's supposedly 50ish km from Pakistan border, so you get to see beautiful horizon. There is an army post on the fort and the soldiers are sweet enough to indulge in conversation. They even lend us their binoculars to view. There is little to see inside the fort but the view is amazing
Actually there is to see over there as there is not actual fort but it was just fort wall only.there is guru dwara near by u can have free food over there
When you're in Gujarat coast line, a good historical place to explore surrounded by nothing but barren land now. Amidst Indian Army built-up and Famous Holy Gurudwara, the place has a story long forgotten but again it's a package visit with Gurudwara being in the spotlight.
