One of the rarest temple I have ever seen. The temple has 5 distinct swayambhu Shiva lingams on a square platform and each is having a Nandi statue facing it. This temple is submerged during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. During the high tide, the idol of the lord is submerged and all that can be seen are the flag and a pillar. The temple is built by the Pandavas, so it has 5 shiva lingas. It is more beautiful when go there at sun set. At sun set it has an awesome experience.

Our visit to Nishkalank mahadev was serene and unlike any other. There is a 1 km patch between the shoreline and temple, and one has to be cautious while crossing it. The temple consists of 5 shivling worshipped by Pandavas.

A divine place connected with mythological stories, about an 40 mins drive from Bhavnagar.

Best experience is to sit on the beach and watch the water level going down / raising up.

What out for high / low tide timing (which keeps varying) before reaching their. We had to visit twice because we were unaware of proper time.

Very good and pure vibe was lucky enough to reach on low tide, do consider walking barefoot. The sand is so soft. Over all enjoyed

Great temple to visit, natural wonder.

Before you visit please check the tide timings and plan accordingly. Darshan will be avalable for 4-5 hours in day and night time. In other timings it will be normal sea. So if you miss the darshan on the first day, you might need to wait for 20 hours for darshan again.

Flower, coconut and pooja items are available on the beach itself. Plan for 30 min walk both ways. I understand it is heavily crowded during Amavasya/Pournami, so plan accordingly.

We went 8: 30am the water at temple premises at 9: 30am the water far away from the temple at a distance of half a km distance

It's located near shore of koliyaak beach, you can reach here by private vehicles or autos, bhavnagar being the nearest station and focal point.

People who are planning to visit should strictly see the tide data and check with the temple timings, based on different thidhis (days as per regional calenders) temple timings vary, pournami (full moon day) being the last time to visit the temple (7: 30PM at night) and day after pournami being the earliest time to visit (around 7AM)

The temple is surrounded with 5 shivlings said to be placed by pandavas after their war with kauravas as part of their repentance.

It is said that who prays for dharma rajs shivling will get blessings from every shivli there.

Five shiv lings made by Pandavas themselves to clear their sins. The temple is at the place, you can not visit in high tide but you can visit in low tide only by foot. Birds view can be possible in winter time. It is somewhat far from main highway. Public transport not available like buses. Small transport like Autos or other Savari vehicle available from near by places like Bhavnagar.

Extraordinary nature, but better check time before visit. When we went it was no moon time so by morning after 11 only water started going back we saw this place by afternoon only. Check timings.

The temple is believed to be built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra War. Legend says that after killing all the Kauravas, Pandavas began to feel guilty for their sins. To discover reclamation for their sins, Pandavas consulted Krishna who handed them a black flag and a black cow and asked them to trail and said when both the flag and the cow turn white, they will all be forgiven. Lord Krishna also asked them to apologize to Lord Shiva after that. They followed the cow everywhere it took them and acknowledged the flag for many years to various places, yet the shades did not change. Finally, when they reached the Koliyak Beach, both turned white and soon the Pandavas meditated on Lord Shiva and apologized for the sins committed by them. Lord Shiva impressed by their prayers, showed up in lingam form to each brother. Hence, they named it as Nishkalank Mahadev which means being spotless, clean, and innocent.

The famous fair known as 'Bhadarvi' is held on the new moon night in the month of Shravan, as per the Indian calendar. The temple festival is initiated by hoisting the flag by the Maharajas of Bhavnagar where this flag is on for 364 days and is changed only during the next temple festival.

The devotees visit the temple by walking barefooted from the shore during the low tide. Devotees first wash their hands and legs in a pond called Pandavas pond, upon reaching the temple and then visit the shrine. The tides are active especially during no moon and full moon days and devotees eagerly wait for the tides to disappear on these days. So, kindly note the schedule of high tides and low tides of the sea before visiting the shrine as the entire visit of the Mandir depends on it

It was an absolutely amazing experience to visit this mandir. We booked an private auto from Bhavnagar to the mandir. It cost us 500rs. Totally worthy! We reached by 12pm. So we had to wait for 40-45 mins for the water level to get low. So we could walk and reach. Har Har Mahadev.

Neat and clean placeof worship where 5 Lingas of Mahadev is worshipped each made by The Pandavas as per body size. The biggest one belongs to Bhim. Visit this place during low tides to avoid delay and stoppages.

Nishkalank Mahadev temple is located at Koliyak village, near Bhavnagar. What is special about this temple is it is located at 1 km distance into the sea. When sea water recedes from morning to evening, people can visit this temple. The rest of the time, water level increases and the temple gets submerged. One has to walk 1 km through muddy surface to reach the Shiva linga. There is no roof or temple kind of a site. The Shiva Linga is installed on an open area. It was a good place to spend some time with evening breeze off the sea.

Nice place for the worship of Bholenath. Devadhi dhi dev mahadev is situtated inside the ocean. When the waves come than the water is surrounded and even ling of shiva will deep into the water only flag of the temple will be visible when full wave will be there. Nice place for the children and senior citizen also. Nice place to visit with family whole day you can enjoy with family.

गुजरात के भावनगर क्षेत्र में कोलियाक तट से समुद्र के भीतर 3 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर भगवान शिव का यह अद्भुत मंदिर स्थित है। समुद्र में ज्वार उतरने के पश्चात भक्तगण पैदल चलकर मंदिर में दर्शन करने जाते हैं।
भारी ज्वार के दौरान यह पूरा मंदिर प्रांगण पानी में डूब जाता है। केवल एक स्तंभ और मंदिर की ध्वजा दिखाई देती है। महाभारत काल के इतिहास के अनुसार पांडवों को इसी स्थल पर भगवान शिव ने शिवलिंग के रूप में दर्शन दिए थे.

It is natural. It is a holistic place. It is inside the sea. One has to walk half kilometre from Bank of sea.

The temple is located in the middle of sea. You actually walk on sea bed about half a kilometre to reach temple. You will find lots of sea gulls flying around you near temple.

Since Pathway is muddy and slippery, not recommended for elderly people who have difficulty walking.

Natural wonder

The temple opens up everyday after low tide clears up. It differs on basis of phases of moon. We had gone during a Saturday morning and it had cleared up behind temple making the route available. One needs to walk on the slippery mud tide path carefully and visit the puranic Lingas which is said to be installed by Pandavas when they were roaming around the country with a flag. Scientifically, since it is on a gulf region with land on other side, water level rises up and clears making it a true wonder. The beach water doesn't look clean near the shore and very less facilities which can be improved.

Nishkalank Mahadev is a place where Mahadev's temple is located in the middle of the sea and it is a great place to spend your holiday time and there are all the facilities. The hotel facilities are also great.

It is a religious place. People come here every month on no moon day to worship the Nishkalank Mahadev. It is a pilgrimage place so there are lots of shops and thelas to sell food items as well as other household items. Because of rush of people, the place is very dirty. It had been cleanliness here, it could have been also a beautiful tourist place.

Nice place in Bhavnagar.it's actually 20 km from main city area, to reach there you can hire a auto if you are in group it comes around 100 rs per person (round trip). You can enjoy the high tides and low tides scene of sea and shivling darshan is based on that only. Small small vendors are also there where you can enjoy coconut water, sweetcorn, tea, wafers etc. It's a really beautiful place.

In one day, Temple was in between sea so you can visit only twice (in one day) in duration reflux or tide.
And after 3-4 hour the sea's water coming towards the forward and temple was invisible.

Siva temple in the sea. Awesome experience visiting the temple during low tide early in the morning. Temple disappears in the sea during high tide with sunrise.

Temple is very nice, peaceful and calm. Not much of facilities near the temple but there are small shops. People are very friendly and helpful. The timings of the temple vary everyday and no one is sure of the timings. It is best to visit the temple in the afternoon.

It is beyond ones comprehension that there is a Lord Shiva Temple just under the fierce sea. This temple is still in use, and people visit this place on foot! The temple has 5 distinct swayumbu Shiva lingams inside. This is definitely one of the best spiritual destinations!

The following temple story dates back to Mahabaratha era. Pandavas killed all the Kuravas and won the battle. Pandavas were grief stricken knowing they acquired sins for killing their own relatives. In order to find redemption for their sins, Pandavas met Lord Krishna. To remove the sins, Krishna hands over a black Flag and a Black COW. He asks the Pandavas to follow it, when both Cow and flag turns white, they all will be pardoned. Krishna also advises them to do penance to lord Shiva, after that. The angst stricken brothers followed the cow wherever it went and carried the flag. They walked for days, to different places and the color did not change. Finally, when they arrived at the Koliyak Beach, both cow and the flag color turned to white. Pandavas were exalted. And all the 5 brothers sat for deep penance, meditated on lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva impressed by the brothers showed up in lingam form to each brother. As they meditated, each lingam appeared in front of each brother. In total there were 5 (Swayumbu) lingams that showed up on their own. Pandavas were delighted to see this and they worshiped all the five lingams with great devotion. Lord Shiva here is known as Nishkalan Mahadev. ‘Nishkalank’ has many meaning they are clean, pure, guiltless, to cleanse, to purify, etc. It is said that Pandavas established Nishkalank or Nakalank Mahadev on a Amavasai of the Indian calendar month of Bhadarva. The famous fair popularly known as ‘Bhadarvi’ is held on the no moon night in month of Sharvan (August), as per the Indian calendar. An idol of Lord Shiva was established in an island, over the sea about 3 km to the east of Koliyak. Each lingam has a Nandhi facing it. The lingams are spread across a square Platform. There is a pond called Pandavas pond and devotees’ first wash their hands and legs and only then they visit the Lord Shivas shrines.

It's a unique place itself. Where if u r lucky enough (if there are no tides), you will be able to walk till nishkalank Mahadev Temple in midst of sea around 800 mtr from shore. Structure is not of temple type. There's one tower as seen in pic and behind it, there are 3-4 shivlings and 2-3 lord statues. But behind it, there is huge sea known as gulf of kambhat. Water is muddy so not a good place to bath and Clean sins. But the wind, the atmosphere, the aura is what catches you to here. You will just want to stay here for hours and do nothing. Just visualize the nature, the insects, the beach. Apart from this, there is kuda beach (but not as good as this) and ghogha, but that is not beach, its a बंदर where ro ro ferry service is working but one needs permission to visit it.

Everyone must Visit Nishkalank Mahadev Temple located at koliyak Bhavnagar Gujarat. This is very good temple. Good time for visit between 9 Am Morning to 1: 00 pm noon. I have visited this temple in 10 Aug 2018. This temple in see. When the see is full of water temple is disappear. And see is empty with water then temple is appearing. This is one of very good place fot visite with family. This is nearest to Bhavnagar city. This temple is located center of the sea. You can go in the sea when water goes back then temple will apper.

There are certain things in the world which will not have satisfactory answers. One has to believe them as miracles of God.
This temple consisting of Siva lingas, Nandis and with flag stand holding a saffron flag on a big structure with about 10ft height platform is loated about one to one and half inside the sea from the coast. This is a most miraculous place near Bhavnagar. The sea water fully immerses the temlle platform except the end upto flag, everything, will immerse in the sea waters by evening every day gradually. The sea water recedes in the night fully. Every thing will come out of water. All Hindus believe it as a miracle of God Lord Siva. One can walk into this place. One can also walk beyond temple upto about another Kilometer. This is a thing one should personally lwitness the entire happenings at this place. One should plan to come in the morning and stay upto night to have the entire experience personally by witnessing the gradual happenings in the sea. The people who visits Gujrat state, make a visit to this place located near Bhavnagar. One should take necessarily food items and drinking water along with them for the stay from morning to evening as no hotel supplying food is available.

It's temple of lord Shiva it have no wall or any else the temple is completely disappeare in high tide gode underwater we just able to see temple flag it's near to beach nice and good place too time pass you also able to enjoy beach time in see shore.

If go there in the way you will find little little fishes and crabs and beby carbs there do not fear they will don't harm you

This is very unique shrine. The Shivalingas are about one KM from the shore and completely immersed during high tide. During low tide water recedes and one can walk to this small island to have Dharshan and pray. It is advisable to walk barefoot and follow the path of small canal to avoid slippery. Elderly can also go but advisable to hold hands of some youngster in the family. The shops at the shore sells eatables, tender coconut, corn buttas, potato vada, samosa etc and provide cots made of ropes to sit and relax in a village type environment. Let me also add, we decided to stay overnight in the sea breeze environment and stayed at Saanvi Resort. Less than a thousand per room per night it is a great option instead of rushing back to Bhavnagar or Ahmedabad. Overall MUST visit if you are touring Gujarat.

This place holds a holyness among the hearts of Hindus. A Shiva Temple situated at seashore of Koliyak village in BHAVNAGAR. A very good place to visit in BHAVNAGAR.

A mythological place approx 25 odd kms away from Bhavnagar supposed to be a place where the Pandavas spent time praying during there exile. The temple is located approx 700/800 Mrs from land in the sea. The sand is quite slippery. The same has not been developed by the govt. Sea birds flock thee waiting for pilgrims to feed them. The passage to this is based on the sea water receding based on the thithi (time). The locals are aware of the timings. Suprising to see some bulls roaming around here.

Its a very devine and ancient place.there is a religious importance of this place. I wish to share the time table so that we can go there for blessings (for darshana, we need to go in middle of the sea as temple is situated in middle of the sea).

Asking the govt to construct a bridge to this temple in the middle of the ocean may not work due to funding issue. I feel that the pilgrims who visit this temple could carry a small pebbles not greater than 10 centimeters and deposit it along the 800 meters leading to the temple so that the path to the temple remains open even in high tide. This would ensure that even with global warming and sea level rise this temple will be still accessible. We lost Sethu Samuthira bridge constructed by Rama and his army, why lose this national treasure. Think India.

This is only temple so far I visited under sea water. We have to follow the timings for darsan when the sea water goes backwards and the temple was made by pandavas after win on duryodana.

A beach and a temple in the seawater, should visit the place while low tide, otherwise you will not be able to go to the temple.
