Rann Utsav - The Tent City

Had a great time. The Durbar Rooms were fabulous! Food was plenty and new choices everyday. Book in advance. Purnima dates get sold out as early as July for Nov.

Best festival ever i watched in kutchh and also big and peace full location, best thing is they create a temporary structure which is mind blowing it's look like real and it's look like film city where film's are making, kutchhi shopping center, sunset and sunrise, cycling,

A beautiful place to celebrate enjoy the Rann of Kutch. Entertaining, good food lots of activities, and visit to the Rann in the evening and morning. We went in November which was a little early so the salt was not fully dry but we still enjoyed the white sand and camels. A Unique experience.

What an amazing experience placed in the middle of rann with nowhere to escape.

It turns into a hot heated desert at noon while cold night makes you shiver even with several layers on.

The surreal white salt all over the place is an overwhelming experience, the curated village setup is an absolute delight with the local dance performances, guest welcome and local dishes.

The village craftswomen also sell their handicrafts and cloth work. We bought local honey and some crafts.

There was a club room which is an absolute go to for playing indoors on a hot afternoon. We enjoyed cycling in the mornings and in the evening.

They had also arranged local village tours and sightseeing points.

White heaven on earth ️ when I visit the place it was raining, it felt like I’m not on earth and the silence and vibe I felt there was on different level

White Run is awesome. Visit in Dec to enjoy winters. Sunset is breathtaking and Kesariya. We visited during 31st Night special event it was preplanned long ago. Bandish project was playing DJ which was good what’s was excellent local DJ THEY ARRANGED WAS FAR MORE BETTER.

Amazing place for a family vacation, good hospitality, good food, overall a must visit! Highly recommended!

It is a lifetime experience everyone must have to visit Here once in a lifetime.
I just love this place.

Overall a decent place. Multiple websites don't really tell you the difference between the offerings. Ensure you talk to them and understand what all is covered and what different options are available for stay there.
Food is pretty extensive and they have something for everyone for sure. You will definitely not go hungry.

Was here for two days. Good architecture, good co-ordination among the employees. Nice food, but only vegetarian. Entertainment options of all kinds other than football, volleyball, basketball, etc. Better to have a movie theatre, muceum to show case the kutch culture, Jim, common communication facilities (now it's only available for employees through wireless. All others want use their own mobiles), Wifi, Campfire, Library, etc. Overall nice experience, will be better if have the above additions.

Tourist Can Stay Here Easily As It Has Tourist Resort Also. Loved it ️

Hats off to Gujarat Government Initiative, managed by White Rann Resort, kitchen by The Sayaji Baroda is a really an experience to stay here. About 400 plus tents ranging from Deluxe, Rajwadi to Darbari to choose from prices depending on their premiumness.

With on going activities one can enjoy, stay Music cultural programme visit Ran by Sun Rise, Sunset & souring full moon they do take guest in the night to experience the beauty of Rann that radiates due to Moon Light (which at its peak on Full Moon).

Kala Dunger (the heighest point), Gandhi Nu Gam is also on offer to visit in the program it self.

Check in & Out is brisk.
Tents are Maintained (though musquitos are an issue but house keeping do take care on request).

One must visit & take the experience I do recommend 2 nights as this is far from Bhuj (travel time is what I am referring to here).

Best place to visit. Dnt take photo shot from elephant production bed experience they said you will get edited photo within week still not received my photos almost 1month for my trip

The tent city is very expensive place to stay, even you will find lot of people here. Good place and should have experience atleast once.

Sometimes there is a problem of hot water in tents.
All over very nice place set up by GOV.

The stall people are spitting there only near their stall making the surrounding very much dirty.

Excellent hospitality, right from the pick up point. They are professional and prompt. It's value for money. I wish I got get a day or 2 more to extend.

Tent city is a small township and you feel like a king's guest. Thier hospitality is awesome and food is great. Plus you have plenty of selfie points and one can see gujrati culture.

Extremely overpriced for the services provided. The condition of the tents were quite poor. Things were broken & badly designed, as you can see from the photographs I have posted with this review.

To begin with, about the tents.

1. The mattress provided was not even of the quality of a driver’s dormitory, considering they are charging as much as a 5 star hotel, if not more.
2. Bed sheets were torn at places.
3. Extra bed means one single mattress on the floor, which is ridiculous considering the hefty extra per person charges.
4. The netted curtain doors to the tents were badly torn due to which we couldn’t leave it open for ventilation.
5. The air conditioning is utterly inefficient. Even after calling the technicians on a couple of occasions, it wasn’t satisfactory at all.
6. The bathroom is badly designed. The health faucet is so short that it doesn’t serve any purpose. The shower head is missing. Only hand shower is provided that too it’s without a holder. They have just wrapped it up around the taps. Totally Jugaadu! Moreover, the tiling is so sharp at the entrance of the bathroom that you can easily hurt your feet if you are not wearing a pair of bathroom slippers. The water is the worst I have come across in a long time. It’s smelly, muddy & utterly hard.

The food, though palatable, leaves a lot to be desired. Especially given the overall package costs. The variety is decent. However, it gets difficult to have similar fare for more than a couple of meals. There’s nothing to look forward to for your next meal after a while.

The overall tent city is completely overhyped in my opinion. The evening cultural programme is a big disappointment, with not much interaction with the audience. What my kids were expecting is some Garbha that they would get to participate in as it’s after all Gujarat. However, upon enquiring with the management, we were shocked to hear that there’s only performances by the local artists and no Garbha at all in the two nights we stayed in the tent city. Sheer Disappointment!

The activity area is overhyped too. Given the itinerary of the two nights package, you will not get any time whatsoever to do anything in the activity area. It remains shut in the afternoon, from around 12 noon to 4 p.m. Due to the extreme heat. The staff goes off for a nap during this time and there’s nobody to cater to the guests. So, basically it’s open from around 10 a.m. To 12 noon and then from 4 p.m. Till sunset. Given the fact that on the first day, as per the itinerary, you will be visiting the Rann at around 3.30 p.m. And be back after sunset, there won’t be any time to spare at the activity area. Whereas on the second day, you will be leaving for Kala Dungar at 2.30 p.m. And be back by 8 p.m, again leaving no time for any activities inside the tent city. At the most you can try to squeeze some time out after breakfast, though it’s going to be very hot in the activity area at that time.

About the costs of the different activities on offer, it’s super expensive and really not worth it. Just to give you an example, a very dull electric quad bike ride of 500 metres (less than 5 mins) will cost you ₹ 500 per person here. Whereas, at the Mandvi Beach, a totally fun filled ride of around 2 kms (around 15 mins) quad bike ride on the beach would cost you ₹ 100 per person. You can imagine the costs of the rest of the activities then.

The funniest thing I found at the tent city was that though hiring a cycle was for free from the cycle stand near the reception area, you have to return it in 20 mins. To see the entire tent city while cycling at a leisurely pace, you need at least an hour. So, basically you go back to the cycle stand every 20 mins and get the cycle changed.

To conclude my review, I will surely never come back to the Tent City again. I would choose to stay at the White Rann Resort if and when I come back next. The White Rann Resort is firstly very close to the actual White Rann and costs half as much as The Tent City.

Speechless about this place, just amazing the way it is managed, the way they handle all their guests, amazing.

This is a place you regret both ways - if you stay you will regret for money charged vs facilities & staff willingness to help you.if you don't you will miss serene environment in white Rann. On tent city - no facility for cold water (needed in feb), long check-in/out time, baggage transfer almost cost us our flight, cold attitude of staff to help you, food is good but lacks variety, no concrete info on activities and cultural program. Tents are comfortable. On rann of kutch - nice place to visit at least once, very serene during sunrise and sunsets, night visit can be missed without a pain.

It's one of the best places to visit from November to January. Amazing Location, awesome facilities and Finger Licking good food. The tents are a bit small if you stay 3 in a tent. Otherwise its amazing. Must Visit!

A tent city surrounded by White rann, a great natural wonder, a must visit place. Excellent food and service.

Rann utsav tent city is wonderful place to stay at rann and exploring the beauty of desert. Tent city is neat and clean place and also amazing place to hanging out there.
Food and other hospitalities provide by them are up to the mark.

Worth a visit at least once in your lifetime if not more times. Amazing "White Desert "

It looks different in different time. In day it looks brownish. In evening it looks whitish. Best time is sunset. May be full moon. Didn't get opportunity to go during full moon.

Saying "Kutch nahi dekha to kuch nahi dekha" goes very true for this place. Must visit place. Best time to visit is Nov to Feb where you can witness rann festival.

Excellent site to visit, one of from my wish list, good village created on desert every year. Takes care of guests very professional manner. Two days/night plan will be very good for this place. Witness sunset from Rann, sunrise from tower in white rann. Spend good time in premises with many photo points. Evening program two items are lovely & unique. Good food & ambiance. However following things must improve
1. In non AC tents should provide joint beds for couples, this option is must,
2. Width of cot & quality of mitraisses should improve
3. Buses to be equipped with sound system - mic & speakers
4. Those who arrive to Bhuj station after 1st bus left & next bus is at 2 pm should be provided food packages at Reception on station as lunch is part of package

One of the best places to visit in the winter season, with the chill of white rann you will enjoy the authentic tent and Gujarati cuisine and different cultural program. You will find local ethnic wears, ethnics to buy at reasonable prices as well. And the full moon night in the rann is terrific.

A place you should visit. I spent 3 nights and found it very less. Its worthy staying there though it's on a high cost side.you need at least a week to stay and enjoy the sightseeing.

A must visit place.a different experience.white desert, tent city and beautiful single road leading to this destination, gives a wonderful experience

This is a brilliant experience that one must not miss. The natural beauty of the place, the extremely rich culture that you will experience including not just kutchi but even siddi people (east African Bantu people, lost African tribe) settled around there will give you a lot of thought and diversity to learn and absorb.

They will take you around to nearby cultural places and viewpoints that are worth exploring. Your stay here is going to be hectic yet relaxing. The food is awesome and local. The accommodation is fantastic. The activities and events organized are awesome.
