I loved to visit this Ashram since it is the holy place on the banks of the river Sabarmathi where MAHATMA GANDHI JI lived and breathed peacefully for some years, together with his better-half KASTURIBHAI JI, where I can pay MY RESPECTS AND TRIBUTES to them as a true Indian Citizen.

Gandhi Ashram, a symbol of true non-violence, after visiting there you get natural peace and strength, you should visit once, there is some power there.

Great hospitality.
Feels like home the staffs are so humble and down to earth they take keen care of all the patients. Hygiene is almost priority.

Calm and holy place. One can find peace here. On the banks of river sabarmati it's beautiful to visit. Very nicely maintained. Just need someone to guide the visitors.

The place is well maintained, four wheeler parking is limited and so people usually park their vehicles on the side of the road. You get to see the Sabarmati river and the place where Gandhiji lived.

The ashram is well maintained and very clean. There are so many Arte facts that symbolizes so many important events in the Indian freedom struggle. The galleries are amazing and so informative. Me and my friends visited the ashram for our project and we were amazed to find so detailed information. I especially liked the timelines, they just take you back in time. Anyone who wants to know about our proud history and Gandhi's amazing and simple life should visit the ashram. The river gives a nice and calming view as well.

Poignant place. Very well maintained and peaceful. Details of Gandhiji is well presented. Not much parking available for 4 wheelers though. Better visit in the morning to avoid crowds. Opens at 10 AM

It's located on the banks of Sabarmati river and hosts a wide variety of content on Gandhi ji's life.

This is such a beautiful place and visiting here is a meditative experience in itself. I wish I could have spent more time in the Ashram.

Must visit place. The original Mahatma Gandhi and kasturba Gandhi's house named Hriday kunj. Very well maintained. They going to repair old buildings. May be due to age of buildings and atmospheric effect. But they must confirm the renovation of buildings must not change the originality of buildings and premises. Or if possible try to visit as soon as possible means before renovation.

The man and the idea behind this places speaks for themselves. So there is nothing to say on that matter. However, I wish there could be more indications on things and / or some ways for people to feel more in unity with the great ideas. The rooms in each house is completely empty. That does not help to feel this.

I visited with my son in the month of feb. Very calm place located on the bank of the sabarmati River. Very well maintained galary, which gives you the insight of Babu's life from his childhood till his last breath. You will get a chance to see various letters written by Bapu to others diginiteris and freedom fighters.

Exploring Ahmedabad. The peaceful Sabarmati Aashram on the banks of river Sabarmati. Where it all started.
Just 15 kms from station. There is no entry fees. Well maintained and well documented.

The place has a lot of information but it's presented very poorly. Its just long display of written notes. I doubt anyone reads it all. They could have made it more interactive and interesting for kids too.
The entire ashram didn't have any functional drinking water facility.

It's a good place to visit, it's a historical Context of Mahatma Gandhi.

Really, you can collect good memories.

Visiting here for the second time. All around we could feel the positive wibe. Art galary of freedom fighters and their struggle to get the freedom is picturised very clearly. I’m sure one who visits here, will get more patriotic feeling and feel blessed to born in india.

It is a place dedicated to Gandhi ji. It has great collection of photos of his activities, his connections and his projects. Many international personas visited this ashram. River front on the one side of Ashram makes it both education and entertainment. One comes to know about many facets of Gandhi ji. Govt has sanctioned a huge amount for its development.

Well maintained Ashram. Very clean and good. The museum is also very informative. Mahatma Gandhi's life and the sacrifices he made for freedom are a all deceived here. Takes about 35 to to minutes. Some parking is also available

Very nice and peaceful place of Ahmedabad. This is the karmabhumi of Mahatma Gandhi. They stayed here almost 13 years. They started Dandi March from here. Very very peaceful and serene place. Lots of birds and squirrels you will find here. One of the finest place to get peace in Ahmedabad. Must visit place for everyone

Visited the Gandhi Ashram on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Serene and Peaceful place. Worth visiting atleast once in this Lifetime.

Visitors can buy many Books and also traditionally weaved Khadi clothes from the Ashram.

Government is planning to renovate the entire Ashram site. Hope the Sanctity of the place is maintained intact.

This is a part of history and the birthplace of Indian Freedom Movement. Established by Mahatma Gandhi, this ashram played an important role in his stay, activities and forming the true thought for the countries betterment. The place holds the relics of the Mahatma and the history of his journey. A must visit for all. I found it excitement well maintained and clean. The present pandemic regulations are also strictly followed.

The Sabarmati ashram is sited between a prison and a crematorium, and Gandhi believed that a satyagrahi has invariably to go to either place.  Mohandas Gandhi said, "This is the right place for our activities to carry on the search for truth and develop fearlessness, for on one side are the iron bolts of the foreigners, and on the other the thunderbolts of Mother Nature. "

It was a great opportunity to Visit Gandhi Asharam and had a great experience! I wonder how Gandhi ji has done so many things in such a short life. You will find everything about his life after returning from Africa. Well maintained and very well kept the things related to Gandhi ji. Superb location on bank of Sabarmati revert front.

साबरमती आश्रम का इतिहास: -
जब महात्मा गांधीजी अफ्रीका से भारत वापस आ गए तो उन्होंने भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस ज्वाइन की और वे अपनी पत्नी के साथ गुजरात में रहना चाहते थे, जिसके लिए उन्होंने अपने मित्र जीवनलाल देसाई के कहने पर उनके कोचरब बंगला में 25 मई 1915 सत्याग्रह आश्रम का निर्माण करवाया। गांधी अपनी पत्नी और करीबियों के साथ यहां रहने लगे। रहने के हिसाब से अच्छा तो था लेकिन यहां खेतवाड़ी, पशु पालन, गैशाला, ग्रामोउद्योग का निर्माण जैसी गतिविधियां करना संभव नहीं था।

हृदय कुंज- ️
इस आश्रम का मुख्य स्थान हृदय कुंज हैं जहां गांधी जी अपना समय बिताया करते थे। यहां गांधी जी की प्रयोग की जाने वस्तुओं को आज भी सहेज कर रखा गया है।
मगन निवास- साबरमती आश्रम की देखभाल करने वाले मगनलाल गांधी का यह निवास स्थान था जो बापू के कजिन थे।

विनोबा कुटीर/मीरा कुटीर- ‍
आचार्य विनोबा भावे गांधीजी के राष्ट्रीय शिक्षक और आध्यात्मिक उत्तराधिकारी कहलाते हैं। वे इसी स्थान पर बैठकर गांधीजी के साथ चर्चा किया करते थे। इस कुटीर को मीरा कुटीर इसलिए कहा जाता है क्योंकि गांधी से प्रभावित एक ब्रिटिश महिला मीराबेन ने इसी स्थान पर अपना समय बिताया था।

नंदिनी-
यह आश्रम का वह स्थान है जहां पर अतिथियों को रुकवाया जाता था। इसे गेस्ट हाउस कहा जा सकता है।

उपासना मंदिर-
आश्रम में प्रर्थना के लिए गांधीजी ने मुख्य रूप से मगन निवास एवं हृदय कुंज के बीच खुले आसमान के नीचे उपासना मंदिर नाम का स्थान बनवाया था। यहीं प्रार्थना के बाद गांधी जी बैठकर उपदेश भी दिया करते थे।

A very great experience i had. Went back there 3 to 4 years ago. A very peaceful and quiet place. If someone wants to run from crowd and dont know where to go then I recommend them to visit this Sabarmati Ashram. Also you can gain more knowledge about Gandhiji. Kid friendly place. আহমেদাবাদে রাত কাটিয়ে উঠেই ওলা বুক করলাম একটি। প্রথমে গেলাম সবর্মতী নদীর ধারে। সূর্যোদয় দেখলাম। গুজরাটে সূর্য দেরিতে ওঠে, সবাই জানেন বৈকি। বেশিক্ষণ সেখানে সময় নষ্ট না করে এগোলাম সবর্মতী আশ্রমের উদ্দেশ্যে। আশ্রম অস্বাভাবিক ভাবে ফাঁকা ছিল, টিকিটের ব্যবস্থা আছে কিনা, সেটাও বুঝিনি। সোজা ঢুকে পরলাম। গান্ধীজি এই আশ্রমে বিভিন্ন সময়ে বিভিন্ন ঘরে থেকেছেন। সবথেকে তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ হলো, তার শেষ আশ্রয়। সেখানেই তার ব্যবহৃত যাবতীয় সামগ্রী রয়েছে, রয়েছে তার বিখ্যাত চরকিটাও। অসম্ভব পরিষ্কার এই পরিবেশ সকালের মৃদু আলো এবং পাখির অনবরত কলকাকলিতে এক স্নিগ্ধতা বজায় রেখে চলেছে। বোধ করি আজও গেলে পাবেন। ধ্রুবসত্য এই উপলব্ধি। আশ্রমের ভেতরে একটি মিউজিয়াম আছে, গান্ধীজীর, মোহনদাস করমচাঁদ থেকে গান্ধীজি হয়ে ওঠার ধাপগুলো সুবিস্তারে চিত্রসহ বর্ণনা করা আছে। পুরোটা ঘুরে বেরোতে ঘন্টাখানেক লেগে গেল। গাড়ির চালককে জিজ্ঞেস করে আমেদাবাদ বিরিয়ানির (আগের পোষ্টে পাবেন) থেকে প্রাপ্ত শিক্ষাকে অবলম্বন করে স্থানীয় দোকান থেকে গুজরাটি ভাজাভুজি খেয়ে প্রাতরাশ সারলাম। ধোকলার স্বাদ অতুলনীয়। এবারে চললাম আদালাজ। আদলাজ একটি প্রাচীন কুয়ো। কোন আমলে আমি সঠিক বলতে পারব না। চোল রাজত্বের স্থাপত্য বলেই শুনেছিলাম মনে পড়ে। আদালাজের অবশ্য টিকিট সিস্টেম ছিল, মাথাপিছু ভারতীয়দের জন্যে ৩০ টাকা বরাদ্দ ছিল। জায়গাটির তিনটে ছবি এখানে আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরলাম, বোধ করি শিল্পকলা নিয়ে বিশেষ সন্দেহ থাকবে না। গভীর কুয়োটি উপর থেকে ঘেরা, অগুনতি পায়রার বাস এই আদালাজে। বেশ কিছু ছবি তুলে, অন্য মানুষের ছবি তুলে দিয়ে বেরোলাম থল স্যাংচুয়ারির দিকে। শহর থেকে বেশ কিছুটা দূরে এই থল।এই স্যাংচুয়ারিতে প্রচুর পাখি দেখা যায়। কিন্তু আমার বিশেষ সৌভাগ্য হয় নি, গুটিকতক মাছরাঙা, বাবুই আর নাম না জানা কিছু ছোট ছোট পাখি ছাড়া আর কিছুই চোখে পরে নি। সূর্যের পশ্চিমে ঢলে পরার সময় এগোলে, আমিও থল থেকে রওনা দিই আবার আমেদাবাদ শহরের উদ্দেশ্যে। এবার গন্তব্য জামা মসজিদ। পথে ম্যাপ গুলিয়ে উনি আমাকে ভুলবশত এমন জায়গায় নিয়ে যান, যেখানে গিয়ে আমি আচমকাই হরিণের দেখা পাই!
সন্ধ্যার আজানের শব্দে মানুষের মসজিদে দৌড়ে নামাজ পড়তে যাওয়া দেখতে দেখতে দিনান্তের ঘণ্টা বাজে। আমিও হোটেল ফিরে সেই রাত্রে ভুজ যাওয়ার বাসে উঠবো বলে ব্যাগ গোছানো শুরু করি।

পরের দিন ভুজ থেকে কিছু ছবি আর বিবরণী নিয়ে আসছি। নমষ্কার।

Sabarmati Ashram (also known as Gandhi Ashram) is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, adjoining the Ashram Road, on the banks of the River Sabarmati, 4.0 miles from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi who lived at Sabarmati (Gujarat) and Sevagram (Wardha, Maharashtra) when he was not travelling across India or in prison. [1] He lived in Sabarmati or Wardha for a total of twelve years with his wife Kasturba Gandhi and followers, including Vinoba Bhave. The Bhagavad Gita was recited here daily as part of the Ashram schedule.
It was from here that Gandhi led the Dandi march also known as the Salt Satyagraha on 12 March 1930. In recognition of the significant influence that this march had on the Indian independence movement, the Indian government has established the ashram as a national monument.

Sabarmati ashram is a iconic place to know interesting fact about Mahatma Gandhi. The ashram originally been located in Hridaya Kunj, Gandhi's own cottage in the ashram. There is a Library consisting of nearly 35,000 books dealing with Gandhi's life, work, teachings, Indian freedom movement and allied subjects, and a Reading Room with more than 80 periodicals in English,  Gujarati and Hindi. Also the beautiful gallery "My life is my message" consisting of 8 life-size paintings and more than 250 photo available. Guys one of the best place in Ahmedabad.

Sabarmati Ashram is also known as Gandhi Ashram. It was Gandhiji's Karmabhumi. He lived here from 1915 to till he left for Dandi March in 1930. It is the place where transformation of Mohandas Gandhi to Mahatma took place.

Very enriching experience to visit the ashram. Got to learn a lot about Gandhiji's life and India's freedom movement. The museum was very well organized. The book shop also had books about great personalities.

If you are visiting Ahmedabad you should visit here there is no cost for entry and amts and brts direct connectivity is also there.

Sabarmati Ashram, formerly known as 'Satyagraha Ashram", situated in Ahmedabad at the Kocharab Bungalow of Jivanlal Desai, a barrister.
Later on it was shifted to the banks of Sabarmati river and then it came to be known as 'Sabarmati Ashram'.
Gandhi stayed at the Ashram from 1915 to 1933 later on the Ashram was disbanded.
The Ashram is a witness to many important historical events.
In there means amazing felling and a life time attachment also for every indians.
While at Sabarmati, Gandhiji lived in a small cottage which is now known as 'Hridaya (Heart) Kunj'.
It is a place of great historic value, where even today visitors find some of the things which Gandhiji used- a writing desk, a khadi kurta, a yarn spun by him and some of his letters.
It is on the right hand side of 'Hridaya Kunj'. It is an old Ashram guest house, where guests from India and abroad are put up.
Named after Acharya Vinoba Bhave who stayed here, and also known as Mira Kutir after Mirabahen, Gandhiji's disciple, daughter of a British Admiral.
It is an open-air prayer ground, situated between 'Hridaya Kunj' and 'Magan Kutir'
An important feature of the Ashram is Gandhi Sangrahalaya, a museum inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru on May10,1963.

We were able to see & experience our father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi's struggle in the freedom movement by visiting his Ashram on the banks of river Narmada. A long cherished desire fulfilled.

Very efficiently captured the life events of Mahatma Gandhi in a attractive visuals. Rare photographs and context of photos were given in detail. Very natural place and located near the sabermati river front. I found very interesting letters written by Gandi to the various leaders of that time. You can also find the articles of Gandi written for news papers. Raw natural feeling of ashram has been maintained.

Everything from Mr. Gandhi's life has been systematically documented there as he progressed from his formal education to his stint in South Africa to his freedom movement of the country. The ashram is basically what used to be Mr.and Mrs. Gandhi's living quarters and one can even find the utensils used by them.

There is a souvenir section where one can get khadi clothes and other products that have been locally manufactured.

We're world order was changed and ahimsa introduced to the world as a strong weapon. Peaceful, tranquil and green surrounding right in Sabarmati river front. Neatly maintained and calm. No fee.

The place is very simple and very progressive. Sir Charles Correa, the architect thought of MK Gandhi and made this place accordingly. The windows are very big and the beams and columns looks like floating. The Sabarmati River embraces the building from the front. One can find peace here, just like the character of the building. Very good atmosphere around

It was really nice experience to visit Sabarmati Aashram. Things are nicely kept and well maintained. Entry is free. I especially liked the b/w video that was played in a small room. Add to it the surrounding, where it was being played, everything was nostalgic. Looking at the old photographs, it was not difficult to imagine how the events unfolded in those days. It was amazing to see the people who were there in the photographs. Kitchen was nice.

The over all experience was very good.

Around 15 years Gandhi bapulived hear. You fill heaven there because of environment creats there by presence of Gandhi's thought and idea.

Bapu's home is very beautiful. Bapu's nephew Magan lal and Vinoba bhave's home is also fill you happy.

Aashram is well maintained by people and organization.

Beautiful Ashram, Clean and Maintained with a lot of history and various intriguing facts. Also a small and sweet souvenir shop with antiques for collection.

Such a wonderful place to be, one can really feel him there once you read about his entire life.
Place is well kept, there is no canteen inside in case anyone is looking for one, toilets are maintained well.

There is a hotel Toran nearby for eating.

From childhood, we know about our father of nation i.e Gandhi ji. Till date no Gandhi is reborn. If you are in Ahemdabad then it is must watch place. If you are a Indian then it is must watch place. If you admire or follower of peace or Gandhi ji then this is a place for you. On just entering the pious Ashram, one can feel a spiritual energy. As you move inside the Ashram, alots of question related with Mr Gandhi, his life and about India's freedom comes in mind. This was the place where Mr Gandhi lived and made strategies for freedom of India. On each place and object inside Ashram one can feel the simplicity of great Gandhi. You can feel the greatness of the man who lived here. One can feel Gandhi every where in the Ashram i.e in sand, in his house, in river, in flower, in temple etc. He was not just leader of India but actually he was leader of world. I suggest you to hire a certified guide to visit the Ashram. We have already seen open space in front of his home in many movies and documentary. But when you come here, just sit here i.e in fornt of Gandhi's home besides the bank of Sabarmati. I am sure, one can feel calm and pious. Come here for at least 5 to 6 hours to know/understand/feel the man of peace. A very good collection of Gandhi's life instances are here in galaries which are must to see with time and patience.

It was a freedom fighter palace no need to discuss.
He did not speak much.his actions were the tools to enhance the quality and most importantly put forward the freedom struggle.

Really calm n serene place. Can spend nearly 2 hours over there. One can just feel the peace n presence of the gr8 soul of bapu over there. Will love to visit it again.

This was the place where Gandhi ji used to live with his wife. This place is situated on the bank of river sabarmati. All the activities of independence and upliftment of society are driven by gandhiji from this place. He left this place when he started dandhi march for salt and he decided that he will not return to ashram until India gets independence.
Now this place is open for visitors and there is a museum and books and scripts are also available here related to life of gandhi ji. It is a very quiet place.

A peaceful and clam place. Maintained well by the government. The history of India is preserved and demonstrated well in the ashram. Ashram is surrounded by green trees and birds which enhances the beauty of surrounding atmosphere.

It is one of the well known place in Ahmedabad. Undoubtedly most peaceful place. I visited here during morning hours and felt very energetic and the ambience seems to be pleasant. This is the ashram where Gandhi ji use to live during freedom moment. It is located on the banks of Sabarmati river which is very well maintained by Gujarat government. I clicked quite good number of pictures over here as it has museum inside the ashram where you will get to know the in depth coverage of freedom movement of Gandhi ji and his contribution towards the freedom moment of india. Museum is updated periodically with the pictures of international guest and leaders who visited this place. Things to take while you visit this place.
1. Set aside 3 to 4 hours for your visit.

7. No slippers or shoes allowed in ashram.
