About 460 years ago this area where now stands SHREE JAGANNATHJI MANDIR CAMPUS, was a thick forest beside the river SABARMATI in the East and the city limit ended at the Jamalpur Darwaja in the North.

Sadhus normally seek places of solitude beside rivers away from the noise of cities. Thus an itinerant sadhu Shree HANUMANDASJI by name happened to visit Ahmedabad and found this jungle area suitable for his stay. Being a devotee of RAMBHAKT MARUTI, he laid his deity’s idol, which is worshiped till this day. During his stay some miraculous happening altracted people from the neighbouring areas, which has become the root cause to developed this place into a modest temple.

Jagannath Temple is the holy temple of Niastha people of Ahmedabad. Every year on the day of Ashadi Bija, Lord Jagannath along with his brother Baladev ji and sister Subhadra ji arrives in the city to give darshan to his beloved devotees.

अहमदाबाद का ऐतिहासिक और पवित्र, प्रसिद्ध जगन्नाथ मंदिर, जो 1858 से हर साल रथ यात्रा करता है। जमालपुर दरवाजे के पास स्थित, यह मंदिर सप्ताह के दिनों में बहुत ही शांतिपूर्ण और मनमोहक है। मुझे यहाँ से मालपुआ और गाठिया प्रसाद बहुत पसंद हैं - मैं निश्चित रूप से कह सकता हूँ कि वे सबसे अच्छे मालपुआ हैं जिन्हें मैंने कहीं भी खाया है। कृष्ण सुभद्रा और बलराम की मूर्तियां राजसी हैं और लकड़ी में खूबसूरती से उकेरी गई हैं। हर रोज श्रृंगार खूबसूरती से किया जाता है। मंदिर के अंदर और बाहर बहुत सारी पार्किंग की जगह उपलब्ध है, और बच्चे भी परिसर में खेलने का एक अच्छा समय है।

A must place to visit in Ahmedabad. Very neat and clean place. If you want to enjoy the fresh and real cow buttermilk, you should visit this Holy Temple in the 1st half.

Today I am visited shri Jaganathji mandir, peaceful, clean and feel positive vibration here, take prasad of malpuva and gathiya very tasty and delicious also I eat bhandara prasad in my life one of the best delicious bhojan eat sevkhir, malpuva, alu sabji, chana sabji, rice kadhi, puri, bhajiya.such a very nice place.

Very peaceful and holy place of Ahmedabad. One of my favourite temple of Lord Jaggnath, Mata Subhadra and Brother Balbhadra. Very serene place. You will find lots of cows and elephants here. Prasad also here is very delicious.
