Up we went driving amidst a mountain surrounded with trees, stones and a waterfall cascading where lies a temple of Lord Shiva. This is the place so says the temple priest is where Arjuna received his Brahmastra from the almighty. Lovely, quiet small temple and not to miss the water gushing below where lies a big rock painted (must be by an ardent devotee) with a Shiva form and beneath it is a shivalingam. You need to crawl below to pay your obeisance. A place where one can forget the world and just enjoy the simple beauty of nature. Do visit when in the surroundings of Dharamshala.
Mahadev Aarti…. Powerful and connects you to Shiva. Should be on must do list Aarti starts 7pm Zones you out completely. Reach by 6pm and enjoy the location too.
Very old temple with scenic stream flowing from backside of this temple. It is very historical as temple land was donated by maharaja Ranjit Singh ji. Temple is dedicated to Shiva and shaiv parampara.
Beautiful temple. Must visit. It is not so popular among outsiders but when you reach there it's mesmerizing. I went there twice in my 3 days trip to Dharamshala. It is located at a very beautiful spot. Temple itself is in a open area where can feel the dew on your face. The river is flowing downside the temple. Must go for all mahadev lovers.
When ever you go Dharamshala must visit this Aghanjar Shiv Temple. The history as per mention in the temple. Arjun got Dhunsh From Lord Shiva before the battle of Mahabharat. As well as in the bottom of that place a waterfall where you can enjoy with family.
We visited this place. It is a very old temple with a fire burning since last more than 600 years continuosly. There is a cold water stream running besides it and one can have a holy dip and a nice time.
We visited the Aghanjar Mahadev Temple on our Dharamshala trip in April 2018. Set inside a hill forest it is a beautiful, serene and peaceful place where you can just relax and spend some quality time with nature.
Do not forget to visit the stream at the back of the temple. It is sheer delight and one can sit there for hours altogether. And if you want you can take a dip too although the water can be ice cold.
It is not very far from Dharamshala and the road to this temple is equally beautiful. A must visit place if you are going to Dharamshala.
Beautiful and peaceful place. One can enjoy taking a bath in the water stream running along side the temple. There is a wooden plank burning from past 600 years. There are many small temples within the premises of the main temple. Parking facility available.
Beautiful temple of Lord Shiva set in a a corner. The route to this temple is scenic and the views from the temple is another nature's beauty. Its set in the middle of nature. When you walk down the stairs from the temple towards the stream - it's another experience. Crystal clear cold water flowing form the ranges. An experience worth taking.
This Sacred temple sitauted in Khanyara is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is held in great reverence by the locals. This is the place so says the temple priest is where Arjuna received his Brahmastra from the almighty. Lovely, quiet small temple and not to miss the water gushing below where lies a big rock painted (must be by an ardent devotee) with a Shiva form and beneath it is a shivalingam. Located in Dharmashala, it is a holy shrine of Lord Shiva. Just behind the temple is a lovely waterfall and a rivulet, it is very refreshing and enjoyable site. Although there quite a few uncomfortable steps to reach there. The water is crystal clear and cold, but still the floor is slippery at places. You need to crawl below to pay your obeisance. A place where one can forget the world and just enjoy the simple beauty of nature. Do visit when in the surroundings of Dharamshala, so take care.
This is a temple of Lord Shiva. This is situated near 5 km from DHARAMSHALA city centre. After visiting norbulingka monestry you may visit this. No ticket is required. A mesmerizing mini waterfall is also here (behind the temple). The view of this waterfall is very amazing. Must watch.
Amazing temple near Dharamshala. Beautiful views of mountains and long trees and also has a river flowing behind this temple where you can spend a few minutes.
Unlike most of the temples of Himachal, this place is nice, calm and quiet. There is the park where children can play and many places inside the temple where you can sit and meditate.
1. This place is very clean and perhaps the best place to sit and chat with friends as well. This place is not-so-popular among tourists, so it will be very quiet and peaceful for the people who want to spend quality time alone, with friends or with families.
2. The best thing about this place is, they do not kill innocent animals here in name of god. As far as I know, no such sick, cruel and barbaric activities are done here.
3. The way to this place is well established road. Usually, there are many trucks parked here. There are also monkeys, wild chickens, cows and dogs. In the place there are many dogs, but all are so quiet.
Overall, it is a nice place. I would recommend this temple than any other temple of that area.
In my more than a year of stay at Dharamshala, I went here almost every weekend. This place is one of the most amazing temples around here. There's a stream with the cleanest water. Just sit by it and you'll feel at peace with yourself. I felt amazing every time I went here.
It's just a regular temple with no frills or fancies. Good thing is the commercialisation hasn't hit it till now. Bad thing is, it's got nothing exceptional to boast about. Whether you visit this one or not, it won't make a difference, unless you are a religious person.
This temple is dedicated to lord shiva. U feel content n full after visiting the place. Amazing place yo visit. I like to venture out on weekend's yo this place.
One of the most beautiful temples to surely put in ur list. It has a small waterfall that's so refreshing getting into that freezing cold flowing water. Very old temple, u would surely feel peaceful being there.
This temple is situated in the middle of green hills of Dharamsala in district Kangra of Himachal. This temple of Lord Shiva is at a very peaceful place. By coming here, you can enjoy nature along with the blessings of Lord Shiva. The main attraction of this temple is the Shivling established under a very big rock, and the river flowing together makes the beauty of the temple even more beautiful.
The Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that once upon a time when Arjuna, one of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, was on his way to the Kailash Mountains, Lord Shiva appeared at this spot and blessed him with the boon of victory over the Kauravas. There are several idols of Lord Shiva and a Lord Hanuman statue.
At a distance of 9 km from Dharamshala and 16 km from McLeod Ganj, Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is situated in the Khaniyara village at the foothills of Dhauladhar. This temple is believed to be five hundred years old.

Full over view in photos About Aghanjar Mahadev Temple It is believed that Lord Shiva granted Arjun the boon of victory before the Mahabharata war. The temple commemorates and celebrates this boon and is of much religious importance. There is a beautiful stream in the vicinity that one can visit as well. Review on Aghanjar Mahadev, Dharamshala. This place is purely divine and full of positivity. This is the place where Lord Shiva gave his gandiv dhanush to veer arjuna and there is a cave style temple name gupteshvar mahadev.
This is going to be a very genuine review. I visited on dated 19-01-2020. Location: 5 stars, situated at very peaceful place. Temple diversity: 10 stars out of 5: Temple of Lord Shiva, a Hindu diety. Construction work & Renovation work is going in surroundings of temple. In coming 3-4 months, beauty is going to increase more.
1 Star for an old person there in temple, this guy ask you for more chadava in temple, he is not a priest in temple, but some how associated with this place. Please beware of this old man. Rest no worries.
Amazing view, Chilly Water Stream! Don't forget your cameras and towels, if you love to get a taste of Himalayan water stream alongside creating memories. A temple nearby with a water stream typical Himachali flavour of tourism. Perfect 45-60 minutes spent, here.
Ancient temple of Lord Shiva with beautiful surrounding and water stream. Surprise to meet some Sr citizen visitors from Belgam Karnataka. A must visit to this place when you are in Dharamshala.

Its a historical temple and the best is its in the footsteps of himalaya. Everyday they conduct Aarti at 19: 45 hrs.u can find good momos near mandir, prasad shop and tea shop too. The place is surrounded with green and beauty. I saw some of the rare species of birds. Next to mandir we have ice cold water river coming from himalayas melted water which is really cold and clean too.
Vry beautiful temple.its so neat and clean. Nd can't forget river behind the temple where one can enjoy sound of water nd can capture photos with beauty of mountains

This is a place where Arjun meditated and received Gandiv from Lord Shiva as a boon. We went to this temple primarily for the historic and mythological value. It is just 3 kms away from Norbulingka institute at the foothills of Dhauladhar ranges. Temple complex is clean and maintained
