It is said that there is a treasure hidden underwater which belongs to the Mahabharata period and is visible but can not be touched. The temple of the KamruNag deity is also established near the KamruNag lake. If we believe in ancient beliefs, this treasure is protected by the Nagraj of the temple. A fair is organized every year in this temple of nagas in the month of juneduring which ritualistic serpents are also worshipped. According to local people, no one is able to take the treasure from KamruNag lake. Though there were many hypothesis to explain the origin, according to old beliefs once a British man tried to extract gold from this lake but he failed and became very ill. Another belief is that a snake-like tree surrounds this mountain and If someone puts his hand in the treasures of this lake, locals say that these trees are snake deities and come in their true form.
The best time to visit KamruNag Temple is during any day of the year but the apt time for witnessing the divine aura is in the month of June. A three-day fair is organized and numerous pilgrims visit the site to seek the blessings of Lord Kamrunag.

Ok ok ok, so all my dear friends who simply thinks that this temple is just for trek then you are actually damn wrong, Just have second thoughts how people used to to visit this place when there was no roads and transportations and all of above why they used to visit this place? I must advice to all those who simply wash their faces and get ready for trek as this place this very spiritual and specifically deity of locals live there who has great background in Mahabharata. Yes, indeed this place is very unique and great history in Hindu Culture. I request all to visit this place keeping some ethics like not to drink and throw wines, liquor bottles around the path for the temple, all plastics things like wrapper and other things made up of same should be carried back. Don't ruin this place with your incapable mind. And wherever you go just think how you keep your home neat and Clean so same should be treated everywhere. Thank you for the support

I was there on 16 June 2016. What an experience it was. Very peaceful place you can find inner peace here.
The trek is good but it was difficult during monsoon season. The beauty and inner peace of this place attracts thousands of devotees during the saawan.

Visiting the temple, I couldn't help but feel the strong connection to the ancient tales and legends that surround it. The temple itself is beautifully crafted and exudes a sense of spirituality and serenity.
In addition to its architectural beauty, the natural surroundings of the temple are equally impressive. The temple is located near a stunning lake and surrounded by majestic mountains and tree's that add to the already serene atmosphere of the temple.
However, it is important to note that the temple is closed during the winter months from November to January Feb due to heavy snowfall. So, if you plan to visit, make sure to check the opening hours and plan your visit accordingly.

हिमाचल प्रदेश देवभूमि है, यहां के देव स्थानों के दर्शनों की अभिलाषा रखने वाला हर शख्स कमरुनाग जरूर जाना चाहता है। यह महाभारतकालीन स्थल के रूप में विख्यात है। कमरुनाग झील हिमाचल प्रदेश की प्रसिद्ध झीलों में से एक है। यह झील मंडी घाटी की तीसरी प्रमुख झील है।यहां पर कमरुनाग देवता का प्राचीन मंदिर भी है।
जहां जून माह में विशाल मेले का आयोजन होता है। हिमाचल प्रदेश के मंडी नगर से 51 किलोमीटर दूर करसोग घाटी में स्थित कमरुनाग झील समुद्र के तल से लगभग नौ हजार फुट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। देवदार के घने जंगलों से घिरी यह झील प्रकृति प्रेमियों को अभिभूत कर देती है। झील तक पहुंचने का रास्ता भी बहुत सुरम्य है और यहां के लुभावने दृश्यों को देखकर पर्यटक अपनी सारी थकान भूल जाता है, कमरुनाग झील के किनारे पहाड़ी शैली में निर्मित कमरुनाग देवता का प्राचीन मंदिर भी हैं।

स्थानीय लोग कहते हैं कि झील में अरबों के जेवर हैं। झील में अरबों की दौलत होने के बावजूद सुरक्षा का कोई खास प्रबंध नहीं है। यहां पर सामान्य स्थितियों जितनी सुरक्षा भी नहीं है। लोगों की आस्था है कि कमरुनाग इस खजाने की रक्षा करते हैं। देव कमरुनाग मंडी जिला के सबसे बड़े देव हैं।
महाभारत के युद्ध की गाथा में एक कहानी आती है, बबरीक अथवा बबरू भान जिसे रत्न यक्ष के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, वह अपने समय का अजेय योद्धा था। उसकी भी इच्छा थी कि वह महाभारत के युद्ध में हिस्सा ले। जब उसने अपनी माता से युद्धभूमि में जाने की आज्ञा लेनी चाही तो मां ने एक शर्त पर आज्ञा दी कि वह उस सेना की ओर से लड़ेगा जो हार रही होगी।
जब इस बात का पता श्री कृष्ण को चला तो उन्होंने बबरीक की परीक्षा लेने की ठानी क्योंकि श्री कृष्ण को पता था हर हाल में हार तो कौरवों की ही होनी है। श्री कृष्ण ने ब्राह्मण का वेष धारण किया और बबरीक से मिलने जा पहुंचे। उसके तरकश में सिर्फ तीन तीर देख कर श्री कृष्ण ने ठिठोली की कि बस तीन ही बाण से युद्ध करोगे। तब बबरीक ने बताया कि यह एक ही बाण का प्रयोग करेगा और वह भी प्रहार करने के बाद वापस उसी के पास आ जाएगा। यदि तीनों बाणों का उपयोग किया तो तीनों लोकों में तबाही मच जाएगी।
वचन प्राप्त करते ही श्री कृष्ण ने अपना असली रूप धारण किया तथा उस योद्धा का सिर मांग लिया। बबरीक ने एक इच्छा जाहिर की कि वह महाभारत का युद्ध देखना चाहता है तो श्री कृष्ण ने उसका कटा हुआ मस्तक, युद्ध भूमि में एक ऊंची जगह पर टांग दिया, जहां से वह युद्ध देख सके। कथा में वर्णन आता है कि बबरीक का सिर जिस तरफ भी घूम जाता था, वह सेना जीत हासिल करने लग जाती थी। ये देख कर श्री कृष्ण ने उसका सिर पांडवों के खेमे की ओर कर दिया। पांडवों की जीत सुनिश्चित हुई। युद्ध की समाप्ति के बाद कृष्ण ने बबरीक को वरदान दिया कि तुम कलयुग में श्याम खाटू के रूप में पूजे जाओगे और तुम्हारा धड़ (कमर) कमरू के रूप में पूजनीय होगा।
यहां पहाड़ी पर देव कमरुनाग के रूप में स्थित है। बाद में जब पांडव यहां से अपनी अंतिम यात्रा के दौरान गुजरे तो वह कमरू से मिलने के लिए रुके।
जब कमरु ने कहा कि उन्हें प्यास लगी है, तब भीम ने अपनी हथेली का वार धरती पर किया और वहां एक झील उभर गई, जो आज कमरुनाग झील के नाम से विख्यात है। पांडवों के पास जो भी गहने थे वो इस झील में फैंककर फूलों की घाटी की ओर प्रस्थान कर गए। आज भी यह परम्परा है, जो भी यहां आता है वह सोना-चांदी, गहने या सिक्के इस झील को अर्पित करता है।
यहां के पुजारी बताते हैं कि यह झील पाताल लोक तक गहरी है और इसमें कई अरब का खजाना समाहित है। कई बार चोरों ने इसे लूटने की कोशिश भी की। मगर जो भी इस नीयत से आया वह अंधा हो गया और कुछ भी हासिल न कर पाया। पुरानी मान्यताओं के अनुसार एक बार एक ब्रिटिश व्यक्ति ने इस झील से सोना निकालने की कोशिश की थी लेकिन वह इसमें नाकामयाब रहा और काफी बीमार हो गया।
कमरुनाग मंदिर में ठंड के दिनों में जाना काफी मुश्किल होता है। इस वक्त पूरा इलाका बर्फ की मोटी चादर से ढंक जाता है। ऐसे में यहां केवल अनुभवी ट्रैकर ही पहुंचते हैं। मंदिर का आकार काफी छोटा है लेकिन फिर यहां हर साल आने वाले भक्तों की तादाद

कमरुनाग झील 3,334 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। कामरुनाग झील के अलावा झील और मंदिर के लिए जाना जाता है। धौलाधर रेंज और बलह घाटी का दृश्य उस स्थान की सुंदर सुंदरता में जोड़ता है जहां देव कामरुनाग की झील और पेंट छत मंदिर देवदार के मोटे जंगलों से घिरा हुआ है। परंपरा के अनुसार, कामरुनाग महाभारत का राजा यक्ष है और पांडवों ने पूजा की थी। देव कामरुनाग द्वारा उनकी इच्छाओं की पूर्ति पर भक्तों द्वारा झील में सोने, चांदी और सिक्के की पेशकश करने की एक परंपरा है। झील के तल पर स्थित अन्य धातु के सोने, चांदी और सिक्के की मात्रा का आकलन करना संभव नहीं है। प्रकृति प्रेमियों के लिए, कामरुनाग की यात्रा स्वर्ग की यात्रा है। रोहांडा से कामरुनाग तक 6 किलोमीटर की तेज पहाड़ी पथ पर पैदल यात्रा को पूरा करने में 3 से 4 घंटे लगते हैं।

You have to hike a little to get there. My recommendation would be to hike at night, and when you get there take rest, pilgrimages often sing spiritual songs with bonfire at night, That would be a memorable moment. And then in morning, visit the Temple, worship and give your offering in lake. You can also go to sikari devi from kamrunaag. Its 8 hours of trekking.

Jai dev Kamrunag. This temple opens in the months of may and june. The whole will have to travel on foot and it will take 2 to 3 hours to reach temple from the main road. From beneath, you can't see the temple, but when you will reach there, you will fill with wonder after seeing the beauty of lake and nature, beautiful trees covering temple from whole sides. It's really amazing and good for tracking.

A beautiful place at the top of hills. You need to track for 6 km on the hilly top. Journey to the temple is very adventurous.

It’s a very old temple made of wood in Mandi District.
To reach here, you have to trek for 6kms from Rohanda. Trek is easy and it might take 3-3.5hrs from Rohanda to top even for old age people and children. There is few Dhabas and Prashad shops in temple premises where you can have delicious wood fire made food after getting tired of hike.
The temple is situated in beautiful place and the whole trail is beautiful with views of surroundings.the dustbins are everywhere which is a good thing. It’s a least visited and must visit place.

Beautiful valley. The road is a bit risky but I would prefer to take the trek from rohanda instead of the road diverted from chailchowk. Always confirm about the weather before going and yes avoid going on Sundays and holidays as it gets a bit crowded. Keep the place clean and don't act stupid by plucking each new flower you see on the way. Be gentle towards nature.

According to my GPS recording the distance from Rohanda to Kamarunag is 4.3 km with overall elevation hain of 820 m.
This lake also has the title of being mysterious like Roopkund, the well-known lake of Uttarakhand. In the entire year, on 14 and 15 June, according to the local time, 'Ek Date' and in the Himachali language 'Saja', during these two days of summer, the deity Kamarunag sees the whole world. Because Kamarunag is the largest deity of the valley and fulfills every vow, his fame is spread far and wide. Rohanda is about 60 km from Mandi city of Himachal Pradesh, about 5 km from here. The long walk begins.
There is a lake in front of the temple of the deity, which is known as 'Kamarunag lake'. The fair held here attracts a large crowd of devotees every year and according to old beliefs, devotees pour gold and silver gems and money into the lake. Based on this tradition that has been going on for centuries, it is believed that the treasure of billions has been buried in the bottom of this lake. Dev Kamarunag is considered the god of rain. According to one belief, there is an ancient belief of offering gold, silver and money to Lord Kamarunag. A grand puja is also organized at Lohri in Kamarunag.
It is also believed that “every vow is fulfilled by offering any jewel of your body in this lake, whether it is of gold or silver. The lake is full of money, this gold and silver has never been taken out of the lake ”. It is also believed that this lake goes directly to Hades. The treasure of the deities is hidden in this.
No one can steal this treasure from here. Because it is believed that the silent guard of Kamarunag protects it. A snake-like tree surrounds the place. About whom it is said that this snake deity comes in its true form, if anyone even hands over the treasures of this lake.

Jai ho Bada Dev Kamarunaag
देवभूमि हिमाचल के प्राचीन मंदिर रहस्यों से भरे पड़े हैं। इन मंदिरों से जुड़ी देव आस्था की बातें हर किसी को हैरान कर देती हैं।
अभिलेखों में मंडी के बड़ादेव कमरूनाग की बदौलत दिल्ली दरबार में रियासतकाल के समय मंडी के राजा जोगिंद्र सेन को राजाओं के सम्मेलन में सर्वश्रेष्ठ राजा का सम्मान दिलवाने का जिक्र है। देव समाज इससे गौरवान्वित है और शिवरात्रि पर्व में देव कमरूनाग के माधोराय दरबार में हाजरी भरने की प्राचीन रीत को आज भी बरकार है।दिल्ली में शर्त रखी गई थी कि जो विशेष सिंहासन पहचानेगा वह सर्वश्रेष्ठ राजा कहलाएगा। इस पर राजा जोगिंद्र सेन ने देव कमरूनाग से मन्नत मांगी थी। देवता ने सपने में राजा जोगिंद्र सेन को दर्शन दिए और कहा कि दिल्ली दरबार में जिस सिंहासन पर सांप दिखेगा उस सिंहासन पर आप विराजमान हो जाना। दिल्ली दरबार में ठीक वैसा ही हुआ।
जिसके बाद मंडी रियासत के राजा जोगिंद्र सेन को सर्वश्रेष्ठ राजा घोषित किया गया था। उपहार के रूप में राजा जोगिंद्र सेन ने देव कमरूनाग को मखमली कपड़े का सूरजपखा (पान का पता) भेंट किया था। जिस पर भगवान विष्णु की मूर्त बनाई गई है जो आज भी देवता के भंडार में स्थापित है।
महाभारत में इस भूमिका में थे बड़ा देव कमरूनाग
महाभारत में देव कमरूनाग रत्नयक्ष के रूप में आए थे। जो कौरवों के पक्ष में जा रहे थे। मगर भगवान कृष्ण ने उन्हें छल से हरा दिया था तथा देव कमरूनाग से उनका सिर मांगा था। जिसके बाद देव कमरूनाग ने अपना सिर भगवान कृष्ण को भेंट किया था। लेकिन रत्नयक्ष ने भगवान कृष्ण से अपनी अंतिम इच्छा में महाभारत का युद्ध देखने की मांग थी। जो भगवान कृष्ण ने सिर धड़ से अलग होने पर भी रत्नयक्ष की पूरी की थी।

Nice place peaceful place and good place for God lovers nice track that you will enjoy and you will cover track in 2-3 hours if you walk daily and if you are not a great Walker then it can take upto 5 hours and people from other states do carry water and something to eat because there is no shops on the track so take something to eat and you will get shops only on reaching the temple which is about 6 km hill track so take necessary things with you and you Will enjoy the nature and love the god place and temple
