Located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, snuggled in a spot amidst the mighty Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, sits the holy Bagalamukhi temple. The shrine is dedicated to one of the ten Mahavidyas of the Supreme Goddess as per Shaktism. Devotees visit the temple with hopes of getting their wishes fulfilled, cases won, exams passed or life otherwise to be happy and successful. It is said that anything asked for after performing homagni and yajna at the temple is granted.

The name Bagalamukhi comes from two separate Sanskrit words, 'Bagala' meaning 'bride' and 'mukhi' meaning 'face'. In essence, it translates to the deity having captivating and hypnotising powers in her face or herself which fights the evil away.  It is said that yellow is the favourite colour of the goddess which is why the Baglamukhi Temple has been painted yellow in colour. All the worshippers of the Goddess wear yellow coloured clothes, and yellow sweets are offered to the deity.  Many festivals are celebrated at Maa Baglamukhi Temple including Navratri, Guru Purnima, Vasant Panchami, and other special pujas and aartis.

The god Vishnu was disturbed and performed austerities to appease the goddess Parvati on shore of Haridra Sarovar, the lake of turmeric. Pleased with Vishnu, the goddess appeared and brought forth her manifestation Bagalamukhi from the lake. Bagalamukhi calmed the storm, restoring order in the universe.

Jai mata di
This phase stands perfect for Sameli’s Baglamukhi Temple. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Bagalamukhi who is also called Maa Pitambari in north India. Bagalamukhi is one of the ten forms of the wise Devi, symbolizing a potent female primeval force.

While the temple is spread on a large piece of land, you will love the anonymity and forget the restless city life. Apart from spirituality, you will admire the structure of the temple that is chosen to inculcate in the mode of Shikhara architecture. The other main temples dedicated to Bagalamukhi or Bagala Devi are located at Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati, and Assam.

The shrine is dedicated to one of the ten Mahavidyas of the Supreme Goddess as per Shaktism. Devotees visit the temple with hopes of getting their wishes fulfilled, cases won, exams passed or life otherwise to be happy and successful. People say you get all your wishes fulfilled if you pray here. Very famous temple in this area. Lots of people were performing HAVAN. A bhandara or langar also keeps on going here where you can have lunch as Prasadam. Very clean wash room. Well maintained. No hill climbing. Just near the road. Loved the serenity of the area.
