Banjara Camps & Retreat

Very Beautiful Rever side Resort with delicious food and awesome service with cozy rooms.

Our recent trip to Sangla at Banjara Camps and Retreat has left bad taste in our mouth and worst experience we ever had. We were group of 14 people and booked 7 Rooms for 4 days.

When we reached after walking almost 300 metres from parking lot, to our surprise we found NO RECEPTION COUNTER at the hotel, they straight away shifted us to our rooms even without demanding for our ID’s or any other proof!

Thus, began our misery… There were no intercoms or any house keeping services. There was no Tolietaries in bathroom, bedsheets were torn and unclean. They did not even change the linens over the course of 4 days nor did they replace the towels or toiletaries. BTW we had booked the most premium 7 rooms available.

Very less options for breakfast, not even basic fruits were provided for breakfast!

No Driver accommodations were provided to our 3 drivers and we were asked to pay a very high price for their foods which we paid while checking out…… here comes the another surprise …. After checking out our drivers told us they were not provided proper food and they managed it on their own. So the money that was charged for drivers food was NOT provided to them.

And the big one …. They harassed us and held us *Hostage* for an unforeseen event to extort money. On day 1 few planks holding the bed broke in children’s room. Taking responsibility we agreed to pay charges for the repairs. To our Biggest Surprise they made an unreasonable demands of Rs 1 lakh! They claimed that planks was made of Sag (Teak) wood and asked for it to be ordered only from Chandigarh however the carpenter told us it was Apricot wood and can be locally easily sourced. Instead of helping us with local carpenters or providing contacts to source the material they kept adding on to the troubles.eventually when we manage for all this by ourselves in an unknown city they stopped the carpenters and the tempo that carried the wood all the way from Chandigarh to enter the hotel so that we cross the checkout time. Their sole aim was to only extract money from us one way or the other. Eventually we got the bed repaired and they made us pay for 1 day Extra Room charge as the bed got repaired 15 mins after check out time.

Initial bills they provide are all hand written with No GST mentioned, only if asked for a GST bill they don’t even provide a hard copy, instead they say, will email us which we haven’t recd as yet

When we demanded for the bill they charged us for an extra day and agree to pay via Gpay, they provided us with phone no of us General store. We refused to transfer until they provided us with official Banjara account, which then they had to with a frown face!

While interacting with others at the retreat we realised we weren't the only ones, most others were facing similar issues one way or the other.
The local owner Mr. Ajay and manager- Mr Om Prakash are extremely rude and non cooperative. They are pretty much running an unlawful scheme to extort money from their customers. All visitors must be aware and this matter must be raised effectively such that others don't have to go through what we or the others that have visited this place have faced. And a beautiful trip to Sangla is not spoiled.

Staff, starting with the manager Mr Omprakash is very helpful.

STAYED AT TWO DIFERENT BANJARA PROPERTIES FOR TWO
NIGHTS AT SANGLA & ONE NIGHT AT THANEDAR. SANGLA STAY WAS A NIGHTMARE AS FAR AS THEIR ROOM SERVICE, CLEANINESS & ATTITUDE (EVEN TOWARDS SICK & OLD AGE PERSONS) IS CONCERNED. WHO WILL APPRICIATE ROOMS & BATHROOMS WITHOUT WATER, DIRTY TOWLS WITH HOLES, ABSENCE OF ANY STAFF EVEN TO TAKE CARE OF BASIC NEEDS LEAVE APART THE LUXARIES. SO DISAPPOINTED.
THANEDAR STAY WAS DECENT ONE. BEHAVIOR OF MR ATTAR SHARMA WAS SO COOPERATIVE & QAULITY OF FOOD, SERVICE, STANDARD OF NEATNESS WAS GREAT.

Rude and unpolite people (staff n owner), very bad experience, will never suggest anyone to visit this place.

Visited on 12/12 to 14/12, it was a fantabulous experience, the location, the overall coordination, the staff at the location, their hospitality, care n timely suggestions regarding various aspects.really felt like "Home" away from home.very reliable n amicable

As the brand name Banjara carries the fame so does this place as it is here where the First tourist destination in Batseri village of Sangla started long back in the year 1994.
A wonderful place situated inside an apple orchard with luxury tents and modern rooms, wonderful food and polite and helpful staff and it’s famous chai ka adda and the wonderful daily bon fires coupled with excellent host Mr. Ajay Sood who is always there to take care of your needs.
A must visit place when in Sangla valley.

Lahaul & Spiti tour very well arranged. The stays were superb, the vehicle arrangement was perfect, transparent negotiations, reasonably priced…. Thanks Banjara for this memorable experience!

Banjara Camps and Retreats is an amazing property at Sangla. Great hospitality, great food and magical ambience at the resort. 2 nights well spent. Chai Adda is a must visit. The breakfast, lunch and dinner has great variety, made of fresh produce from their own gardens. Specifically loved the apple and cherry jams and chutneys. Nestled in apple orchards, on the banks of the Sutlej, in a valley of its own, this resort is a must visit. Capt. Sud is a very gracious host and all our wishes are catered to. Very well trained staff!

Fantastic place with cinematic views to rejuvenate. It's perfectly located around 25kms away from the main Shimla- kaza highways. The place has beautiful rooms and is in the midst of apple orchid garden. The car parking is around 5 mins walk from the main resort. The sound of the river flowing nearby the property makes the stay more majestic.

A very beautiful place located between the hills of Kinnaur and the food is amazing. Overall loved the property and anybody looking to book a place Banjara hills is the one to book without any doubt.

Best place to enjoy your trip to Sangla/Chitkul. Food is awsum and room service/staff go out of their way to help you out. 5 stars for everything at Banjara Camps Sangla.

We really enjoyed our trip through Banjara Camps. Our experience was really very good. We did not face any issue whatsoever. All properties where the stay was provided were clean and hygienic. Food at all the places was good.

The driver (Mr Uttam) was really great. Since our trip required lot of road journey, he drove us around safely. He was absolutely safe and took good care of us. Innova that was provided was absolutely in good condition. We had a pleasant experience travelling in the Innova.

Every once in a while you come across a place which deserves a 6 star rating. Banjara camps at Batseri/ Sangla is one of them.
The upkeep of the place is beyond excellent, definitely not something we imagined in a remote place like this. Location is mesmerizing, food is great and staff is wonderful.
If planning a trip there then look forward to Capt. Ajay Sud's amazing photographs over a cup of tea and enchanting travel stories over the decades)

Banjara camps is the right place to go to if you want to stay in a place with a breathtaking view to wake upto. If you are lucky like us, it will rain and you might get surrounded by snow capped majestic mountains. The site is huge and has a river flowing nearby where you can (if you have boys) chuck some stones. The camp is full of Apple Orchards and if you meet Captain Sood, he might pluck some fresh strawberries for you. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with warmers if it gets cold. You could also go for treks/trails nearby and you will get not just guides but a lot of suggestions from Capt Sood and the travelers who convene in the dinning room and become your buddies even thought you are meeting them for the first time. My only disappointment was the food but when we ordered ala crate with just Rajma, rice it was awesome. A must visit for the beauty, great host and fellow travelers and their stories to share.

Excellent hospitality and location.we visited this place in group of 12 pax. If you are interested is solitude with best hospitality then this is the place. Mr Sharma management is great and mr rakesh dedication to his duty and service is great.must visit this place specially with family.

Had a very pleasant stay. Super place, right in the valley. Surrounded by mountains. People are very friendly warm and welcoming. Loved my stay here.

The property - You wouldn't mind spending time here if you are too tired to explore outside, Upkeep of premises - Great, Food - Delicious, Staff - Courteous, Sports Arena - Adds the X factor, River Access and View - Could be much better, Cost - Go if you are not cost conscious

Wonderful place by the river I stayed in the retreat in the winter period and the place the food, weather name it and everything is perfect just the right place to relax your mind and soul

Superb place. Such a lovely ambience and very courteous staff. Food is superb and views from each of the rooms balcony are fantastic. River flowing nearby. To reach to banjara camps you need to cross sangla and drive down to the banjara parking. From the parking there is 200 mtes walk to the hotel. This is a must visit place. The room rates are on higher side but it is including all the meals.

I literally have no words to describe the Experience. Very helpful staff and food tastes yummy. Must visit. Highly recommended.

Amazing place. If you need to get some peace, you need to get here. No TVs and plenty of trekking options. Packed lunches make the trek even more fruitful.

Nestled in the scenic Sangla valley on the bank of river Baspa, Banjara camp site leaves you breathless with the views of scenic snow peaks surrounding the site. Rooms are cozy and comfortable with prompt and polite service. Food is fantastic with an elaborate layout of tasty preparations. Evening bonfire by the river is a great meeting point for all the residents. Trekking guides and packed lunches are a fantastic facility. Trout and kebab barbecue by the bonfire are just memorable.

Amazing location, Beautiful property, and most importantly wonderful staff, who is really eager to take care! Capt. Sud runs an efficient camp and eager to excite the visitors to explore the natural beauty that is simply breathtaking!

Stayed in a Deluxe Swiss Cottage tent set in an apple orchard next to Baspa River. Spectacular scenery all around. Constant music of Baspa rushing downstream. Trekked 8 km through mountains & crossed 2 glaciers to reach Rakchham, again to see an out of the world scenery unfold set in a valley flanked by towering snow clad mountains. Chilling after sunset so bonfire every evening & hot water bottles in bed! Food, hospitality & care outstanding in Banjara Camps! Special mention of Capt Ajay Sud & Om Prakash Thakur ji who make everyone feel at home. Excellent arrangements all round! Wish we'd stayed at least 3 nights.

Access road is quite a put off! When we visited there was just one more room occupied so can't comment on how it would function full house. Services were satisfactory and so was food. Though, room, upholstery and other in room amenities were rather basic.

This is very beautiful place but you want to see it is on illigal place. I want to say that Banjara Camp will apperate with Sh. Shiv Lal Ji (owner of this field). But Banjara Camp is not ready for this it results High court give a permission to pick up their Camp from the field of Sh. Shiv Lal Ji.

Serenity, tranquillity defines how an amazing place should be. This place is an epitome of that definition.

Best in Sangla; Good food ; Manager was really Very helpful, bit expensive but worth for stay.
