Its a religious place, shiv temple located on top the hill approximately 25km from kullu. Can go by cab until its 8km to the temple and from there its only trek which is considerably easy.

The shrine of Bijlimahadev Temple is one of the most historical of Lord Shiva. One must definitely read about the history of this temple.
One when visiting the temple, needs to do a hike of approx. 1.5km if starting from Karate Village, which is the last point one can get there vehicles.

Bijli Mahadev is one of the ancient temples in India and dedicated to Lord Shiva  (Mahadev). Located 14 km from Kullu across the Beas river, it can be approached by a rewarding trek of 3 km.
A panoramic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. The 60 feet high staff of Bijli Mahadev temple glistens like a silver needle in the sun.
Every 12 years, the Shiv lingam is struck by lightning which causes the lingam to break into pieces. The priest then wraps the broken lingam with butter and after few days the lingam becomes as it was.

My recent visit to Bijli Mahadev left me utterly mesmerized and deeply inspired. This sacred place, perched atop the hills, is more than just a destination – it's an experience that's etched in my memory forever.

The journey to Bijli Mahadev itself was an adventure, with the trek offering stunning vistas and a chance to immerse myself in nature's beauty. As I ascended the trail, the air grew crisper, and the panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks took my breath away.

I went to BM by bus! From Chansari to BM it's a 2-3 hours hike. It's steep though very rewarding. There are plenty of cafes along the way and rest points.

Very good place. Only problem is the road its broken and narrow (broken at least for 1-1.5 km from the destination)

The way to bijli mahadev temple is just beautiful and so much adventurous, more than half of the distance covered by unforgettable bikeride.there are uncountable trees of fruits on the way.but the roads are very risky out there, don't even think to go there on bikes in monsoons.at a point where u can not take vehicles forward, there u can enjoy track in the beauty of nature, it's so difficult for me to walk after a long bikeride bt when u reach at the top it worth all the time and tiredness.

This sacred temple is located at an altitude of 2460m in the Kullu valley.after an treck of near about 1.5Km you will reaching this beautiful place.a beautiful view of kullu, bhunter, mountains may full once heart with joy. One should visit this place and temple and take the blessings of lord shiva.

It was a wonderful to visit this divine place, did not feel like coming down although the trek was a little tough but worth visiting.

Bholenath Bijli Mahadev Ji temple in the midst of peace and beautiful nature. Very fascinating scenes all around. Bijli Mahadev temple distance is 25 km from Kullu and 2 km for walking. By coming here, the mind gets very relaxed and peaceful. The most important feature of this temple is that when bad times come on earth, Bhole Nath takes it upon himself. It is believed that lightning falls from the sky after every year. Whom the Lord takes upon Himself, so that there is no harm to their fears.

Expansive views from the top in 3 directions. Very beautiful. A moderate ascent of 2 hours, majority of which is through a pine forest. Buses ply from Kullu, but not very frequent. We weren't getting a bus down, but the friendly locals managed to get us to Kullu. Tiring (it was sunny), but a very rewarding trip.

Amazing place to visit. A small and easily trek of 2km leads to this beautiful place. The view of the whole Kullu valley from top is spectacular. The story of the temple is also amazing. There are some camping sites on the top to stay.

What a beautiful place. Cannot put it in words. If you are in Kasol or naggar, Bijli Mahadev is a go to place. The trekking is beautiful, the view is splendid and what a peaceful place it is.

Best place which is said for it's shivling which is made up of butter and which breaks after 12years one which lights bijli from the sky.

Bijli Mahadev Trek is named after the Bijli Mahadev Mandir which is a temple of Lord Shiva. Located at a height of 2452 meters, the place lies at a distance of 24 kilometers east of Kullu in the district of Himachal Pradesh. Not being much of an intense traveler, I choose this particular trek in North among all the trekking destinations in India because even though the trekking route comprises of a stiff climb for the first kilometer, it then eases out into a more gentle and comfortable ascent for beginners. In spite of being in Himachal Pradesh many times, I hadn’t visited this part of the state and I must say it was really worth it.

The view from the Bijli Mahadev temple is spectacular and left me spellbound. It looks out at the famous Parvati valley. I was lucky enough to experience the place on a clear morning when the entire valley lit up in shades of blue. After I got out of my trance and could finally take my eyes away from the spectacular view outside the window, I was mesmerized once again by the beautiful interiors of the temple. It is decorated with gorgeous carvings depicting mythological figures and natural scenes. Hand-painted temple doors are also a beautiful site, and sense of vibrancy and charisma to the wood carvings.
Like most trekking routes in the northern part of the country, the Bijli Mahadev Trek remains closed in the winter months. Due to extreme weather conditions and immense snowfall, the road remains un-travelable and unfit for tracking. Also, the area is prone to violent thunderstorms. Therefore the best time to visit the place is during the summer months, it is also the best time to visit Manali & nearby places. I planned my trip in the month of March and was not disappointed. The Bijli Mahadev Trek is ideal for beginners and for people with health problems. Since the track does not involve steep climbing or reaching higher altitude it can be pursued by anyone. The trek is relatively safe and hardly records any deaths or accidents. In spite of being prone to thunder and lightning, the region is considered without risks, as compared to the other Himalayan treks. I myself I am not quite athletic physically, do not go on a lot of treks and should be considered a rookie in this matter. However, the trek felt easy to me and I did not have any problem in completing it.

After coming back from my trip to Bijli Mahadev I was energized and freshened up. The site is a Paradise for travel enthusiasts. The scenic beauty of the Himalayan Mountains is known by all. Bijli Mahadev Trek offers an authentic experience of trekking in Himachal without going through a lot of struggle. It is also easy to reach and is well connected to the major cities of the country. So don’t wait up and start packing for your trip to this wonderful place.

Nice view from top but 2km distance from road take more than 1 hour to reach. Please come with your own vehicle bcoz not much good transportation facilities. Peaceful area and best for meditation and fresh air. Get a chance to taste local dish "Sidu".

बिजली महादेव जी का यह बहुत ही सुंदर मंदिर है कुल्लू से लगभग 20: 25 किलोमीटर की गाड़ी की लिए सड़क बनी हुई है और उससे आगे लगभग 45 मिनट का पैदल रास्ता है जिसके बाद बहुत सुंदर घास का मैदान है जहां से पूरी हिमालयन बर्फ की रेंज साफ दिखाई देती है और भुंतर एयरपोर्ट का बहुत सुंदर नजारा है

REALLY, such a peaceful and exciting place. If u ever go to kullu manali plz visit dis awsm place, never miss the oppotunity to explore such a tremendous place of shiva, we went through a trek of almost 5km of steep trail. The top is hard to reach for many people

It's a good trek of 2 hours depending on pace with which one can climb. It's almost 1.5 Kms but because of steepness it takes good amount of time.

But the view at top is really awesome and worth the time/sweat spent on the trail. Awesome views of mountains and rivers on both sides of the valley. You can even see the Kullu airport from here.

If you want to have darshan do check the locals if temple is open, it's generally closed in winter months.

You will experience tranquility here. Its a 2 km uphill trek from the parking spot. If you feel like giving up in between, take a good look at this picture. The view is definitely worth the climb.

Nice place to visit and also loved by tracking lover's, temple situated on the top of the mountain and if you wanna see then you get a beautiful view of nature. I think it's a nice place to visit with your family. And if you are a nature lover and like to see some mountains and forest then you can find few dense forest too on the way of the temple. If you wish to take bath on the top then plan your trip in Saavan. I've also uploaded pics, i was in little bit hurry so wasn't able to click more pics in the morning and evening. The way to reach on top it's a single mountain road so if you don't have good experience to drive on mountains then don't try to go because it's only 10 feet wide road without any safety pillers. I am feeling very proud because my four year daughter have completed this 6KM trekking without any if and buts. Recommended place for nature lovers and Bhagwan Bholenath ke Bhakt

Must visit.if planning to come by own car have fun with the off-road driving. If not comfortable then prefer to hire a cab.start early so that you can spend 3-4 hours on the hill

Very beautiful and peaceful place -Land of Shiva. One must pay a visit if coming to Manali. Nice destination for trekkers.

The temple is surrounded by a scenic plethora of ravishing mountainous terrain with calm and soothing vibes. Devotees from different regions visit here to seek blessings of Lord Shiva. The temple doors remain closed from mid December to mid March and during this span opens only 3 days prior to the festival of Shivaratri. Although, it is completely upto to the person as he/she can visit at any time of the year. The person can visit the temple either by taking a 4 hour long trek (for an average person) or use a vehicle to reach the nearest parking spot and then climb to reach the ultimate location. Usually, from late November to mid February the path to the temple is heavily snow laden. I visited this place in early March two days prior to the eve of Shivaratri.

Bijli Mahadev is place one must visit when u go to Kullu. It's about 3 to 4km trek from the point of motorable road.being situtated in height this temple has a unique story. Once in 12 years thunder fall on the shivlinga and it's breaks into pieces. Then its being reformed in the same shape using butter which can be observed when anyone visit the temple.
This place gives mesmerising view of river Parvati getting merge into river Beas. One can have panoramic or bird eye view of the valleys around it.

Comparatively easy trek. Beautiful view from top. Sacred temple. But Temple waste is thrown in open which is causing severe damage as the waste is consumed by other animals such as cows and dogs which will undoubtedly cause suffering to the animals.

I love this place. There are two lake while we tracking.you can see the Kullu airport from there.this is the hight peak of a mountain you can also see other mountain peaks. In winter all area were covered with snow.
