Chadwick Falls, Shimla, a hidden natural wonder. The cascading waters amidst lush greenery create a serene retreat for nature enthusiasts. Truly enchanting!

Chadwick Falls left me in sheer awe of nature's beauty and power. Tucked away amidst the Himalayan landscapes, Chadwick Falls is a true gem, and my experience here was nothing short of magical.

Spectacular Natural Wonder:
Chadwick Falls is a breathtaking sight to behold. As I approached the falls, the thundering roar of water became more pronounced, and the cascading white veil against the lush green backdrop was a sight I will forever cherish. The sheer height and force of the falls left me mesmerized.

Tranquil Escape:
One of the most enchanting aspects of Chadwick Falls is the sense of tranquility that envelops the area. Surrounded by dense forests and pristine air, the falls offer a peaceful retreat from the chaos of city life. It's the perfect place for nature enthusiasts and those seeking solace.

Rich Biodiversity:
The falls are situated in a region teeming with diverse flora and fauna. During my visit, I encountered a variety of plant species, from delicate ferns to towering pines. Birdwatchers will also find joy in spotting the many avian species that inhabit this forested area.

Accessibility and Trekking:
Chadwick Falls is accessible via a scenic trek through the forest. The journey itself is an adventure, with well-marked paths and the sounds of nature as your constant companion. The relatively moderate trek ensures that visitors of various fitness levels can enjoy the experience.

Preservation Efforts:
It's heartening to see the efforts made to preserve the natural beauty of Chadwick Falls. The area was clean and well-maintained, with minimal litter. Environmental conservation initiatives in the region are essential to protect this fragile ecosystem.

This waterfall is situated in between lush green forest in Sangti, Himachal Pradesh. You can reach the waterfall by walking. It's a lovely and beautiful place. One should visit the place between 6am to 6pm.

Not recommended. It's a drain coming from houses and hostels nearby. Foul smell and polluted water. If you are nature lover you can Trek or have a walk in the forest for peace of mind and relaxation. You can visit in monsoons when the water level is high.

Beautiful narrow track to Chadwick Fall from road.
Fall is more scenic during rainy season.
Surrounding are all natural beauty, untouched.

Not at all worth going. Water is not clean as it pass through 3 villages before reaching the fall point. Place is really unhygienic.

Chadwick falls located in Shimla is also one of India’s best waterfalls.   Tourists, who visit Shimla, make sure to visit the Chadwick falls too. Located in Himachal Pradesh, it is a known fact that this state is one of India’s best tourist destinations. And thus there should be no doubts that this is where you should be on your next trip to Shimla.   Beautifully nestled in the middle of dense forests and woods, the alluring Chadwick falls from a height of 1586 m.

The best part about Chadwick waterfall is the surrounding area that consists of thick forests with many pine and deodar trees. The scenic location adds more beauty and serenity to the already striking waterfalls. Flowing in all its might and force, the waters are chilly and milky white. To watch the water fall from such a great height and collect into a small pond is view that nobody will ever get tired of views like these. And for nature lovers, this view is sheer joy and peace. City dwellers know the importance of nature and its wonders more since that is the only source of rejuvenation.  Chadwick waterfall is more active during monsoons and for some time after that.   Sparkling waterfall amidst lush greenery, what more can you ask for! Once you are done exploring Chadwick, you can also visit some really beautiful and ancient waterfalls around the waterfalls.  This region also has a fair every year in April which is visited by many travelers.  Another very interesting fact about this waterfall is that it has been one of the biggest sources of water for the surrounding forest area in Shimla for many years now.

From October to July, you can visit this waterfall at any time since that is when the waterfall can be witnessed in its best. Now you have more reasons to visit Shimla and one of them is of course this beautiful waterfall

Chadwick fall is a great tourist attraction place in Shimla, about 5 km from the bus stand or city centre. This place gives peace and joy to mind. Love spending time there.
01 जून 2021 16:53
There is hardly some water falling like an unproperly closed tap. Huge disappointment. On top of that plastic and chips bags and plastic and beer bottles over the place. However the trail in the forest was nice, minus the garbage around

One of the most striking Shimla Tourist Places to visit, Chadwick Waterfall is tucked away in an undisturbed corner of Glen Forests. Though the height of the falls is only 100 meters, but the trek through the lush forests surrounding the area makes up for what it lacks in terms of grandeur.

If you are really looking for peace of mind, then this place is must to go. Its free from too much crowd and in between in middle of the forest. The cold Breeze That you'll feel on your face the wind's noise, birds chirping.its just amazing.
PS: - This place is only for those who loves to spend some quality time alone.

This is very bad place. According to himachal tourism this is 5 km away from highway but this is 16 km far and maybe more. After that we cannot go there with car.we have to walk.there is also no good food.
09 अप्रैल 2021 21:26
This is another un-exproled place in Shimla. One can visit this place, this a small drive and a small track of around 500 meters. I suggest you to ask people for this place because maps are quite confusing.
12 मार्च 2021 2:14
In winter it's quite dry. A walk of max 500m from the board showing the start point. Drive is quite tough on the terrain till the point.

If anyone loves the nature, this place is must a visit. We went to this place by 4 km of tracking. If any one want to visit this place, park the car near the art gallery. Then track down 2 km into the mountainous jungle.

Awesome place.recentky visited there and it was kind a difficult to find it but eventually did. Eventually all i can see it deserve this much hustle in finding it out. I think Shimla administrative should out more SIGN BOARD to make it easy for travellers. Overall ONE OF THE BEST ADVENTOUROUS PLACE AND I WILL SUGEST GO BY WALK FROM SUMMER HILL TOP.
01 दिसंबर 2019 22:48
I had to walk for approx 2km to reach the fall from the sing board.water of the fall is not natural water it is dirty water nd the place is full of dirty smell.if u like tracking than the place is for u beacuse of the way which is very beautiful.
15 अक्टूबर 2019 6:04
This place is about 8-12km from the Shimla town and cost about 400-500₹ by cab. (This is possibly the best way for new people to reach this place. There will be no need to rental a hotel near the Chadwick fall in order to visit this place.

If you book a hotel because of visit the fall it’ll be waste of money and very stressful as there isn’t a food joint or any place near by to eat. It’s better to stay in the Shimla town and visit the falls by cab so you can return.

It’s very easy to find the place in the center if the forest. Few people visit this place, fall is a little narrow but view is great

Chadwick falls lies in the lap of nature and trek towards it provide for an experience very close to nature. Trek goes through thick forest and you would notice the beautiful landscape and greenery almost untouched by human intervention. However it is a far secluded place with very few visitors. We met only few peoples (six girls) throughout the 1 hour we were away from road. Trek path is dangerous especially during rains when it gets very slippery. It had rained a little in the morning of the day we visited. Path was walkable but we had to remain careful. Chadwick falls is a very small stream falling from a cliff and itself is not exceptionally good.
20 सितंबर 2019 12:08
This waterfall is near Summer hill, it took approx half hour to reach there by walking from HPU. There was no sign board from where one can enter inside forest to reach this fall. During rainy season be aware of getting slipped and leaches. It's height was around 80- 100 mtrs.

When I visited the place there was water but not as much as I expected. The place is good in its own way but it needs alot of care. Authorities should invest more time and money for this place development. It can be a great gem in Shimla to visit.
08 सितंबर 2019 0:34
Though i had not seen the fall but trust me the way to the fall was pretty adventurous little scary as we could not see anybody apart from trees. It was dense Forest. Very isolated and peaceful. Request to people plz dont spoil beauty of jungle dont litter around.plz take water waste you have with u.
16 अगस्त 2019 10:05
I trekked about1km to reach here, good thing about this place is that this place is not easily accessible by car or any kind of vehicle and you have to trek up and down the hill on a very narrow pathway and because of this you will not find much trace of plastic, I was very happy seeing this, we all should keep our surroundings clean and minimize the use of plastic.
क्यूंकि मुझे दिख गया ज़रूरी नहीं भविष्य में सब को दिखे ।
Think about it ️

The trek upto the falls was lovely.if you love a good walk treading that path will be a rewarding experience.the view from the school ground before actually reaching the falls was the highpoint of my visit.the actual falls are disappointing though.polluted and smelly.

So yes.the walk.an absolute yes
The fall.not too sure

The falls is nestled a few kilometers away from Shimla. The place is connected by bus but isn't very frequent and is a gamble.

If you're gonna walk it'll take a while

The trek is about 30 minutes long an is honestly the best part of the entire ordeal.

The waterfalls were not very impressive and can turn into a trickle during the summers. It wasn't the cleanest waterfall either.

Trek to the falls - 4/5
The falls itself - 2/5

Took us forever to find this nonsensical place and eventually what we found was just water from the gutter falling down from some stupid rocks.there are no images to get there and it was a real mess animes and so many wrong turns before we made it to the space however just to find only gutter water. No one never ever go there.this place should be erased of the map of Himachal Pradesh what to talk of being a tourist spot. Finding this place for 2 hours I wasted my entire day and my kids were exhausted for nothing. If it were USA and not India I would sue the government for claiming this as a tourist spot.
04 जुलाई 2019 19:41
If you want to take small trekking experience then you must go, but if you are looking for waterfall then please don't go there, waterfall water is very dirty, you won't able to go inside

Chadwick waterfall is a beautiful waterfall in Shimla but due to lack of proper management by Administration at present condition of this waterfall is very bad.
23 जून 2019 15:04
Good place for tourists to visit only on rain season because in other seasons there is no much water and also bad smell in water because the water come from washrooms of sangti village.
13 जून 2019 3:20
We explored Chadwick falls too after asking a lot of people on the way for directions. Most of the waterfall was frozen though and even the water at the base was a sheet of ice. It was a lovely 10-minute walk through the serene forest to get to the waterfall. The falls are not a favourite tourist stop, but this is recommended if you want to enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods

Chadwick Falls is located in the Glen Forests in the beautiful city of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Situated not far from the bustling city area, the Chadwick Falls are frequently visited by picnickers. Some may even prefer walking down to the falls exploring and absorbing every bit of the beautiful natural landscape of the quaint little town. This stream of water trickles from a height of about 100 metres. It is not a massive waterfall but is admired for the tranquillity and the hypnotic vibe it creates amidst the dense forest region. Some explorers recall a walk through the forest as an adventurous experience because of the damp and dark environment created by the thick canopying forest. A perfect place to unwind, Chadwick Falls is frequented for a daytime picnic.

This one's the worst place in all of Shimla. The fall is not reachable by any kind of vehicle but you can come to it as close as a 1km trek. The way to the fall is pretty cool as you'll have to cross the jungle in a bit fascinating yet doable way but the final destination is very disappointing as the fall has now turned into a dump house smelling like garbage (which in Indian origin is known as a 'NAALA'). Since it is situated far off from the city centre you might as well skip coming here unless you have any spare time left. The place is always free from sunlight as the rays of the sun are blocked by the ever-growing tall forest trees growing in close proximity within one another.
Though this place comes under Shimla Forest Division Authority, it has got nothing left to be protected and will require a lot of labour to regain it's old value. The water level has also gone down drastically as well so you better pray that it's rainy season when you visit here otherwise it would be a total waste coming down here.
