It's a great place to spend time with family. Lush green forest area with pine trees and sound of birds chirping within the palce is the main highlight. Amazing heritage property. You can also ask the caretaker to view loghuts. We visited Rajgarh cottage. It has 4 rooms in 2 floors, its own kitchen, cards tables, dining room, living room, fireplace, powder area. Everything is so spacious. Bathroom is marble made. Though the carpets in room are old and rooms are not well painted.
The entry to the palace is 200 per person which is not at all worth it. There was some construction going on hence it's not maintained if you are going as visitor.
We visited the palace as tourists, expecting some detailed museum tour. But it turned out to be a hotel with hardly 5 minutes worth of items to see. Almost all the areas were blocked for the residents. As a visitor, is not worth the 200 INR ticket at all.
Misguided Tourist Location 1. Its a hotel which is maintained by Himachal Govt. 2. Its not a sight seeing place. They charge Rs. 200 per person to enter this building and its pathetic building. Only lobby area is available and allowed to be seen by visitors and rest of the property is just rooms. The lunch restaurant will remind you of railway station canteen or parliament canteen.
Do not waste your money on sight seeing of this place.
Its just a government hotel and there is nothing else there.
Omg.such a beautiful place with lots of royalty… best time to visit is summer with fantastic weather.flowers around the palace are beautiful.having lunch here is wonderful experience
They have taken Rs 200 per individual which I think is over priced. Just to see the palace and spending so much money is not worth able. I will not come there again
Limited food options, Nothing to see, aggressive monkeys everywhere, food quality Pathetic, just a small garden in the top but beware of your stuff coz of monkeys. Not a place to go with kids as they will get bored. Terrible non courteous Staff.
The place where a famous scene of "3 Idiots" was shot, the Palace is really beautiful. The garden of the Palace is huge and clean. A place for tourists to enjoy.
The food was super delicious for my taste and the palace is quite royal as it must have been in those days I must say. It was calm up there in and out the palace.
This is a peaceful and cool place (carry warm clothes for your kids and yourself). There are 3 things you can enjoy here:
1) Long Pine Trees, Lush greenery, clouds, fog and awesome weather. 2) A place of Maharaj Yadvendra Singh (Patiala), which have a restaurant, drink bar and also stay to live and see historical belongings of king and queen. 3) A garden which have ample space to sit and enjoy with your family.
This is a perfect place for Photoshoot (wedding, couple etc.)
Ill maintained hotel with exorbitant tariffs. A must avoidable place unless one has extra money to waste. Reason 1. Entrance ticket of Rs 100/- per passenger, and you are welcomed with broken road, badly maintained park and tennis court. 2. Parapets full of molases (काई) greets you. 3. Dirty carpet floor inside the hotel as if it has not been cleaned for years. 4. White coloured wooden doors have turned dirty. Seems not painted for years. 5. The footpath in the front lawn is full of cracks. One has to be careful while walking. 6. The toilet of Cafe in front lawn remains dirty. 7. Being a govt venture the staff has a couldn't care attitude. Warmth is missing. Overall a ill maintained hotel and it's premises. Overhyped. Tourists feel fleeced after the visit. HPTDC must take pains to maintain and run this hotel in a befitting manner else close it or privatise it. They are earning tremendous amount from entry tickets and must use that money for it's renovation and maintenance. Request state tourism minister to pay a visit and take first hand notice of state of affairs.
While coming from Shimla/Kufri, the palace is located nearly a kilometre away from city centre. Entry fee is 100 per person. It has been converted into hotel, u can book ur stay and have fun of living in the king size rooms. U can click multiple pictures with antique items and in the garden area and easily spend 1-2hrs with friends/family.
Rooms are expensive, food was good. We stayed in Rajkumari room no. 204, mouse ruined our night sleep. The staff managed to find and kill the mouse but they don't even have mouse traps in palace. There is no discount on food and bar. Anyways the clouds and rain made the stay pleasent.
This place was truly amazing, the kind of maintanace these people have is just amazing, the palace is very beautiful and the best part is that they allow us to take pictures
Nice vintage palace amidst forests.but there they charged ₹100 per person.i don't know for what they charged.avoid weekends as there's lot of rush.and and and beware of monkeys.other than that nice place for photoshoot and also to enjoy serene and peaceful surrounding ️️
Quaint place with lots of scenic views and lush green lawn where your children can play and enjoy the weather. The said place reeks royalty and I am sure if you stay here for a long time, you will feel like a Raja. HP tourism has come a long way in maintaining the properties and ensuring they are upto the private standards.
It’s a good place to come for a visit and see the palace which you can enter by paying a nominal charge of INR 100 per person at the main gate.
They Charge Rs. 100/- as entry fee for showing nothing. There is nothing like palace in this hotel. It is an OK property, I do not know why are they charging Rs. 100/- entry fee for showing this so called palace.
One of the most beautiful and calm place that it would ignite your urge to visit it again and again. Delicious food, reasonably priced, courteous staff, tody place.best part is that you pay 100 per person to enter the property.this helps in keeping those time passers away.must visit
First of all you will have to pay one hundred rupees per person for entering the hotel. Only ground floor is open for visitors. There is nothing to see except a big painting a piano and a mosaic art. Inside there is a shop run by tribal department selling tribal clothes. The upper floor is only for hotel guests those who have booked rooms. Restaurant in law is affordable and light snacks are available only.
Chail palace is must visit place for those who all are real explorer.it will give you royal feeling.we visited this during winter near by Christmas in 2013.and that was also my first time experience of snow fall live.they have bookings in palace as well in cottages.cottages are in jungle area so if you are planning to visit in winter please prior booking for palace. We had one night booking in cottage and 2 nights in palace.during snow fall it was horrible.first jungle second minus temp, then light cut off, no power supply, blower etc.next day we move in palace rooms as per prior bookings.it was awesome.cottages are best during mansoon and summer.overall experience was thrilled
I did not stayed but visited with family last week. Totally useless. Fee of rs 100 per head is too much to see nothing. Waste of three hours. All must avoid. Monkeys tease too much. Risky.
A palace in shambles.nothing great to write about.the interiors are so poorly maintained that seems they don't even dust the place everyday.old dusty furniture.bar and restaurant looked so shabby.can be avoided.best thing was the park and the view of serenity and peace from there.
They take 100rs per person as entry fee and have nothing worthwhile to see after. The place does have a good view but definitely not worth the money and time.
Must visit place. Beautiful scenic and calm place. Food at the Dining is delicious, (average cost around 500/- per person) . Park in front of palace and Lover's Hill at a walking distance are also must visit. .
Very nice place for family holidays. They have rooms but little overpriced but still u can the luxury as well as resort type experience very close to the nature.
The entire palace is turned into a hotel then why they have opened it for visitors at such a high ticket price of Rs. 100, where u get to see only the corridor of the palace n there is no guide even who cud share the details about the palace? It's NOT worth at all. The garden is ok-ok, IIAS Shimla and Annadale has much better gardens. Worthless place n palace!
Chail Palace: Built in 1891, Chail Palace was owned by Maharaja of Patiala (Maharaja Bhupinder Singh) who created this magnificent beauty after he was banished by the British from Shimla. This place boasts of tennis & badminton courts, elegant & well manicured lawns, breathtaking view of Shimla and is very popular amongst tourists. You can book a room at Chail Palace which is now run by Heritage hotels and enjoy their services like royalty. Entry ticket to the palace is Rs. 100 per head.
This hotel has the best view possible if you stay in Maharaja Room. Rest of the rooms do not have such a great view. Stay either on first floor or ground floor. There is no lift. The temperature here is always at least 3-4 degrees lower than the palace. Hog huts are for relaxation and to laze around. People who just want to do nothing and laze around for a week should opt for Chail as there is nothing much here. The best part of the log huts is that they give you a lot of privacy and one can enjoy nature walks. Don't expect a luxury accommodation but it is decent and clean. At times one may need to use the room heater in the late evenings even during the peak summer months. Food at the palace restaurant is good but the real fun is to make your own in the log hut as each of them have got a small kitchenette, though one has to carry utensils and probably a hot plate. You can have that feeling of camping without being on one. I for sure would return back the next year for another rejuvenating holiday at Chail. The place has a royal touch and it has a great ground to spend leisure time. They have a nice restaurant, bar and another cafe in the ground where you can sip coffee and relax the whole day. Only downside is the monkey menace
Beautiful Palace with a Large Garden. Good to spend an evening. If weather is good, this place is awesome to spend an evening. Only issue is it's little far away and the road is narrow but beautiful
It's a good place. Cafe and restaurants available. Entry fee at gate is 200. Cafe serves machined coffee. Cottages are good. The garden is one of the best place to sit under trees and relax.
If you don't want to eat anything at this place then don't spent 200. Because 90% of the place inside Palace is restricted. If you are staying here, then only you can visit 100% of the area inside Palace.
On the way do not forget to eat chhole kulche in which kulcha is filled with chhole.
Beautiful place to spend time with family or group.i didn't stay but visited with family and friends and enjoy a lot.good for picnic as well.you can enjoy snacks and meal too.
