Christ Church, Kasauli was previously an Anglican church, inaugurated on 24 July 1853. Since 1970 it has been under the auspices of the Church of North India (CNI) in the diocese of Amritsar. The church contains Spanish and Italian imported stained glass windows depicting Christ, Mary, Saint Barnabas and Saint Francis.

It is the oldest church of Himachal Pradesh. Its picturesque structure and scenic beauty attract nature lovers from all across India. Dedicated to St. Francis and St. Barnabas, the present structure of the church was designed in the emblematic Gothic style architecture. Divine services of the church were started on 24 July, 1853, by Chaplain Thomas John Edward Steel, M. A, St. John's College, Cambridge. However, the church was revered as a holy place by Authority of the Bishop of Calcutta in 1857.

Since 1970, the church has been regulated by the Church of North India (CNI), diocese of Amritsar. As soon as the sun shines, its rays enter through the painted mirrors of the church, which are vivid enough to rejuvenate the tourist. The stained glasses are imported from England when the church was built. The tombstones date back to the 1850s and earlier.

Visited the Christ Church. It dates back to 1853 A. D.constructed during the British Rule. It’s peaceful and efforts are being taken to maintain the place.

And best time to visit Kasauli is September when monsoon is at almost over and the hills are fully covered with clouds and foggy pleasant weather ️️ and you should atleast spend a day or two enjoying the site.

The Christ church is a magnificent structure built in the shape of a cross. It is the prime building in the centre of the heritage area of Kasauli town that can be easily spotted nearby Bus station. It is clean, quiet and quaint place located in between the cantonment area of Kasauli (town founded by Britishers).

The Christ Church Kasauli situated close to the bus stand (now it is turned into multi level parking) was constructed by the the British family in 1853 AD, who founded the town of Kasauli itself. The church is a magnificent structure built in the shape of a cross. Set amidst a grove of chestnut and fir trees, the church offers quiet and tranquil atmosphere.
It was only as the Anglican Church till 1970. After being adopted by the authority of the Churches of North India (CNI), its name was changed to the Christ Church.

It's very calming, fortunately when I visited it wasnt crowded, infact we were the only ones there. Located in a beautiful place.

This place is nearby the parking area and at the entrance of Kasauli. It was clean and well maintained church. After seeing the cleanliness and maintenance of the church you wont believe this was built a long ago. You have to put off your shoes before entering to the church. And please beware of monkeys as they can jump on you and can take your eateries of you have any. And there are so many monkeys on the trail so please dont buy anything to feed them.

It’s like a heritage. Britishers made this beautiful church along with a graveyard. After independence India government removed the graveyard from here and open this church for locals and tourists visit. It was very old church which amazed me and from outside it looks splendid.

Everyone who come to Kausali should visit here. This place looks like any movie set. Nothing can be as beautiful as this church. The church is small and quite. This place is amazing for those who want some beautiful shots for their pre wedding albums.

Christ Church in Kasauli hill station of Himachal Pradesh is a really beautiful architecture of the British India times. The Christ Church was said to be established on 25th July, 1853 making it the oldest church in the whole state of Himachal Pradesh. It was established by Chaplain Thomas John Edward Steel who was a graduate from Cambridge. The remarkable architecture of the Church belongs to the Gothic school of style. The paintings on the wall, the carvings everything is very detailed and blows our mind with its incredibility.

The Christ Church is dedicated to St Francis and St Barnabas. The interesting part of the church is the sundial in front. The sundial still shows the time accurately as one stands in front of it and sees the shadow of the sundial falling into the angles of the watch. The statues of Jesus along with Joseph and Mary are quite remarkable too. The stained and painted glass windows create a wondrous illusion as one enters the Christ church on a sunny morning. It is said that all the stained glasses were specially imported from England. On close observation of the graveyard one could understand that most of the tombstone date back to 1850s, which means it was quite popular at that time.

The best time to visit any site in a hill station is the summer time, however, one can also visit it during the winters for gorgeous snow scenery. Hence, it is best to visit between the months of November-May.
