One of my best trek till date. We went unprepared and it gave us extra thrill. Overall must have for trek lovers. Explore it before ropeway, post that it will loose that wilderness.

Churdhar (elevation of 3,647 metres; 11,965 feet) is the highest peak in Sirmour district and is also the highest peak in the outer Himalayas. The peak has a great religious significance for the people of Sirmour, Shimla, Chaupal and Solan of Himachal Pradesh and Dehradun of Uttrakhand.

A long trek of 18 km but it's worth it. For beginners, it's gonna be quite exhausting.

Trek is open from April to November and is around 18 km in length.
There is a temple above main one around 2 km in stetch but these 2 km may take over an hour as there is sharp rise in height.
You have to reach at Noradhar first to start your trek though there is another way there from Chopal comparatively 40-45% shorter than from Noradhar.

At Noradhar one can get dormitory STAY at nominal price of 200 per person as well luxurious room of 5500+ INR.

During trek you will find 3 main padav where you can enjoy Maggi and North Indian food. Night stay and food will cost 300 INR per person at all 3 locations. One can stay at main Churdhar location also with same price.
Government Canteen is available near main location and the food cost is very normal.

Parking is available at Noradhar.
One more parking is available 8 km next to Noradhar and it expect to reduce trek time by 45 minutes, But suggesting to not take that one as your journey will start with a "KHADI CHADHAI".

Trek may take 4.5-10 hours depending on speed and stops.

Travel carefully (better avoid) if it is raining:)

My experience: We started travelling from Chandigarh and reached at noradhar on 10th June 2022 night. We started trekking on 11th of June at 6.50 am.first 2-3 kms of trekking is very steep and you need to have great stamina and energy to cross that.then after that you will see mesmerising views and forget about your worries.we were slow and reached at destination at about 4pm. Nobody told us that there are no hotels available in churdhar. The only option available is dharmshala. We were so tired that there was hardly any energy left for us to trek back to camping site place. That was one of the worst nights i have ever spend in my life because the place was very overcrowded and there is no management at all. Blankets are available but for that you need to wait in the queue for about 2-3 hours. I waited around 2 hours waiting for my turn to get blankets and then as I reached closer all the blankets available are gone and distributed to those who are known to trustees or pandits. In one case they have distributed 40 blankets without any Id because the person was known to pandit ji while the normal rule is 5 blankets on one ID. So we don’t have blankets and now we have to stay in the room (which was even under construction) known as dharmshala room where normally 20 people can sleep but guess what almost 60-70 people are staying in that room and people are fighting with each other to get a space even for sitting. Imagine the scenario where you are sitting in a overcrowded room without any blanket and there is no light (not a single bulb), no windows in the room and it rains heavily outside and you are shivering with cold and wishing that everyone in this room will reach their homes safely. We spend almost all night sitting in that room and wishing that somebody could told us about this earlier so will not face this situation. We stayed all night up and managed to survive that night. I am thankfull to bhole Nath that we reached noradhar back next day after spending a horrible night there.

Suggestion: don’t even in your dreams think about staying at churdhar dharamshala. The best you can do is hire a camp and stay at camping site known as “teesri” which comes on the way to temple (4-5 kms). It is very difficult for you to trekk back to noradhar if you didn’t get full sleep.

Always carry paper soap with you because there are no public toilets available as well.

Always enjoy the full view which comes on the way and forget about your worries because bhole naath will take care of it.

Don’t try to rush to reach the temple as it is not a competition.

Have a safe journey!

I have done this trek with NIM trained climbers when the snow is approximately 6 to 7 feets. During the complete trek at two points we felt like we were at more than 20000 feets. It was snow everywhere and we don't even have navigation system. But fortunately we found locals. They guide us the correct path. We were off the path for 3 kms but later on with the help of local we came back. The trek is full of astonishing views. Between dusri and Teesri there are lot of trees of buransh and in some middle parts you can also find pink buransh which is very rare to be found in these regions. Although the initial phase of trek is very Rocky and its seems very tough but after 3 to 4 km the track is very smooth and almost plane. The next 5 to 6 km of the track is through very dense forest of buransh and devdar trees. After the last spot of rest that that is teeseri terrain is quite good but snow was very heavily deposited so it makes our journey tough for next 5 to 6 km. But the last 2 to 4 km was extremely hard, since we were equipped with the good gears so we managed safe passage. When we reached at top it was so mesmerizing that I can't explain.
This is a moderate trek and good one to finish before tough treks.

We went there in the month of April, 2022. The trek starts from the town of Nohradhar. Best way to go there is from Solan which is on the Shimla-Chandigarh highway.
You can start trek from the Nohradhar itself or go to the parking of another way. Way to the parking is very bad and is not good for cars with low ground clearance. If you choose to go from the parking, make sure you have the proper instruction of the trek starting point. Only its hard to find the starting point otherwise the trek is build by stones till the end. There are 3 stops and you can find refreshments and place to stay at night. They mostly serve tea, maggie, rice with dal. Overall it is approx 18 km long trek. The views make the trip very pleasant.

One of the most memorable treks I've ever done. It's a long trek of 18km from Nohradhar (the base/starting). There are three rest houses on the way. Refreshments and camping facilities available. Start early in the morning to reach the peak. If you cannot make it the same day to the top, you can take rest or stay the night in any of the dhabas (I suggest the third, as the peak is just 6km after that). You can take rest and wake up early the next day, go till the top and come back the same day). Water points are available on the way. Do embark on this trek at least once. Trust me, it'll be a life changing experience. And you would definitely want to come back here. From nov to March all the rest houses remain closed due to heavy snowfall, so go before that. Or else you can take your own camping equipment and trek in the snow at your own responsibility.

THE enchanting Churdhar peak in Sirmaur is one of the highest Peak of Shivalik ranges at a height of 11965 feet. Churdhar, commonly known as Churichandni (Bangle of Snow), is blessed with some of the most spectacular and beautiful landscapes in this region. The view from the summit embraces a vast panorama of lowland tracts towards the south and snow-capped ranges, including the peaks of Badrinath and Kedarnath in the Garhwal region, towards the north. A wealth of herbs and beautiful alpine flora cover these Himalayan slopes. Walking through the wildlife sanctuary, one spots the spectacular monal, Himachal’s state bird, along with koklass and kaleej pheasants. The canine-toothed musk deer and the endangered Himalayan black bear inhabit the higher forests. Below the summit is the deodar-roofed, single-storey, square temple of Srigul with a lingam, dedicated to Shiva (Chooreshwar Mahadev). Pilgrims sing and dance at night during the Navratras fair in this ancient temple.
