Dainkund Peak

It was a short trek of about 2 km. Beautiful views along the way. I think this is the highest peak in and around dalhousie which can be trekked. There is a temple at the top as well which is like a cherry on top.
We went in the last week of January but there was no snow that day. We got to know that there was snow the next day.

Awesome trekking place.quiet and adventurous view.would like to go again n again for trekking.

Magistic view of mount kailaash and 5 rivers with a temple on top which gives soothing vibes.

Best trek one must do while visiting Khajjiar/kalatop or else can plan a day to dainkud if visiting to the region.
It’s a 3 Km trek and nature gives you beautiful way to heaven.

In short, an amazing experience. The trail is paved and stairs are constructed from the very beginning. The Himachal government is finishing up the pavement work till the last meter (temple). The first 10 - 15 minutes are tough and then the trail starts getting easier. The views are stunning and it ends at the Goddess Kali temple. There is a viewpoint at the temple pointing towards mount Kailash.

On the trail, sometimes you will be walking through the clouds. It is recommended to carry a rain jacket and equip with non-skid anklet shoes and good supply of drinkable water.

The trail may not be suitable or very tiring for people with lung or breathing issues but it's worth a try.

At a distance of 17 km from Dalhousie Bus Stand, Dainkund Peak, perched at an altitude of 2755 m, is the highest mountain peak in Dalhousie. This is the most important peak and also a very popular place to visit in Dalhousie. Tourists can enjoy 360° view of the entire valley from this peak.

Dainkund is also a famous place for short trekking near Dalhousie. The name Dainkund is said to have been derived from Dain - Kund, which means Lake of the Witches. It is believed that in old days this mountain was the residence of witches. The sound of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also acquired the name, the singing hill.

This peak has two major attractions; one is the Indian Air Force base and the other is the Pholani Devi temple, which is a temple of great importance. One of the most interesting facts about this temple is that, except a trident there is nothing inside the temple premises. The peak offers a clear view of the flow of the rivers Ravi, Chenab and Beas which flow at the base.

Trekking is the most common path to get to the top and is a beautiful experience, with great views and fresh cool mountain air. Being the highest peak, it gets maximum snowfall during the winter season. The ascent to the Dainkund begins after crossing Lakkar Mandi. About 6 km drive from Lakkar Mandi leads to Indian Air Force Barrier, where the cars are parked. From the end of the motor able road to the temple one has to walk around 3 km of which the first km is very steep. However, this steep stretch of walk is quite safe as the path is made of wide concrete steps.

More than 2km of most beautiful trek and then you reach at the top to this amazing temple and most amazing view you can imagine, over the clouds. A must must must visit place when you are in Dalhousie. You can see mount Kailash also in clear weather.

Superb you shud definitely walk to the top. And see kailesh mani mahesh range. In winter you need a guide to trek to the top.

We visited this place on Ashwin asthami, we get darshan of Kali Mata, Hawan, we get the darshan of Kailash in himachal.

An approximately 2km long hike/trek if yoy wish to go to the view point, and an additional 1 km to the temple at the top. You may want to climb higher from there if you think you can. Clouds come in and you'll find youself inside one. The views from the top are spectacular and its a nice activity to do, though a little strenuous as well.

1300m in steps but the fatigue is gone the moment you reach the peak. Truly unbelievable sights of the nature to cherish and if you can walk more there is pohlani devi temple at same distance from the peak although the path is not as steep and walkable.

Daikund peak is peak point in chamba, specific used by indian air force. But open to public for mata temple. You can drive here by car. Fro the temple gate. There will be 2.5 km long easy trek. Trek is for all the ages (10 to 60 year). There is small condiments shops for eatables. On the top of trek. You can have Mesmerizing views, that will be memorable.

Excellent place; a must visit to trek for those who are not used to trekking. The stone and paved path uphill is full of breathtaking views. You will get amazing view of valley and pine covered mountains. I went in monsoon. The beauty of rain, and clouds dancing on the mountains, and the myst all around, was amazing.

Instead of just going to the first stop go to the Temple ahead.it is actually from where you'll b able to see such serene views and if you've never been to a hilly area before, it would be worthwhile.amazing view just calmly sitting enjoying the view. You can get Maggie here as well.so relax and enjoy the view.it's a normal track for a fit person.could be difficult for others but you still can reach there just the time to visit it will increase.rest no issues enjoy the beauty of the place.

Awesome view from the top. A mandir named MATA PAHLANI MANDIR situated on top. One have to trek about 1.5km frm Dainkund to reach the mandir. The entire path is awesome. The area is under jurisdiction of Indian Air Force.

No parking. Nothing to do their except tracking. There is only a temple to visit nothing else.it is a peak point usually temperature here is less then the other area. You can experience a cool breeze here.

A must go traking, the traking distance its between 2-2.5 km, but trust me all gonna worth it when you reached dainkund mandir.

Its a beautiful temple on the top of a mountain mostly covered in snow during winters. You have to trek around 2kms to reach this heavenly temple. Its around 17 kms from Dalhousie and khajjiar both. You can enjoy little knick knacks at the 3-4 shops around temple.

Must visit, there s a temple on top at 11000 sq ft.it was a worth trek going to this place. Kailash parbat is also visible from this place.

We visited this place in Feb first week at 2021.45 minutes from Dalhousie city and we were fortunate to visit this place after snowfall. Road had snow on both sides and chilly weather (2 degree), parking was not an issue; we had to walk 300 meters to reach the entrance. It has a temple on hill top and there are stairs (in all walk of apprx 2-3 kms) to climb. Hill was covered with snow (carry tracking shoes or take gum shoes on rent {you will get the same at entrance }) and experience I cannot express in word.
No food stalls nearby ; so carry your stuff.
