This is a small rain fed lake in the McLeodganj area. The lake is beautiful with forest surroundings. The water level can get down in the summers, due to dry heat. But it replenishes in rainy season quickly since the area receives good amount of rainfall. The location is easily accessible by road. Not enough parking is available so it is advisable to park elsewhere and walk here. We visited this lake in winters after a night's snowfall and remember that it was completely frozen. Highly recommended.
Just if you have itenary and visiting naddi in that case just give a halt Nothing special, our nearest pond is bigger and cleaner than this I don’t like much
I recently visited Dal Lake in Mcleodganj, hoping for a serene and picturesque experience. Unfortunately, my visit turned out to be quite disappointing due to various factors that have significantly affected the natural beauty and cleanliness of the lake.
One major concern is the excessive construction in and around the lake area. It appears that in an attempt to make the lake more tourist-friendly, numerous structures have been built, resulting in the lake becoming dry and filled with mud and scum. The water, which once used to reflect the surrounding landscape, has been replaced by an unpleasant sight. The foul smell emanating from the lake only adds to the overall disappointment.
Another issue I encountered during my visit was the prevalence of litter left behind by tourists. It was disheartening to see trash scattered throughout the area, including plastic bottles, food wrappers, and other waste. This not only ruins the natural beauty but also poses a threat to the ecosystem and the wildlife that inhabits the lake.
Furthermore, the presence of animals on the streets was another concern. While I understand that Mcleodganj is home to many stray animals, the lack of proper waste management and cleanliness seems to have contributed to the problem of animal waste. I observed animal droppings covering the streets, making it an unpleasant and unhygienic experience for visitors.
Despite these issues, it is important to note that Dal Lake still possesses some remnants of its former charm. The surrounding landscape is picturesque, and the nearby hills offer stunning views. However, the current state of the lake and its surroundings greatly diminishes the overall experience for visitors.
I sincerely hope that the authorities take immediate action to address these concerns and restore the natural beauty of Dal Lake. It is essential to prioritize environmental conservation, cleanliness, and waste management to ensure that this iconic tourist spot can be enjoyed by future generations.
Dal Lake is located in a beautiful place, surrounded with Deodar Trees in Upper Dharamshala. 11kms from Dharamshala, 5 kms from Mcleodganj square point. Naddi is above Dal Lake, 1 km. The place is quiet and calm. The water is clean and green. One can see fishes floating on the surface clearly. Many Tibetans feed them. Its a good place for morning and evening walk. The place is surrounded by temples. Famous Shiva Temple, Durga Ji Temple is opposite to it. I personally love this place, specially during monsoon coz there is enough water in the lake and its lush green with pine trees all around. Winter and summer this lake is mostly dry as it's the man made lake. Best time to Visit it is from June - October. There is a famous Pappu Chat wala and a few dhabahs around for chai and maggi. The place is peaceful and better than the crowded places like Mcleodganj and Bhagsu.
Hardly any water now. Such a nice place neglected by the tourism department? They all drown in their excuses. But the backdrop of conical “christmas trees” is like a picture post card.
Ossm place to visit quite and peaceful too much to explore around got to see peacocks as the other side was forest smal temple around. Lovely place to click photos
Really awesome place to be lost in the nature.it seems that we came in a place where view from every side looks astonishing.would love to be there anytime.
Not much of a lake. The trees around the lake makes the spot beautiful. This is on the way to naddi which is a beautiful village. An auto from McLeodGanj would cost ₹90
Lake was dried out may be because Its winter. Surrounding is good. One can enjoy the view from nearby mountain. Temples near the lake are also peaceful
It's a beautiful lake, I visited Dharamshala in the month of January, that time water was not enough in the lake. The boating has been stopped too. But it gives a beautiful view, the reflection of trees makes it more attractive.
Its a nice place but can be better. I observed it lacked proper maintenance since the water wasn't clean. Also, the surrounding area was also not much clean and had debris all around.
Nice lake in Dharamsala Its nice place clean environment is also their I am happy to visit that place. It gave me the new strength and new vision to live the life after visiting such places where i saw the different kind of person in different kind of conditions Great weather I feel lucky myself that i am good enough to do a alot of things by myself
The place is good. But can be better. The lake has become dirty but because of the surroundings it is worth a visit. Also during winters it is such a wonderful experience to observe the nature.
The backdrop is amazing with alpine forests towering over the lake. The lake itself is quite dull and dusky. It's a small quaint lake with nothing much to do and not a lot to admire.
Dal Lake, Mcleodganj (Himanchal Pradesh) is a small lake which is surrounded by beautiful deodar Trees. The name is taken from the kashmir’s Dal lake may be because of the beauty or the reason it is surrounded by the deodar Tree like in kashmir. It is one of the main tourist spot at mcleodganj. The lake looks more beautiful in the rainy season especially when it is surrounded by the fog. There is a temple of lord shiva near the Lake. There are several food joints near the lake where you can feed your hunger.
#dallake is a small lake at the outskirts of #mcleodganj #dharamshala surrounded by thick woods and it's scenic and soulful place for people to take walk and gain positive vibes and energy. It's is also holy as the lakes is supposed to be naturally born after 1960s when H. H the #dalailama visited the place and slowly this dry place turns into a lake. It is also seen that there used to be a small old Hindu temples submerged next to it and #Durveshwar temple is also standing near the lake. Just above the lake is the #Naddivillage and #tibetanchildrensvillage school and down the lane, #satobari village.
It is most scenic during the monsoon and winter when snowfall occurs and it's also rich with #flora and #fauna for those #naturelovers and #birders
This beautiful Lake is located at Naddi, Himachal Pradesh. This place is very peacefull and happiness giving place. Many tourists visit here to feel the beauty of nature. I also visited this place few days ago. Moreover this lake is covered with greenery and number of trees. There is a road at one side and a view point for tourists.
