Dharohar Cottages

I visited Dharohar cottage with my friends. The home stay is really beautiful and have scenic view, on top of that delicious Himachali food we were served was amazing. Would love to visit the place again.

This was our 2nd visit to Dharohar and it was as good as expected. Very well maintained property, warm hosts and amazing food! We were accompanied by friends this time and they loved it too! We would love to visit again, thank you so much for your hospitality

Amazing stay at Dharohar cottages, even though we stayed there for only one evening, looking forward for a long stay there.
Cottages are neat and clean with clean bathroom, very well designed plenty of space in the property for my 2 yr old kid to play around.
Chef there is amazing, cooks delicious food also you may cook yourself as kitchenette is apt.
Must recommend to anyone whose searching a peaceful stay near Bir- Palampur.

I stayed at Dharohar Cottages for a month recently, and it was a great experience. Here are some of the things I especially appreciated:
- Well-lit, comfortable rooms. The skylights in the upstairs apartment are both practical and charming.
- The view from the balcony. I spent several happy hours in the swing chair, gazing out at the snow-covered peaks.
- Easy (driving) access to Palampur, Bir Billing, and Andretta village.
- Simple, homelike meals cooked in Dharohar’s kitchen and served piping hot in their dining area. In addition, I had my own kitchen in the apartament where I cooked several meals as and when I wanted to.
- Uphill from the cottage, there is a lovely walk, with little traffic, though there are several residences dotting the hillside. It’s safe and quiet.
- Last but not least, the discreet hospitality offered by Munish and his family as well as the staff at the property.

All in all, it was a memorable break for me. I recommend this property if you like to be far from the maddening crowd and prefer a homely environment for your getaway.

I have stayed in this Property (Dharohar-BHUMI). It's a beautiful and nice property just in front of Dhauladhar range. One can experience great views of Himalaya from here. The foods they served us was super yum and authentic Himachali food. If someone is in Palampur or Baijnath then you can definitely consider this property.

Dharohar Swara is a thoughtfully put together homestay nestled in Tashi Jong, near Palampur.
Its a spacious 1 BHK with the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The apartment is done very tastefully with lovely interiors, balconies (one of them with a breath-taking view of the Himalayan mountain range "Dhauladhar”), bathrooms etc and is very hygienic and well maintained. Our stay here was so cozy that we even had a great time just being indoors.
The roof has a Sky-light, lighting up the rooms with natural sunlight. It was wonderful waking up to this and the green surroundings - pleasant change from the concrete we wake up to in cities.
The property looks surreal post dusk with the warm lights, especially the gazebo and garden area.

Munish (The host) and his family are very warm, hospitable, helpful and offer delicious local cuisine on request.
The property also includes a lovely garden where they grow vegetables, herbs and fruits.
Munish also guided us on travel in and around the place; monasteries to visit, local market etc.
It has been a memorable stay at Dharohar Cottages, hoping to return for more someday!

A Fantabulous 5 star experience.

Dharohar Swara being my first Homestay experience was exactly the way I had imagined.

The cottage was superb, cozy with a wonderful view of the Dhauladhar range. Lots of greenery. The staff was courteous. Delicious homemade food️. Lots of space to move around. Vegetable patches around the property. A perfect getaway.

Our host Munish was very helpful suggesting the places we could visit.

Located in the serene area of Tashi Jong this place turned out to be a gem of a find in our quest for the perfect homestay!
Munish has managed to meticulously curate a luxurious and comforting abode, and the efforts put by him to provide the best possible experience for the guests is very evident.
From good quality decor and linen to making sure we had umbrella in the porch before the rains come pouring, the host left no stone unturned to make sure we were spoilt for comfort.
The cottage stands amidst the garden cum fruit orchard of the family, so you are greeted by myriads of happy chirping birds early in the morning, the host would be more than happy to help you out in identifying the species.
The host's family is extremely warm and friendly and always happy to help if one needs something (so grateful to aunty for providing odd tid bits for my daughter's school projects). If you are an animal lover you would be greeted by another dear member of the family, a furball named Oscar, who loves all the attention and petting.
This place is perfect for workcation (great wifi with ample of extensions all over the property) or if you are simply looking for a stay away from the hustle bustle. Most of the touristy places are nearby hence one can easily hire a two wheeler and explore Palampur, Bir, Dharamsala (Munish can help you out with a much more extensive list). Don't forget to take long walks in the village and visit the small cosy cafes of the monasteries!

Where do I start. This place is almost perfect in every aspect. The location, the thoughtfully designed cottages, interiors, the color of the curtains, hangings on the wall, the pinewood furniture, carefully placed power sockets, lights and fans, insect nets on almost every window and door, power backups and buttons with backup marked with green color, the balcony, indoor plants, well stacked kitchenette, quality of the utensils, see through glass panes on the roof, Himalayan slate roof, solar water system and of course the whole farm with different trees and plants, Oscar the cute Shephard dog. If this wasn't enough Munish and his family are the greatest hosts. Home cooked himachali food which is blessed by Aunty's love. The location is amazing in a quaint village called Tashi Jong. Just head out for a walk in any direction and you'll be treated with amazing views. Munish helps out with great suggestions on places to hike and trek. Unfortunately we could only stay for 15 days. We are looking forward to the time when we plan another stay at Dharohar and soak in the beautiful view of dhauladhars from the balcony and get to stay with Munish and his family. If you are looking to stay anywhere in Himachal Dharohar is a no brainer choice. This place is a work of art!

So it almost like 45 days we stayed in Dharohar’s newly built Yahvi cottage. I don’t think words can do justice to the place as well as the host. I call them the super 3 Munish, His mother and father. You never feel that you are away from home. ”Umeed se Jyaada “ is what fits this place hands down, all your needs are taken care of and you can see the amount of energy and thought in building this cottage, and attention to details is what this cottage shouts. He has got the trick up his sleeves so that guest can never complain. If you are worried about the cottage stay be rest assured you cannot get better than this. The location of this place is so good even after booking a another place for 15 days we eventually cancelled that and decided to come back. We just have to get down to the main road and you can get Buses to Paprola which is the main town to get all of your exclusive gourmet stuff, however for your daily need you can just walk 5 min and get whatever is needed.as we were doing our Work from this place it was such a peaceful and serene place that the unnecessary clutter which you experience in the city is completely gone. Just morning and evening walk takes out all your frustration and worries. There are so many small hikes and short trails that even if you spend an year here you wont cover all the tracks.
The host Munish took us to so many amazing spots that we were spell bound looking at the beauty, and he has amazing knowledge of the Place, culture and the food. In all be rest assured if you are having a second thought about the place or the location you will not be disappointed.and also please try their home cooked food I am sure there will be at least one dish which you never tasted (unless you are a Himachali). If you were a bird watcher this place will never disappoint you.
The stay is an experience in itself about the culture, Food, Gardening…as it is rightly named Dharohar.

Me and my wife both senior citizens are frequent travellers visiting unexplored places. Our stay in 'SAWARA' accommodation in Dharohar till 22 September will remain one of our most memorable stay. Dharohar in village Pantehar is hardly 200 meters away from Pathankot-Mandi Highway and is connected with pucca road. 'SWARA' is one bedroom accommodation with fully functional kitchen, two toilets and four balconies surrounded by flower plants and trees. 'SWARA' can accommodate a family of four. Stay in 'SWARA' was a life time experience for us. Bed room and living room of this accommodation is provided with an opening for light with toughened glass ceiling of of 2 ft by 4 ft. We experienced seeing some times lightening, some times stars at night and movement of clouds during day time. Secondly just like Pokhra in Nepal where we specially go to see sunrise, here from our balcony we could experience seeing Dhauladhar Hills in the North shining with sun light where as sun in the east will be seen after half an hour. One can sit in the balcony and watch different shades of clouds all around especially on Dhauladhar Range of Hills. Accommodation suits nature lovers, birds watchers, for doing yoga and meditation. One can cook ones food or there are number of home delivery restaurants for food delivery near by. Milk, vegitables and grocery items are available on a walking distance. There are places of tourist interest like Para Gliding in Bir Billing at 17 kms, ancient Baijnath Temple at 3 Kilometres, Sobha Singh Art Gallery at 11 kilometres and Pottery Training Center also 11 kilometres. One can visit Dharamsala and MacLeod gunj in one day's trip.

Dharohar is owned and managed by Rana Family. Mr Munish who is a soft ware Engineer by profession is himself a nature and animal lover. He is always a call away for your assistance, support or guidance. It appears he has taken lot of pains in selecting each and every item for this property. Very recently Dharohar had started a restaurant in the premises to meet food requirements of the guests.

It took me a few days to be able to write this review because the experience of staying at Dharohar was quite speechless. All I can say is finding this place was a charm and I just didn't want to leave!
Me and my husband were the first set of arrivals in the new unit of the guest house.
The house has 3 sets of living. 2 single room set ups (one small fully equipped kitchen, a room with wardrobe and table, attached washroom, patio with furniture) on ground floor and 1 bhk unit on first floor. We stayed in Yahavi for one month in sept 2021, which is the garden view room on the ground floor.
The room is well thought through and equipped with everything you need for a self sustainable long term stay. There were full living essentials like bedsheets with change, blankets, utensils, fridge, mats and cleaning equipment etc. The washing machine is in common place, next to dining area for everyone's usage.
The basic grocery is available at multiple places within the walking distance.
There are multiple trails near the house. Munish, who is now a friend to us than a host, also took us on a few hikes and spots and needless to say we were just spell bound everytime.
Tashi Jong monastery is some 1 km away, where we would often walk to in the evenings. To have some simple Tibetan food or coffee in the restaurants in the temple complex. While the monasteries were closed due to pandemic, just sitting in the complex and seeing the sun set was beautiful.
Baijnath temple (very understated) is just 10 mins away. Bir is 20 mins away and one can visit for Paragliding and cafe culture. McLeodganj is some one hour away.
Adding in, it didn't feel like we were in a guest house, it was like visiting our friends or family. We made good friends not just with Munish, whose brainchild Dharohar is, but even with uncle aunty, who shared so many stories and anecdotes from the region.
In the last week, the common dining also started and we ate some lip smacking kangari food. A very difficult to find cuisine in market, laden with huge rich heritage.
All in all, if life allows I would visit this place every year for a month to be able to be in touch with nature and living a slow mindful life.
This place is a gem and I hope it remains a shared secret with a few of us.

This was my first solo trip discovering the beautiful Himalayan foothills. And, I must tell you that I can't stop thinking about the view of the Dhauladhar range, fabulous home-made food, the kitchen garden with fresh homegrown herbs and vegetables used in the kitchen daily, and, the smiles of the hosts full of love and warmth. Munish and his parents are lovely and take pride in what they do as hosts at Darohar house. The highlight of my stay at Darohar house was to see the freshest ingredients used for preparing guest meals, aunty sharing recipes like she has her own Himachali cookbook, and recommendations from Munish for traveling to nearby attractions, treks, birdlife in the region, and endless conversations with the family about the journey of life. I really appreciate the host for taking me on a short tour of the Tashi Jong Monastery on the day I arrived. Darohar homestay is located in Pandtehr which is a small village in Himachal Pradesh. I suggest all travelers to enjoy the beautiful views from the homestay itself and just relax there for atleast a day without making any plans of going out.

We had a great time at Dharohar. Probably the best Home stay option in palampur area and we would love to go back there again. Very peaceful location with warm hosts and awesome food makes it one of our most loved places to stay. The place is ideal for people and families looking for a home away from home in peaceful environment with a wonderful view.

One of the best Homestay options around Palampur Bir area. Dharohar is tucked inside the village ; away from main road in middle of the farms which makes it a very peacefull location. The view of Dhauladhar mountains in front makes it an even better choice to stay. The hosts are warm and friendly and served us with delicious Himachali food. All the best guys.
