Hatu Mata Temple is more than a pilgrimage site situated at 3352 meters above sea level in Narkanda, Shimla. People come in great number on the first Sunday of Jyeshtha or June to pay ritual here. The road to Hatu temple is bifurcated from Narkanda and its approx. 6 KM long very steep ascent and one of the dangerous drive or trek to reach the temple. A must Visit place if you Visit narkanda. As we visited on a weekday, there was no one except us. We had a good time.

A must see location in Shimla trip. As it is highest peak of Shimla district. 11152 ft high.live life. Currently to visit here is free no pre booking and fees required

Good place for religious visit as well as for chill outing. Visit in december to february to see snow on hills. Very chilled place.

Precious advice let me share with all visitors that if you want to visit Hatu Mata Mandir then start 5AM in morning otherwise after that you won't get space even on road

The Hatu temple built on the top of the mountain is very beautiful. It is 7 km above Narkanda. You can also go here on foot. The surrounding tall trees, greenery and landscaping make your journey even more beautiful and relaxing. Due to the clouds, its beauty increases even more in the month of June. In the month of June this temple is surrounded by clouds. Cool winds and white clouds flying all around and some rocks make you feel relaxed

Beautiful place to visit, height is way too much, extremely steep, only one way and road is very very rough. If you are a new biker I'd suggest you let someone drive with experience and can deal with fear from height.

Caution: - If you are a new driver or have less experience in hilly area kindlly hire local taxi the road is very narrow

Not many people know this but there is a breathtaking view near Hatu mandir through the jungle. It's an open area with the best combination of fog and cold breeze, you may also find hoses at times.
The best time to find all these are in Oct, just don't get lost in the jungle.

Beautiful and hilly location. Road for temple is rough and tight. Hard to drive for new drivers. But location is really eye catching.

हाटू मंदिर की सड़क नारकंडा से 6 किलोमीटर पहले विभाजित एक रास्ते से होकर जाती है। इस रास्ते मे लंबी खड़ी चढ़ाई और खतरनाक ड्राइव ट्रेक से होते हुए मंदिर तक पहुँचा जा सकता है। चारों ओर देवदार और हारे-भरे पेड़ों से भरा हुआ रास्ता, है।।

Such a holy place.
The temple situated at the top point, and the environment is too clean and peaceful.
Road is not too good, single lane road, Very Uncomfortable, But when you will reach the temple, m sure you will forgot all the problems.

Heavenly and mystical view. Serene atmosphere. Though the approach road is very narrow and steep but it is worth visiting.

Must visit place. It's a temple on 11000 feet.you got a fantastic view from here. Be careful while driving roads are steep and narrow.best take a cab from down.

A road journey 10 km uphill from Narkanda market takes you here. Scenic View point with Hatu Mata temple in premises. Temple is very ancient, Pandavas time, as the people here say. Renovated in 2005, it's now decorated with very good carving of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. A must visit in Narkanda. Road is narrow but the taxi drivers are well-versed with such drives.

Great place to visit. You'll be getting double mental peace there. Temple itself is very neat, very good architecture and great views of valley from peak.

Peppered with apples and oak thickets, the peak preserves an old temple named Hatu temple. It is dedicated to the wife of King Ravana- Mandodari. Hatu peak also fascinates trekkers who start their trek from Narkanda and walk uphill for around 7 KM (one-way) to reach the top.

At an elevation of 3400 m (11,152 ft), the Hatu peak in Narkanda is the second highest peak in the Shimla district.
* Easy motorable road from Shimla to Narkanda with plenty of options for overnight stay in Narkanda.
* Steep, narrow and unmettled road from Narkanda to Hatu so avoid going there in winter & rainy season.
* Don't forget to visit Tani jubbar lake nearby on Thanedar-Kotgarh road, roughly 12 kms from Narkanda.
* On Kotgarh road you can enjoy beautiful scenic views of valley and apple orchards.

This beautiful hilltop temple is dedicated to Mandodari the wife of Ravana. Goddess Kali or Kali Mata is the presiding deity here. It is also believed that Pandavas spent some time here during the period of their Agyatavasa, the final days of their hiding which had to be spent in anonymity. Situated atop the second highest peak of Shimla the Hatu Mata temple is a great place to find peace and solace.

Must place to visit if your are in narkanda, distance is 7 km from main city but road to temple is single line, so if you are not confident with your driving then take a local taxi to reach at top bcz when vehicles are coming from opposite direction it's very difficult to handle on tarrain and single lane road.

I drove on a bike it took me around 25 minutes to reach top while coming down there was traffic jam due to vehicle passing from both side took around 35 minutes to come down.

Once you reach top view mesmerizing, temple is also uniquely built with wooden architecture.

At 3300 meters and 8 km from Narkanda, when you travel through the road surrounded by pine and spruce trees, on top of the hill, is situated an ancient Hatu Mata temple. The peaks offers spectacular view of the entire Himalayan ranges, snow clad mountains and in depths are the dense forests, green fields and apple orchards. On one side are the deep and steep valleys with tall deodar trees forming charming patterns and on the other side you can see rock solid mountains almost pushing you into the valley. With every turn of the road, you feel the sharp ascent and the scenery around you changes. Best view is of course from the top of the Hatu Peak viewpoint. On a clear day, you get a panoramic view of the snow capped Shrikhand Mahadev peaks from here.  Hiking is recommended to reach the peak.

History

According to local belief the famous hatu mata temple is the temple of ‘Mandodari’ wife of ‘Ravna’. People come in great number on the first Sunday of ‘Jeth’ (name of hindi month) to pay ritual here. Goat sacrifice is still in practice near the temple.hat it’s where the Pandavas brothers prepared and cooked their food during their agyaat vaas.

There is a legend, which stems from the Bhagwad Gita, that the Pandavas brothers spent part of their time in exile on the top of this Himalayan mountain. Having gambled away their fortune and wife, they were cast out from their clan for thirteen years. They also had to remain invisible to people for a period of one year. Should that condition be broken they had to spend a further thirteen years in exile (apparently they succeeded). There is a legend that Pandavas spent part of their life during there exile here on Hatu peak. There are two giant stones, shaped like a chullah called “Bheem Chullah” stands as an evidence in the vicinity.

This temple is situated in Narkanda village and the distance of the temple from the main circle of Narkanda is around 8 km. If you want to go to temple then you have to take the road of rampur and just after the main chok of Narkanda there a U turn and a road going straight, the straight road is going for Hatu Mata Temple. This temple is not open for all during the rainy season and during snow season because the road to the temple is very narrow and ony single raod till the temple with almost no barricading towards the valley and at many of places there is no road at all so you must visit only this temple if u are a trained driver or comes up with professional driver for mountains. Also this road is good for small cars because they can easily take turn and side on this road so keep this in ur mind too while going for Hatu Mata Temple. The view over from the peak of mountain are awesome, you can see the Himalayan ridge from the top and can feel the depth of the valley from the top. Its about 3500 meter tall and from the sea level. Main attraction of the temple is the wood work, this temple is totally built up of wood and even the statue of Maa Durga is made up of wood. This place is haven for the adventure seekers and many of bike riders come up here for adventure trip. So its a good place to visit but remind always that don't come up here without trained driver or professional driver and also not into the snow or rainy season. Jai mata Di

Must visit place.

This place lies in the lap of Dhauladhar Mountain range. The roads are in good condition. However the connecting road from main highway to Hatu is narrow and one way i.e only one vehicle can pass at a time.

So if you don't have experience on these roads, hiring a taxi would be an alternative. This would also help local community earn some extra cash.

Great place to visit near Shimla. You need be an experienced driver to reach there else get a local taxi which is a good bargain 500 to 800 depends on season
