If you ever want to visit Shimla, travel another 20-odd kilometres to this beautiful village called Talai. Cold (this village is at an elevation of around 8,000 ft), quiet, serene. Very romantic for couples, and very peaceful for solo travellers (that's what I wanted). If adrenaline rush is what you want, this place is close enough to a lot of hiking trails. What I loved most is the quiet and beautiful lush green valleys surrounded by hills. It is mesmerising. Most importantly, it is still not as commercial or touristy as Shimla, Dharamsala or Manali. So you can actually be a part of life here.

Now, about Aastha Home Stay. If you can or like to cook, there is no better place. If you can't, the Sharmas will overwhelm you with their hospitality. Homelike meals, warm people. Lovely company.

Situated in village Talai, Fagu, district Shimla it is 2400 metres above the sea level. Astha home stay has one of the most unbelievably mesmerising scenic beauty of Shimla. Pristine atmosphere and Panoramic view of the valley from the balconies of Astha is priceless. The family at Astha is very hospitable and helpful. One can relish pure vegetarian local and Indian cuisines.

Aastha Homestay- It truly is a home away from home. In my entire stay not for once did I feel that I was not in my home's comfort. The view from this place is absolutely mesmerizing. When you visit here, you also get to meet a super sweet and loving family. Trust me, getting to know them has been the highlight of my stay. This place offers a chance to experience mountain life in its pure raw form and the little joys of life that are rather missed or ignored in the chaos of our so called sophisticated city life. Home cooked delicious food and soulful chats with the hosts. Its a wholesome experience.
We went there as tourists but we came back knowing that we have a family in Fagu now.

We are truly grateful to the hosts for all the love and care that was showered on us. Will definitely keep visiting this place.

Family is so supportive and they compete the hospitality of 5 star rated hotels.
So lucky to have fresh snowfall, my daughter experienced the lifetime opportunity of snow and adventure in mountains.

If I have just one word to describe our experience in Aastha Homestay, it would be just *surreal*. Nishaji & Sharma ji are the best hosts one can have. They are friendly, warm, considerate & extremely down to earth persons. They take care of all your needs & never make you feel outsiders. They treat you like one of their owns! We could not have asked for more!

Extremely well maintained rooms & amenities. Pretty strong Wi-Fi connectivity, rooms equipped with heaters, wooden interiors to keep you warm in cold chilly nights! Breath Taking view of Himalayas from from your window. An apple orchard at their backyard, where you can spend hours roaming around.

Delicious home-made local cuisines, prepared & served with love & care by Nishaji! Special mention for *Seedu*, a local pahadi breakfast, filled with load of ghee, which made our breakfasts so special!:)

Special mention for Nishaji for her untiring effort to ensure that guests are always comfortable and meets no issues during stay at Aastha! And of-course, we would thank Sharma ji, who did not leave any stones unturned to show us all hidden gems around the hills and local sights!

I went there for three days with my family superb stay wonderful scenic beauty.awesome people outstanding service. I went there in the month of July. It was rainy season and everywhere everything was sooooo charming.
Nisha ji and her husband were very generous. Nd they have a wonderful cook who make awesome mouthwatering food

Let me breaku-up my rating:
Property: if you looking for cozy homely stay, not for luxury. Feeling of pahad.
Nice outdoor sitting arrangements with hanging swing.
Hospitality: host Naresh uncle keep following you untill you are not arrived and guide you. He guides you also for you activities you planned while staying there. However, you better plan by yourself.
Property caretaker and cook Sandeep is very nice and simple person. Also a good cook. You can even cook with him all cook by yourself at all like your home anytime, day or night.
Location: 1/2 we were thinking a higher altitude of this location. But this property is around 2Km from main road of Fagu and it goes downwards. We were expecting more snow here. But there was not. Also, you can do nothing around at walkable distance.
However there is Aganwadi centre nearby (I located it on map). It is abandoned and walkable. You can go there a enjoy nature. Aslo can have a photoshoot there.

Overall: It is your own home and host are you family. This is what you will feel. You can have night out and make maggi omelette anytime at night by yourself. Just relax there.

When the host, Naresh ji told us before our arrival "think as if you have come home", he actually meant it. Wonderful stay with the host's family, who were extremely caring, accommodative, gave us useful tips for sightseeing and provided us wonderful home-cooked food. Hope to visit again.

Excellent homestay which actually feels like your home with delicious food made by Nisha ji. Location is too good as it is situated in apple orchid in the lap of Himalayas. Rooms are properly sanitized. A must visit for everyone.

This Home Stay made my tour better than before and I felt very comfortable there. It was an amazing and very peaceful place. Awesome location, quiet and serene. The beautiful Himalayan landscape unfold in front of the balcony. It is in Talai village, Fagu. It is very isolated from the hustle bustle of city life. You can have peace of mind. There are nearby wonderful treks to explore. The host family is very caring and u get a glimpse of the local way of life. Food prepared by the lady is awesome. A great place to unwind and relax. It is a very safe accommodation.

A homestay in true sense of the word. Mrs and Mr Sharma are most caring hosts; modern, utilitarian and top class infrastructure i.e. Rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. ; scenic beauty all around, et al.
A suggested itinerary -
Day 1 - Start early from Delhi and reach homestay by afternoon. Relax and walk around in apple orchards.
Day 2 - Day trip to Shimla (22 kms). Start after breakfast, park your vehicle near lift in Shimla and enjoy day trip including a walk at the Mall Road, the Ridge, etc. Enjoy delicious south indian meal at Indian Coffee House.
Day 3 - Day trip to Narkanda (45 kms) - Start after breakfast, visit Hatu Peak for amazing views of the Himalaya Peaks, enjoy local fruits en route.
Day 4 - Leisure walks in the village around; visit Bunga Pani (6 kms) an amazing Deodar Forest alongwith a wonderful meadow for picnic (hosts can provide picnic basket on request) ; Tungesh (2.5 kms further).
