Hotel Peterhoff

The staff at the hotel display a lack of professionalism by engaging in gossip about their fellow employees instead of focusing on attending to guests. Despite contacting the reception twice to request assistance in the restaurant, no one showed up. Furthermore, when someone eventually arrived, they did not demonstrate basic courtesy by offering an apology. Considering these experiences, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. It would be more worthwhile to explore alternative accommodations in Shimla. It appears that this particular hotel is heavily influenced by politicians and fails to prioritize the needs and satisfaction of other guests.

Location and view from the hotel is breathtaking. Lush green lawns make it a desired venue for day time events.
Rooms are ages old and not maintained up to the mark.
They serve you with some authentic Himachali delicacies.
"Almond soup"is delicious and a must try.

Rooms are decent but the view infront is marvelous. Polite staff with excellent work experience.

Room service is too good. If anyone visit shimla u might stay in Peterhoff for beautiful service.

Typical govt run hotel. In need of restoration which is on. Some rooms are renovated & decent. Staff is good & so is the food

The room service person directly entered the room without knocking wen we told to bring water. Not good thing to barge into someone's room that too entirely coming inside without permission.

HP Tourism hotel in Shimla. U can stay with your friends and family. Rooms quality is not that much up to the mark.

Hotel Peter Hoff is in prime location but hospitality is poor. Anyone can book from HTPDC, Govt of Himachal Pradesh tourism site. Rooms are well decorated but very stinking. Those who have dust allergy problem may face trouble. Bed cover, pillow cover and blanket cover are provided to us previously used one. Floor carpet is very dirty. So before use need to check. Govt and political party programs are organized here regularly which may hamper the serenity of travelers. Lawn is beautiful and it is used for wedding purpose many times. Daily room rent is about Rs 5000/- per day but breakfast is not included. Food items are very costly here but not delicious. Geyser and room heaters sometimes not working. Please check before use. Telephone in each room is not working to call for room service. Staffs are cooperative. Apparently it looks gorgeous from outside but a poor condition is prevailing inside. Beware of before booking.

One of the most luxurious places in Shimla. This hotel is of VIPs, especially for Politicians. It's CM suites is just wow.

I am from, UttarPradesh. I cam here to attend my friends wedding. It was a pleasant staying at this place in Shimla.
Rooms were beautiful and amazing. We an see the nice view from the room.
I like the viceroy's room too. It feels like I am staying in a palace.

Antique furniture and carpet. View from the hotel is really nice. Friendly staff and very cooperative. My sister's wedding was organised there. Beautiful decoration and delicious food.

If you’re looking for affordable luxury stay in Shimla, this is the place. A beautiful property managed by Himachal tourism department. The main attraction is the lawn in front of the property with a scenic view. The hotel itself is a tourist attraction with historical importance hence you can easily spend one hour roaming inside the property before you start your Shimla sightseeing day!

It's one of the best place in shimla. All u feel is royality.what a garden they have.u will sit and for sure lost in the view.the wide landscape.

How to run an excellent property down to the ground, one should learn from the administrators who ate in charge. Shameful upkeep. Inside it is in ruins.

The Peter Hoff was build in 1800's. After the independence of India the building was served as Punjab high court. It was Peter Hoff where the trial of Nathuram godse took place in 1948-1949. Now the building is serving as State guest house. The garden is also very beautiful and it is located in chaura maidan shimla near by HP State Museum and Indian Institute Of Advance Study.

A good place to see sunset and close by to advance study. When we went there was some construction and repair work was going on. But certainly a good and quite place to have meaningful conversations

A Big Property in Shimla but being a government hotel expect the service from staff with head weight. (which is not good in hospitality industry)

The service and quality as well as sanitization is pathetic. Never ever try to visit this place instead you could visit a dhaba on a highway.

Royal place rebuilt after a fire broke out. The design is how you would expect the British era buildings to be.
The property has a huge lawn with amazing view, and a small open air cafe in the lawn itself.
The rooms are very spacious, with chairs, a table and a desk in the room. They were clean and so were the washrooms.
Staff is courteous, food is good. Nice place to stay a bit away from the hustle bustle of main Shimla market

The location is good, the food is ok and the rooms are below average. The interiors are like some old house where the government does not wish to spend more money to make it better. The old interiors are not intentional, they’re actually old. The shower doesn’t work and the flush also, sometimes. I’d give it 3 stars only because of the friendly staff, good food and good location. I genuinely didn’t like the rooms and maintenance. I think the place can be very better if they want to spend a little more money on new furniture.

An old government hotel / restaurant. I wouldn't go there again. Mostly middle-aged men drinking away. We asked for Himachali food as it was advertised as a restaurant for local cuisine but on reaching there, they told us it's not available. Ordered a drink but most of the good brands were not available. Give it a miss.

Managed by himachal Pradesh tourism this is the best place to stay in shimla.earlier known as Raj Bhavan.of huge historical significance as seven viceroys and governors have lived here during the British rule.and this place has the court room where Nathu Ram Godse's trial was conducted. Even today peterhoff boasts of a president's suite where the contemporary president of India stays during his visits.situated little far from the city centre (around 30 min walk), amidst lovely mountains and scenic beauty it is a treat to the travelers. Averagely priced (don't forget the GST) you will have a royal feel in this hotel.food is good and facilities are comfortable.must try.highly recommended

Food was great and so was the service. It's a beautiful property. Location is a negative point. Other than that, a good experience.

This place is a Himachal Pradesh government hotel and lodging place. It has a beautiful old building and a grand lawn giving a good view of Shimla city. It has a restaurant at the lawn and a restaurant inside. The food is very good and most importantly it's very economical unlike downtown Shimla. It's located very close to the Viceroy Lodge. I suggest you must plan your stay here. Moreover it's centrally located.

A very well maintained hotel. Consists of 3 blocks. Ancient building. Neat and clean, situated on the hill top near Doordarshan tower.
Historical importance. Sources said that some of the trials of Nathu Ram Godse was held here. Sometimes home to Governer during the British rule now transformed into a heritage hotel. Ideal for business conferences, parties, get togethers and other family functions. The hotel has all the necessary infrastructure that is required.

This is an amazing property to stay with your family. Big spacious rooms give you the feel of antique historical architecture. The food is amazing here and staff is also very good and responsive to take care of the guest.we have booked the super deluxe rooms and they were very specious. Usp of this property is easily accessible through your vehicle, they have there own car parking so need to go on a hunt for parking place in shimla.mal road is almost 1.75km from the hotel which is easily accessible by walk and will take 30 min at max!

Worst experience.not at all expected from a HPTDC hotel.we visited on second weekend in December 2018. To my utter shock geysers in the room are not working. Toilet seats are in a pathetic condition. Seat cover of toilet seats are not even opening correctly. Pressure showers in the seat are directionless and having squint. Food to next suprise was really pathetic. Non vegetarian we ordered was so stiff while eating looks like that it was served direct from the deep freezer cooked but so hard to eat. While checkout I was provided with summerised bill. I have to ask for the detailed bill twice then even I was not provided with complete bil.my room numbers are 201,204 and the most pathetic one was 111
