जटोली मंदिर के पीछे मान्यता है कि पौराणिक समय में "भगवान शिव" यहां आए और कुछ समय यहां रहे थे।बाद में एक सिद्ध बाबा "स्वामी कृष्णानंद परमहंस" ने यहां आकर तपस्या की।
उनके मार्गदर्शन और दिशा निर्देश पर ही "जटोली शिव मंदिर" का निर्माण हुआ।
मंदिर में कला और संस्कृति का अनूठा संगम देखने को मिलता है।
भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों के अनुसार यह मंदिर एशिया के सबसे ऊंचे मंदिरों में शामिल है।

The temple is made in typical Southern-Dravidian style architecture and it's height is about 111 feet. It has three consecutive pyramids. The highest pyramid is called Shikhar, second highest pyramid is called Vimana, and the third one which has the least height is called Trishul.

On the northeast corner of the temple, there is a water tank called 'Jal Kund' which is considered as pious as the holy river Ganga. The origin of the water is unknown and the water of this tank is said to have some medicinal qualities that can treat skin diseases. It is suggested that one should carry an empty bottle with them if they want to take this holy water home.
1. Fill your bottle up to the brim from the kund.
2. Do not place the cap until you have the priest put Holy Ash (bhabhut) in it.
3. Take it to the cave to Guru Ji’s charan paduka.
4. After touching the bottle to charan paduka, screw on the cap.
5. It is also instructed that you should never place the bottle on the ground, thereafter.

This ancient temple is also famous for its annual fair, which is conducted during the festival of Mahashivratri.

If you are travelling from Chandigarh side the turn right from T point at solan towards rajgharh road u will reach the destination after 6 to 8 km driving.
U can drive vehicle upto temple parking.

Away from Solan city. Small temple but sphatik shivling are rare so must visit for anyone interested in seeing sphatik shivling. Don't use the indicated path of entry and keep shoes there. Instead take exit path for entry and keep shoes en route there. Ledies toilet is located besides temple which is very clean. Keep someone for lookout as the same can be locked out from outside. Any lady if inside can be afraid. Great view.
