Kheerganga Trek is one of the most popular treks in Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a height of 2950 meters above sea level in the Parvati Valley and it takes you through some beautiful routes. It is one of the best treks in Himachal for beginners as Kheerganga treks do not require any prior trekking experience.
10 सितंबर 2023 4:43
The trek starts from a village called Barshaini and takes you through beautiful landscapes, lush green meadows, dense forests, and several natural hot water springs along the way.

The trek usually takes around 5-6 hours to complete, depending on your pace and the weather conditions.

Food is little expensive up there. Carry cash. Also, do not forget to bring power bank.

This was one of my best trekking experience till now and I'd like to visit again! The hot spring was kinda soul pleasing.

One of the Best trekking place in India for beginners with beautiful views and snow covered mountains
17 दिसंबर 2021 9:13
It was a good trek, just a recommendation that don't trek through tosh as it's full of dust. Traveling through kalga was good. Moderate risky, though the view in day & night was just amazing. Would definitely recommend to travel with friends (avoid family)

It is an fun experience. Moderate trek. For people who haven't trekked before it would be better to first do a few small treks and then come here.

Trekking was fun and adventurous. It only took 5hr to reach there. There was so many things to admire about nature. Treek was good enough but the locals of kheerganga they really sucks. They don't know how to respect tourists. They have ego& rudeness which clearly shows on their faces. Which clearly shows they don't value their tourists.
28 अप्रैल 2021 1:03
The trek is worth the effort as the dip in the hot water spring on top of the mountain is breathtaking. The locals will suggest you to take a guide which is costly but we didn't take one and I'll say you don't actually need one as the trail is almost distinct except at some places where you can ask for directions. We completed the trek in a single day, 7.30 hrs.to be exact (including 30 minutes for the bath) with minimal breaks but most people stay overnight because they have fears of not being able to walk 28 kms in a single day. I'll say it's quite possible, just have a strong will and you'll make it.
All the best.
PS: It is absolutely necessary that you come back before sunset because without a guide the scenic route will turn deadly. Also, beware of the black ice on the route it's extremely slippery and dangerous.
11 अप्रैल 2021 20:05
No need of any guide.its just wastage of money.trek with your own with good shoes.after reaching there bargain for the tent.per person we spent 390 only.for tent and dinner too.if you book online you will waste 1500 to 2000. Try with my advice and have best and cheap trekking ever.
11 अप्रैल 2021 2:16
It's a beautiful hike but on the verge of getting destroyed due to commercialization and people not understanding the delicate and fragile nature of our mountains. Please don't spread waste and help in keeping the place clean and beautiful.
05 अप्रैल 2021 23:25
Kheerganga is a wonderful day trek which ends in a hot water spring on the top of the hill. One can take a bath in the pool by the water spring. Also, tents are available for camping at the top which can be used for overnight stay. The trek takes you through some beautiful forests along the side of the river.
04 अप्रैल 2021 7:08
Amazing place. Please don't go unprepared, ensure yu have proper boots and a walking stick. Downhill climb was a life threating challenge without the boots.
24 मार्च 2021 17:59
Beautiful trek, and its challenging in Winters.
There are three ways to the trek, most popular are via Nakthan and via Kalgha.
It is almost impossible and could be life-threatening via Kalgha during Winters.

Kheerganga trek is a very adventurous and difficult at same time specially when the tracks are covered with black ice (ice covered by mud). There are two paths to reach the top of mountain one is kalga village and the other is nathan Village. According to me kalga village is the best route because in this route you will find forest, waterfalls, ice and also this path is completely covered with trees so you won't get dehydrated because of sun's heat but at same time this route can be difficult for some. Nathan village route is also good but there is very less forest cover on the path so you have to face the Sun's heat, but you will find parvati river, Rudra nag falls (according to believes hindu gods and goddesses take bath here so you should open your shoes before going near to it) and you can also see the lifestyle of local people living in the area. Both the routes join after treking 9 to 10 km approx and from here there is a single route. There are many cafe's at regular intervals in both the routes so don't carry chips packets and don't buy packaged water bottle try to fill a single water bottle either from cafe's or from waterfalls, you can drink directly from these falls water here is very pure and cold. Please bring back all the plastics bottles and wrappers you carry with you don't through them here and there, don't leave anything on the camping site too please
15 मार्च 2021 21:03
If you want a challenge go via the Kalga village route. Else take the Tosh route. Both route you will see the Kheerganga water fall. Please don't litter on the way or at the top. Enjoy the hot springs and camping. Great experience!
13 मार्च 2021 21:55
It was my first ever trek & man o man I loved it so much. You guys should definitely give it a try. The hot water spring at the top of the mountain gonna take away your pain.

Kheerganga is located in Parvati Valley (Kullu Valley). It is one of the last inhabited village in the Parvati valley. 13 kms trek is awesome part.

& Hot Water Spring that takes away all your tiredness. If you love photography, this place is for you.

The Kheerganga Trek - located at a height of about 2950 m, is one of the most well-known trekking destinations in Himachal Pradesh.

Why to trek to Kheerganga?

As the name suggest is Ganga River (the Ganges River) as white as a Kheer (an Indian sweet dish made from milk and rice). The name Kheerganga came due to the milky waters of the river flowing in all its vastness and its streams flowing into Parvati valley from all sides of the mountain.

The hotwater spring located at Kheerganga is an another attraction as it offers body healing characteristics. Compared to other hotwater springs, where the ashes are black in colour, this kund (hotwater spring) has ashes white in colour. Hence, the name is derived: Kheer-Ganga.

Kheerganga is most loved amongst the hippies. This place is notorious for the marijuana that is widely cultivated here which is known as 'hash'.

How to trek to Kheerganga?

There are two routes to Kheerganga both expanding 12kms approximately from the dam:

• Kalga Village route

This route starts from the dam leading to Kalga village. The trek starts with a steep uphill from the dam to reach to Kalga village post which the trek is through the forest saving you from the extreme sunburn. This route is comparatively easier, however, is little risky as you need to cross few waterfalls (frozen during winters leading to black ice formation & heavy water flow during summers). This route joins few kilometres ahead to Rudranag, only where you will find a place to have food.

• Nakthan Village route

This route starts few meters ahead of the dam, at the diversion of Tosh route. You would need to cross the metal bridge to climb uphill to reach Nakthan village. This route is comparatively harder than the Kalga village one. This route is gradual uphill, however, skipping all the risk of waterfalls. You might need a sunscreen if you prefer this route as you will have to face the sun. You will find Mid-way cafe & Rudranag Temple before reaching to the adjoining route.

My first ever trek in India. I don't even have words to explain how amazing it was. Its a 15 km trek one way but its worth while no regrets. The waterfalls, the scenery, the weather just WOW.
05 फरवरी 2020 15:58
Amazing trek through lush green forest. Lots of mind-blowing waterfalls. Also cute dogs which accompany you to the top of the trek.
After being worn out, you relax in the hot water spring.
Simply amazing.

Beautiful place it was and trek of this place is about 4 to 5 hour's from vershaini village. After reaching here, there is hot water spring and Shiva temple. Nice place
Find some pics below.

Awesome trek. Slightly long. Better than triund. More scenic. One should start from barshaini and when you complete it, dont forget to enjoy hot spring bath.
Maintain discipline. Carry water and some chocolates. Drink glucose or other ORAL REHYDRATION SALTS. Take required stops.
Would be great if you start your track by 10 0r 11 in the morning.
01 जनवरी 2020 17:48
One of the best treks I've done. The difficulty level is moderate it is not that tough one can easily do it within 6-7 hours depending upon your speed and stamina.

There are several food outlets along the way which provides delicious Maggi sandwiches and parathas. I would suggest you to stop on the shiv dhaba definitely!

The view at the top is amazing and there's a hot spring too or you can call it a sulphur pool which is very good for the health of your skin and it detoxes you skin which is good for any skin related diseases and also acne.

The food at kheerganga campsites is extremely good and there is a lot variety at the top. I would suggest you to try Israeli food as it's a must try in kasol and kheerganga.

An amazing once in a lifetime experience!
The trek is filled with ups and downs, slippery track, water falls and some of the most memorising views!
The trek is undoubtedly very hard and at various points u'll feel like quiting but the view and place at the top is completely worth it!
One definitely needs to be very careful throughout the trek because it is very narrow and filled with slippery slope and pathway.
Don't forget to carry parachute jackets along with proper trecking shoes and other equipments like torches and gloves.

Best place for spend your time without mobile phone and any internet connection. I think Kheerganga helps you to out from your internet life, there is no communication network or any other network just you and your family, friends and in my word "Real Person". So please visit and find your self in a better way.
03 दिसंबर 2019 12:56
Strictly saying don't go to this place in between mid of december to first week of february. This trek is dangerous for this timeperiod. The right to go there is October and March month. In these you can enjoy there a lot.

Kheerganga trek was a lifetime experience. It has some very beautiful waterfall along the way and it almost rain every evening during the month July and goes on till November and it's that time it starts to snow. It's a moderate trek of 13 km from Barshani / Tosh turn. You can trek solo or with a group of friends. It's always better with friends and if you don't have any then you will surely make some along the way. The people are very friendly and kind. Do carry some water and glucose biscuit to keep you going. And you will find many small cafes along the way to buy some food and please dont throw away your plastic bottles and garbage in the forest try bring back every piece of your garbage back from the trek and dispose it in the village Barshani. You will find many camping sites on kheerganga you can rent one for a night or if you have your own tent you can set it up anywhere (after taking permission from the nearest camp officials)
04 सितंबर 2019 18:36
Kheer ganga trek is little bit difficult for starters
enjoyable trek, up and down with stream of water passing below the trek
we pass hot and cold streams on the way, there are some dhabas cum snacks shoes on the way, if you leave early in the morning than you can return easily, some camps are there along with a srai where you can have breakfast lunch and dinner, views on the way are memorable, specially wooden bridge that is on half of the way, warm water bath on the camping site makes you energized again
25 अगस्त 2019 23:14
Kheerganga is an easy trek but a bit more difficult if compared to Triund. The trek is one of the most amazing trek that you can easily take, its 13,050 feet above the sea level, you will pass through various hot sulphur springs, there are number of small waterfalls that will make you enjoy the nature and beauty. The best time to visit trek for a trip is during the months from March to June. The weather is quite pleasant this time around making it easier for travelers to experience its wilderness.
25 अगस्त 2019 15:57
Time spent with nature is always precious. This Amazing trekk of kheerganga through the snowy way is always cherished. Everyone should do this trekk with friends family or loved ones. You won't regret this trekk.
16 अगस्त 2019 3:00
Great, challenging trail. Lots of breathtaking views enroute. The trek of about 12 km can take from 2 to 6 hrs depending on your fitness. With the parvati river accompanying you most of the way, you can opt to stay at the campsite atop kheerganga before the trek down. There's a refreshing hot spring on the end of the trail, and the final point is a temple just above the spring.
10 अगस्त 2019 21:05
It's a wonderful place and wonderful trek too to reach Kheerganga camping area. Lush green forest, parvati river roaring around the way. One of the best trek and place I have seen ever. Most important the hot spring water bath, it's like natural spa, which remove all the tirenedness. Amazing place
05 अगस्त 2019 12:13
Situated at the extreme end of parvati valley at an altitude of 3050 mt. It is an most exiting and adventurous trek the length of trek almost 11 km. There are two routes one to the left from the dam after barshaini through the nakthan village and 2nd route is from the dam take right to hike up and reach kalga village. This route passes through dense forest and its quite possible for people to lose their way on the trekking path to kheerganga. We choose this route as its very adventurous and we almost lost our path when we going down.but at last we found each other. Once you reach at the top, kheerganga panoramic skies and vast greenery are much needed delight to the your eyes and especially your tired legs. Its a holy place with a hot water spring and small temple of lord shiva.
04 अगस्त 2019 1:12
Kheer Ganga (3050 meters) lies at the extreme end of Parvati valley and the last inhibited village while trekking to pin valley via Pin-Parvati pass. Kheerganga's panoramic skies and vast greenery are a much-needed delight to the trekker's eyes and especially the tired legs. It is a holy place with a hot water spring, a small temple of Lord Shiva and a bathing tank. It makes a rare combination for any trekker to bath in hot spring water when everything is covered by snow.
03 अगस्त 2019 17:35
A 12kms trek. Amazing trek with good path and pleasant scenic views. Also one can see hot springs in between. After reaching to the point, one can stay in the tents and experience the life of mountain people.
03 अगस्त 2019 12:59
It's easy trek but has some dangerous parts especially if it has rained in past 5-6 hours. There are plenty of tents and one can get a good deal. Also there is a Shiv Temple on the top which also is a source point for geothermal hot water, in which one can bath.
27 जुलाई 2019 9:56
Best Trek for beginners, No need to carry your tents as food and accommodation is available there. To reach Kheerganga there are two trails from Barshaini. One is via the village Kalga  and the second is through Shiva Temple  (RudraNag). The route via village Kalga is shorter but steep, slippery & dangerous. We took the other route as we wanted to enjoy the nature and explore the flora without putting our self to the danger of slipping and wet trail.

Tent changes: -
In Peak times (April - mid June) : - 400- 800rs
Sep - Nov: - 200-500

Dharamshala changes: - 200/per night

It was amazing trek experience i had in Kheerganga. I must tell that kheerganga trek is not easy for the beginners. If anyone having a bit of experience about trekking can go for it. There are a lot of steep ups and downs and also this trek was soo risky, if you are not carefully you may got injured. This trek was med-high. I had a lot of enjoyment there. Felt the nature from so close. Had a lot of amazing memories ️.
Dogs are really friendly there. People are so supportive in hilly areas. Overall this trek was amzing and the best timing to start trek is 12-1 pm if anyone is going to have camping at the top.
Try to feel the stars gazing at night. You will be able to see alot of shooting stars there ️
25 जुलाई 2019 4:25
This trek is in Kullu District (HP), without any doubt i can say that this trek is worth experiencing for everyone as this is not a tough trek, yes it is easier but you'll witness how beautiful nature is & the hot water bath, it's just awesome, i would recommend it to everyone as it is not a expensive & difficult trek, anyone who want a break from life & wanna enjoy, they can easily opt for this trek. I had some of my photos posted, you can see how beautiful & mesmerizing it is.
22 जुलाई 2019 4:26
The trek is difficult as compared to triund and kareri trek. The view is mesmerizing. You can easily get camps and tents when you reach final point. There is a hot bath geyser coming from natural sources. A small temple of shiva to meditate and have some peaceful time. Just bring your own water bottles because it is very costly up there. You can carry some biscuits and bread with you.
20 जुलाई 2019 23:04
The trek difficulty is moderate at best. The view from the top is breathtaking. And the natural hot water bath from the hot water springs is just awesome.
20 जुलाई 2019 20:35
One must do this Trek.
Choose the path of jungle for trekking up
And kagra village route for trek down.
You will capture Mesmerizing moments
17 जुलाई 2019 21:28
There is a 12 km hard Trek takes maximum 6 hr. Even slight rain will make the trail slippery. Start the trek very early in the morning.
16 जुलाई 2019 20:26
An easy to moderate trek. I took the kalgs way while Ascent and Nakhtan village on the way to descent. It was an amazing trip. The views from kheerganga top is amazing. Choose your camps wisely in order to get a good view of Mountains. For 3 person the camp is for 500 Rs. Food is pricy that is justified with the available conditions there.
13 जुलाई 2019 19:01
One of the finest and most adventurous trek. As per its name this trek leads to shiva temple (Hindu god Shiv ji) up side at the end of trek. You must have rain coats/good pair of hiking boots if you are planning for trek. Food is little bit costly on the top and mid of trek. There is hot water pound on the top which gives you refreshing energy. Tents available at reasonable prices. Kindly do check food prices before stay.
12 जुलाई 2019 10:06
Kheerganga is an Trek which part of parvati valley especially during winters (as in my case) because of nil crowd and adventure and thrill you face during trekking
It starts from Barshaini so you need to stay at Barshaini and start it in morning because it takes a complete day to cover
It is easy Trek during summers but due to snow and ice in winter become thrilling
Its complete distance is around 14-15 kms
It can be completed via 2 paths one of which is a forest path after half trek (not safe during Winters as told)
At the summit, view is not of much worth but still you learn many things during trek
Small shops come during trekking but it would be better to take your own stuff for trek
At summit, Dhabas/tents and Dharamshala are there for stay; if you want to enjoy with group and do activities like dancing and all, do come in summers (april-september)
Also,
After hard trek, all of your tiredness would be washed away when you take nature's " Hot water bath", it really pays off all your efforts
Dharamshala is much cheaper than Dhabas and tents costing about 200 per person at Max including all things
During trek, find a dog if you can and feed him, it will be of very much help if you are alone especially during Winters
And do not forget to take sticks for winter trek for thrilling trek after halfway
05 जुलाई 2019 16:59
Heavenly experience.mind gets freshened and its a soothing trek.the temple and the hot water spring after the trek is very relaxing.the sight seeing is very very beautiful
01 जुलाई 2019 10:10
Kheerganga is in beautiful settings, but it really is quite full, with many people carrying their own music and speakers. Definitely not a place to hear the forest and connecting with nature is difficult, at best. The hot water spring is nice but also quite full.

However, from Kheerganga one can go across a glacier to buni buni pass and through a beautiful range of connected alpine meadows, with often no people in sight for hours and gorgeous mountains that change with every bend in the roads. Five stars for that route!
12 जून 2019 19:31
It is comparatively a tough trek compared to all other treks in kullu
It has two ways one which goes through jungle and one which passes through the small villages I recommend you going through the jungle way and coming down the other way

Both coming down and going up will require upto 4hrs each if u are a non trekker

The views during the trek are magnificent and impacable the lush green Forest the waterfalls and what not

Take chips and water bottles with you before you start you trek as snacks and water are going to cost you 3 to 4 times what you generally pay

There is a hot spring at kheerganga which will ease you at and remove all you fatigue in a blink

The pain in trek is worth it ️

Do try it once
