हिमाचल प्रदेश में धौलाधर की पहाड़ियों के बीच धर्मशाला के पास स्थित मां कुनाल पत्थरी मंदिर (Kunal Pathri Temple Dharamshala) 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। मान्यता है कि इस स्थल पर मां सती का कपाल गिरा था। जिसके चलते यह मां कपालेश्वरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। मंदिर में मां के कपाल के ऊपर एक बड़ा पत्थर विराजमान है, जिसके चलते इसे मां कुनाल पत्थरी मंदिर भी कहा जाता है। यहां हर साल भारी संख्या में भक्त मां के दर्शन के लिए पहुंचते हैं। यह मंदिर चारों तरफ से चाय के बागान से घिरा हुआ है। धौलाधर की बर्फ से ढकी सफेद पहाड़ियां भी मंदिर से दिखाई देती हैं। जो पर्यटकों के लिए आकर्षण का केंद्र होता है।

पुराणों के अनुसार मां सती को जब अपने पिता प्रजापति दक्ष के घर आयोजित विराट यज्ञ की जानकारी मिलती है, तो वह अकेले ही वहां पहुंच जाती हैं। लेकिन यहां उन्हें अपने पति भगवान शिव के लिए कोई स्थान नहीं दिखाई देता है। जिस पर वह क्रोधित हो उठती हैं और योगाग्नि से खुद को भस्म कर लेती हैं। यह समाचार जब भगवान शिव को मिलता है तो वह अपनी जटा से वीरभद्र को उत्पन्न करते हैं। जो प्रजापति दक्ष के विराट यज्ञ का विध्वंस कर देते हैं। दूसरी तरफ भगवान शिव क्रोधित होकर उनकी देह पूरी सृष्टि में लेकर घूमते हैं। उनका क्रोध शांत करने के लिए भगवान विष्णु ने चक्र से माता सती के शरीर के टुकड़े कर दिए। यह टुकड़े धरती पर जहां भी गिरे, वह स्थान शक्तिपीठ कहलाए। कुनाल पत्थरी में मां सती का कपाल गिरा था, इसलिए यहां पर मां के कपाल की पूजा होती है।

पत्थर के पानी का प्रसाद के रूप में होता है वितरण

मां कुनाल पत्थरी मंदिर में मां के कपाल के ऊपर एक पत्थर बना है। जो हमेशा पानी से भरा रहता है। कपाल के ऊपर बने पत्थर में पानी को प्रसाद की तरह बांटा जाता है। अधिकतर श्रद्धालु बीमारी के इलाज के लिए भी इस पानी को ले जाते हैं। नवरात्रि के दिनों यहां श्रद्धालुओं की खासी भीड़ उमड़ती है। हालांकि अधिकांश श्रद्धालु हिमाचल प्रदेश के कांगड़ा से होते हैं।

कैसे पहुंचें मां कुनाल पत्थरी मंदिर
यह मंदिर धर्मशाला शहर से 3 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। यहां प्राइवेट टेक्सी से जा सकते हैं। धर्मशाला तक आप सड़क मार्ग से आसानी से पहुंच सकते हैं। अगर आप रेल से यात्रा करते हैं, तो कांगड़ा के निकट ब्रॉड गेज रेलवे स्टेशन तक आ सकते हैं। वहीं कांगड़ा हवाई अड्डा इस मंदिर से 10 किलोमीटर दूर गग्गल में है।

Kunal Pathri is a little known Shakti Peeth in the middle of Dharamshala. The original temple lies however in the Dhauladhar Hills, where you need to trek beyond Triund to reach. If you want to get the blessings of the Devi, you need to complete a visit to both the temples. However, it goes without saying that even the Dharamshala temples is quite neat and clean and gives you a effervescent cultural experience. Kangra is a home to nearly 6 Shakti Peeth including Kunal Pathri and becomes a must visit for Temple connoisseurs like me.

One of the famous and favourite temple for locals. Way to the temple is very nice and view from temple is wonderful. Kangra Tea Garden can be also visited on the way to Temple. Also believed as fulfillment of your wishes. Spending 15-30 minutes will be worth for cleansing of your mind and soul. Enough parking space with basic facilities & small back shops etc are available at this temple.

Kunal Pathri temple is located in the Kunal Pathri town of Dharamsala about 3 kms away from civil lines.

The darshan were peaceful and the pundit here do not insist for any donations which was comforting.

This place so Neat and Clean and most importantly it's Silent and peaceful. I had visited here last time when I went to Dharmshala with my Tour Guide. This place is Old and Beautifully designed. It's situated near tea farms and at a hill top seriously never visited something like this I'll suggest you to definately Come here and Relax!

Mata ka temple with lots of positive energy. View from here is good. Pine tree, orange flowers were around. Also, this place is under renovation to provide more beauty.

Very famous temple in Himachal Pradesh. Known for its versatile developed area. Not far from the Kotwali bazaar, there is a little rock temple dedicated the the local goddess Durga. This is called the Kunal Pathri  (3 Km).  It is 3 km from Dharamshala's Kotwali Bazaar. An almost level walk leads to the temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. Kunal Pathri is a small town near Dharamsala,  located in the Dhauladhar Ranges in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.  The major attraction here is the temple of Mata Kunal Pathri, dedicated to local Goddesses Durga.

First time visited this temple. Has a huge significance in the area. Was suggested by someone to visit, had a great experience. On the way to this temple there are also so many beautiful tea plantations that are also a must visit. Be sure to visit the temple once you are in or near dharamshala.

Modest, but colourful Temple. The entrance to the main temple is colourfully painted. One day of the week the temple offers free Langar (lunch) to devotees. The temple is surrounded by Forests and it is beautiful. There are lovely Tea Gardens leading up to the temple. These Tea Gardens are a popular tourist attraction.

It's very good place with a eye-catching view. The temple is quiet good with all type of facilities (like water, toilets, shops etc). All I say it's a very peaceful place.
