The Temple of Shri Naina Devi Ji is situated on a hilltop, base of which also has samadhi of bhagat Jeona Morh who died in 12th century, in the Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh, India. The temple is connected with National Highway No. 21. The temple at the top of the hill can be reached via road (that curves round the hill up to a certain point) and then by concrete steps (that finally reach the top). There is also a cable car facility that moves pilgrims from the base of the hill all the way to the top.

The hills of Naina Devi overlook the Gobind Sagar lake. The lake was created by the Bhakra-Nangal Dam.

Several stories are associated with the establishment of the temple.

According to legends and also written in Veds and Purans, Goddess Sati burnt herself alive in Yagna, which distressed Lord Shiva. He picked the body of Sati on his shoulder and started his Tandava dance. This horrified all deities in the heaven as this could lead to holocaust. This urged Lord Vishnu to unleash his Chakra that cut the Sati’s body into 51 pieces. Shri Naina Devi Temple is the place where eyes of Goddess Sati fell down.

Naina Devi temple is situated at a distance of around 22 km from Shri Anandpur sahib Railway Station. It's one among 52 Shaktipeeth of Goddess Parvati where her eyes were fallen. It's almost hilly area with zig zag beautiful wide road. From the base of Naina Devi town, the temple is at a distance of around 4 km single moterable road. Four wheeler reach there easily. Then a small climbing up to the Temple. The temple is small but with great effect and average crowd on normal week days. One can buy Prasad etc and go for darshan. The temple is under govt administration, nobody asks for any offerings. Apart from religious view, the place is highly rich in natural beauty and pollution free range.
Famous Bhakhra dam is just 18 km from naina Devi along Gobindsagar lake. People are good. Generally you can hire taxi from Anandpur sahib if you are not travelling in your own vehicle.

Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple is one of the most prominent places of worship in Himachal Pradesh and is dedicated to Goddess Sati, who was an incarnation of Goddess Durga.

नैना देवी धार्मिक स्थान है। यह हिमांचल प्रदेश में पड़ता है। आनंदपुर साहिब से 20 किलोमीटर है। पहाड़ी रास्ता है लेकिन सड़कें चौड़ी है, आराम से गाड़ी ऊपर तक जा सकती है। गाड़ी पार्किंग की जगह है, वही से ऊपर सीढिया जाती है आप या तो 761 सीढिया चढ़ के भी जा सकते है या फिर उड़नखटोले का इस्तेमाल कर सकते है। आराम से माता के 51 पीठो में से एक पीठ के दर्शन करें। मा सब की मुरादे पूरी करती है, आपलोगो की भी करेगी। जय माता दी।

दक्ष यज्ञ में भगवान शिव के अपमान से क्षुब्ध माता सती ने स्वयं की देह योगाग्नि द्वारा भस्म कर देने के उपरांत भगवान शिव उन्मत्त होकर माता सती के शरीर को कंधे पर रखकर समस्त आकाश मार्ग में विचरण करने लगे यह देख कर भयभीत देवताओं की प्रार्थना पर भगवान श्री विष्णु ने सुदर्शन चक्र द्वारा सती माता के मृत देह के 51 टुकड़े किये वे टुकड़े विभिन्न पर्वत शिखरों पर गिरे इस तरह इस पर्वत पर माता के शरीर की आँखें गिरी इस तरह यहां पर श्री नैना देवी के रूप में माता का सिद्धपीठ प्रसिद्ध हुआ । इसी स्थान पर माँ श्री दुर्गा जी ने महिषासुर का वध किया । इस पावन सिद्ध पीठ की यज्ञशाला में गुरु गोविंद सिंह जी ने भी मुगलों पर विजय हेतु माता का यज्ञ किया था ।

मां श्री नैना देवी जी चरणों में सतुलुज नदी पर विहंगम गोविंद सागर झील का दृश्य एवं माता की नैना देवी रूप में पावन पिंडियों के दर्शन मन असीम आत्मानंद की अनुभूति कराते हैं । माता के मंदिर में हजारों वर्ष पुराना पीपल का वृक्ष के भी आलौकिक दर्शन हैं। प्रत्यक्ष दर्शियों के अनुसार ज्वालामुखी माता नैना देवी जी मिलने आती हैं तो तो इस पीपल वृक्ष के हर पत्ते पर जोत प्रकट हो जाती हैं ।

माता नैना देवी के ऊंचे पर्वत शिखर से दूर पहाड़ियों एवं घाटियों, व हिमाचल के मनोहर गांवों के अद्भुत दृश्यवाली देखने से मन रोमांचित हो उठता है । यहां पर ठहरने एवं भोजन हेतु व्यक्तिगत गेस्ट हाउस उपलब्ध हैं । मन्दिर तक कार चली जाती है ।

यहां पर रोपवे में बैठकर भी माता के मंदिर तक विशाल गोविंद सागर झील के नजारे लेते हुए दर्शनों को पहुंचा जाता है । और सबसे बड़ी बात यह है यहां पर आने वाले दर्शनार्थियों की माँ श्री नैना देवी जी झोली जरूर भरती हैं । बस श्रद्धा और विश्वास के साथ यहां आने देर भर है । प्रेम से बोलें जय श्री नैना मैया की ।

Naina Devi is one of best Hindu temple, its located in Himachal (Bilaspur) but here religion not a matter.all devotee can workship Godess and Godess will bless each and everyone, must visit, highly rocommandation.

Summer is not a season to go there. The hills are fine, even a regular driver can drive there easily. The place is situated in top of the hill. It also has a rope way. Actually speaking ropeway is much better than the road. Must visit place. Best in rainy season.

Naina Devi temple is situated at hill top in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. One can reach here by road, which is most convenient. Nearest airport is Chandigarh and nearest railway station is Anandpur Sahib. Aged people should take services of rope way as there are around 2000 steep stairs to reach sanctum sanctorum.
