Meena Bagh Shimla

Fantastic property in Shimla. If you are a group or couples - this property with Himachali aesthetics will leave you pampered and full of memories. It has rustic, Himachali decor - the bathrooms are clean and beautiful. This property also has its own very popular cafe - Cafe Khoblu where you can go and sample delicious Himachali, Chinese and continental food.

MeenaBagh has my heart. From traditional Himachali architecture to permaculture farm and the cutest farm animals- MeenaBagh Ratnari offers everything under one roof.
The newly built Doghri unit is an absolute stunner, from the standalone bathtubs, to brass toilet fittings to the glass windows & rooftop everything is just mesmerizing! You cannot miss this place if you're looking for a quiet getaway in the hills. That too in the middle of an apple orchard;)

Deceptively marketed; Exorbitantly Priced

We booked their 'Dogri' room for 3N/4D. We'd wanted to book for 2N/3D but they refused to take the booking on the pretext that snowfall was predicted, so they wouldn't let go of 1N booking. But when we visited the property, we didn't see many people. They'd even given away single rooms in their villa at half the price at which we booked. Commercial interest supersedes guests' interests.

The property is about 70/90km from Shimla in a small village Ratnari. There are no shops nearby to buy basic things like milk/biscuit etc (ofcourse their insta page won't say this). Once in their 'Dogri' you're on yourself. Farm activities are highly seasonal, and exist more to attract customers, than for its own sake. The observatory needs a prior booking (at extra cost!) for someone to come from Chandigarh and operate it. You can only spend so much time with ducks/chicken/rabbits/dog/cats.

Food is excellent, but expensive. And you're totally dependent on them for food. Architecture is beautiful, rooms are cosy. Staff is very courteous, and leaves no stone unturned to make you feel home.

They're heavily marketing themselves on Insta, and the pictures you see there (of snow/trees/animals/etc) don't necessarily depict the current situation there. So good to use your judgement here.

All in all, we believe it was a giant leap to visit Meena Bagh all the way from Bangalore at these prices. Not visiting again, not recommending anyone. Maybe a good for a one/two day excursion from Delhi/Chandigarh.

Located in Sanjauli Shimla engine ghar road. The parking facility is not there. You have to park your vehicle in private parking located about 50m from the place. The prices are on the higher side. The rooms were beautiful and cozy. Staff behaviour wasn't great

Place is pretty cozy if you looking for home stay. But make sure you have chose the right room they have several rooms which starts from 6000 on different sites. We booked the room the goibibo and when we reached there the room which was offered to was very small and congested it had no balcony and window no view. We had booked the room for around 3000 and we were really not happy with the room which was shown on the website and what we got in real. So we contacted the owner and asked for the better room which was shown on the booking site. They told us that the 3000 room is the budget room. For upgrade we have to pay for the room, the room shown in pictures is the upgraded one which costed us around 6000. It has adjoining small balcony and walking space in the room apart from it, it had one lobby and attached kitchen for the access. Which was quite good and comfortable. With the paid upgraded version we were happy. The lobby and kitchen had three rooms connected which can be shared (the common lobby). The service was on point the host for the day was Mr. Dev who was very generous and took care of our needs very well. Coming to the food they have a kitchen for the guests and kitchen menu that they share on WhatsApp you have to order them our menu on WhatsApp and they will prepare it accordingly. There is time constraint for the order last order you can put for dinner is around 8: 30 and they will serve you accordingly. Coming to the food, the dinner we ordered kadai paneer, special meena dal, roti and veg pulao. Pulao and paneer was mouth watering and dal was also good.
In the morning we have ordered stuffed paranthas with curd and butter it was wholesome and homemade feel overall we had great experience and lovely stay. Apart from the room booking confusion thing everything else was lovely.
Would i recommend you going there - yes
But make sure which room you have booked.
Food- on point
Service and hospitality- upto the mark all thanks to mr Dev.

Budget room is absolute value for money.
Food is great quality.
Service is great.

We have just completed our stay at Meena Bagh Shimla. Must say, this is a beautiful and very unique property. Pictures don't do justice to the actual beauty and comfort. The food is excellent and the staff here is very courteous, humble and helpful. I will surely visit again.

"Keep evidence of all your communication with the management otherwise they will always blame you".

- Apparently, the rule of thumb is, only pay by cash or gpay, no credit card is allowed even though we spoke with Ms. Smriti who is the manager there. Then the Manager will say, "my property, my rules".
- If this is how they want to behave with customers, well might as well you should not accept a down payment and harass our family on vacation after they have reached there.
- Smriti constantly records our conversations and then tries to play victim card. Our biggest mistake was we trusted them and made the payment without recording our conversation (she duly taught us this art), when she said on phone that we can pay balance by credit card, only to get screwed later.
- One of their staff member, someone named basraj said, "are you paying us or checking out tomorrow". As a matter of fact he is a regular staff member who speaks with their customers directly in this manner which proved the level of responsibility and professionalism this management adheres to.
- This hotel charges Rs. 9500 for a room with hospitality worst than a street guest house.
- Smriti needs to understand that there are options in Shimla, but with this attitude your hotel will always have instant availability even during peak season.

Find your perfect Himachal stay.
I had the pleasure to stay in this wonderful place. Rooms are super cozy, bathrooms are spotelss clean but what's stands this place out is the interiors, traditional Himachali touch can seen everywhere, small details goes in while designing this each rooms. If possible book the bigger room which has view of the valley. If this is not enough staff makes you feel home, also the food which not only fills your belly but also your soul. Cherry on the top is its location, Which is right next to the bus station. 5 stars for everything.

Awesome place. You will forget everything as soon you enter this cottage. View from room is also very good.

Its a beautiful property️ 'MUST STAY'. It has all the rustic and charming interior, very beautifully designed. Right from the entrance it gives a very positive, relaxing and totally satisfied vibe, I totally recommend this place, do plan a good one week stay at Shimla with this property and enjoy both the nature and the services Meena Bagh offers. ️

Very bad services. They are unprofessional and rude. Due to small stairs, I fell down and twisted my ankle. So we cancelled our booking for the next day. The staff was very rude with us and told us to check out despite of the fact that we had done the full payment. Also the budget rooms are very small with no light. Had a very bad experience and will not recommend to anyone.

Artsy walls and stories everywhere, Meenabagh is the perfect blend of a homelike luxury stay. It's the closest you can get to a Himachali stay in Shimla, and the service is wonderful! Overlooking the beautiful mountains and offering great food, the place is so comfortable and I totally loved my time here. Spent some quality time amongst the wonderful aesthetics they had to offer - one of my best stays so far in Himachal:)

Rooma are ok but no place to move in pthis shimla property, you will be stuck to your room only plus Staff and owner all running the hotel business, no concerns with problem faced by customer, no sympathy whatsoever

We had an amazing stay and this place has a pleasant ambiance. The very common thing in winter is room heater and they provided us a big and good one for all rooms at no extra cost. The room service was excellent and we were amazed by the all staffs who worked there. The one constraint is bath tub after use it gave us an bad smell and uncontrollable. Highly recommend this place who are looking for a family and pleasant stay.

Cosy rooms, friendly staff and excellent food! Heated bathroom floor is the most underrated thing here!

Sanjauli is not more than ten minutes away from Mall Road and is more peaceful than central Shimla.

Perfect place for designers, artist, nature lovers and that every person who is in love with colors, decor, science and peace.
Everything here is designed so creatively giving very warm and pleasent ambience.
I really appreciate the designing skills including detailing of every space and corner, conservation efforts taken in every aspect and architectural elements to keep the space warm, environment friendly.

We had a great stay at meena bagh. I would like to recommend it completely!
Our caretaker Dev was really sweet and provided the best of services. From interiors to food everything was perfect.
One thing would like to add is in pahadi cabin there should be a door provided to completely seclude the area or make it more private.

Beautifully built property, with lots of wood work. Perfect place to go in chilly winter of shimla sip a cup of coffee but from service point of view its below average. For the price they are charging we expect at least good service if not great. The place has bedding for 9, earlier we booked for 6 but at the time of booking we are dicey about 9 also. The conversation with the owner was not polite.
Further it is irritating to hear 4-5 times that shouting or making noise is not allowed. I mean I understand he might have had experiences with stag groups about noise but I told we were travelling with a 80 yr old adult and he is more disciplined than anyone I know. Nothing wrong In informing but don't intimate like 4-5 times its irritating.
Further service is soooooo much slow. They say they cook food fresh but still damn don't take 2.5 hrs to cook dinner where half of the family has to wake up to have dinner.
At last, not worth the price. Amazingly beautiful property, bad service and bar location. Not a repeatable property.

It's far from shimla. Altleat 20 minutes. You can't stop out because there is a bus stand right outside. The view is of the town Sanjauli all buildings and debris of construction. Not worth the time

Wonderful stay at the Pahadi Cabin room in Meen Bagh, Shimla. All 3 of the rooms in the cabin with their individual bathrooms were spacious and decorated well. The best decorated part was the living room. This type of room is well suited for large families who need a place to catch up, with with its wooden interior and kitschy decor, it provides wonderfully. The food is simple- mostly Indian and Chinese but it is very tasty and well prepared. The best asset of this hotel is it's helpful and friendly staff. Two in particular- Mr. Ranjit and Mr. Deshraj were absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful.
We were staying with my pet dog (hotel is pet friendly!) and the staff were even ready to cater to his needs! The food was made fresh and served readily. Both the staff provided for everything we could need with a smile on their face.
Only suggestion can be that the food items can be expanded to continental and chinese dishes as well.
The only drawback is the location. Despite the large rooms, the area in the hotel is very small and crampt and is located in a busy part of town.
However all in all, an appropriate place for a quick getaway with its cozy cabins and rooms, wonderful staff, pet friendliness and yummy food. Recommended for families.

Drastically opposite from Meena Bagh Ratnari.
Terrible service. There is a pool table, but we were asked not to play cause it may disturb others. Out of the four rooms we booked one was outside the house (like a drivers room). The otside room had a wood ply door qith only one lachet, which I could have broken with a push. Bathroom locks were broken/damaged of 2 rooms.

Everything else is exactly like the photos. Drawing room was nice.

Rather book yourself a 1k room.

However their other property (Ratnari) was fantastic.

The Main Cottage has the best set-up. We were kind enough to be upgraded to the Main Cottage, which has dedicated bathrooms for each room. The kitchen is also great. Breakfasts were really delicious, bed comfortable & the fittings funky! Room & bathroom were very clean & the staff were extremely polite & helpful.and After a very long day of driving it was a delight to arrive at this beautiful place. Deshraj was waiting at the road for us and the staff cooked us a delicious meal at short notice, thank you

Staff is polite unlike the other hotels we stayed at Himachal Pradesh. Ambience is great. Food is good. Hospitality is excellent. Highly recommended to stay if u happen to visit Shimla.

We had a wonderful stay in Pahari Cabin, one of the properties of Meenabagh resort. The ambiance, food everything was just amazing and I would definitely recommend to others. The guy named Dev was extremely helpful and entertained us pretty nicely.
