At a distance of 21.5 km from Manali Bus Stand, 23.5 km from Kullu, 1.5 km from Naggar Castle, The Nicholas Roerich Museum is one of the prominent museums in and around Manali.

Nicholas Roerich is a Russian artist arrived in the Himalayas after the revolution of 1917, where he died in the year 1947. He married to Helena Roerich and famous Indian actor Devika Rani is his daughter in law.

The Nicholas Roerich art gallery was founded in 1962 by Svyetoslav Roerich, son of Nicholas Roerich. The building that now houses the gallery once served as the residence of Nicholas Roerich. Himachal Pradesh Government and Russian Government have formed a trust to run this art gallery as the Roerich Heritage Museum.
Paintings of Kullu, Spiti and Lahaul made by the painter have been housed in the ground floor of the gallery. A great number of his works are preserved in museums all over the world. Most of the paintings show the beauty of ice covered valleys and peaks during early hours of evening.

A magnificent place, I liked the estate located on the side of the mountain, planted with many different trees, bushes, herbs, fruit trees and architectural structures
Came a couple of hours before closing, there was no queue
Deeply plunged into the atmosphere of the Roerich family

Nicholas Roerich was one of the great Russian artists. It so happened that in India, namely here in Naggar, he stayed forever.
The art gallery was created in his house, where he lived and worked.
If you are a lover of art, history and a true patriot of Russia, then this place is a must-see.
There is also a museum of science and culture of the Roerichs. Near the garden, the view from which is simply divine, below Naggar, around the mountain in the clouds.

Art gallery housed in the estate of the late Nicholas Roerich, renowned Russian painter & artist.
The medium sized wooden stone building set in a high hill near Naggar, is worth a visit. It houses a range of paintings done in cardboard on the ground floor & showcases the living quarters of the Roerich family on the first floor.

It's a place to be if you are interested in art. His art is from a different age and of different view point. I was taken aback by how cohesive was his work on Nagar village. Not a single straight house still the whole village looked vibrant and beautiful. It's pretty well maintained by the trust, there's always room for improvement.the garden is well maintained.
Even the mandir has old statues ones we don't see so often these days.
If nothing else view of the mountains from the place is breathtaking. The air is so fresh you would just like to sit and enjoy there.

Nothing to rave about. Only good thing to write home about. 1- the surrounding 2- Approach road. Rest everything is ordinary.
1. We reached there just before their closing time. They were not allowing us in, though we had bought the tickets. On pleading they allowed us in. They were supposed to open Devika Rani's display room at 1.30. Did not because the lady in charge left without handing over the key to somebody. With the result we left without seeing the display room at 1.45pm!
2. Urinals are smelly. Though entry fees are charged for the upkeep, this place of prime importance is neglected.
3. Items kept on display are not labelled. For eg a grinder mixer like thing is kept outside without any name or title. Nobody there to explain. Lady selling tickets for patrons clicking pics does not know a thing.
So my opinion is climbing so high and not finding what is on display speaks volume about it's upkeep.

Really good place. You can observe the house of the Nicholas through windows. Ticket is Rs 50 for art gallery and Rs 30 for watching paintings at museum. You are not allowed to take pictures inside the art gallery.

This place is so awesome just for how secluded it is from the noise of the real world. We visited this place on a Misty rainy day and it just added beauty to this hidden gem. We got to learn about Roerich and his contributions, along with the museum close by, this was a treat and a perfect way to spend some calm and nice time!
