Loved my stay here - amazing host and staff, beautiful garden and social/lounging area, quiet location near the main streets of old Manali, clean and comfy rooms
We stayed at the hotel and had a great time! The rooms are spacious and pleasant. A stunning view, and pastoral silence. The atmosphere in the hotel is very fun and family friendly. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, with room service at almost any hour of the day. The location is a bit far from the road which gives the peace and privacy. Beit Chaved is very close by, about a ten minute walk Highly recommended for individuals, couples and families I have no doubt that next vacation we will choose the place again.
Experience the magic of Orchards House, where the Hidden Tribe thrives in a hidden paradise. Discover their traditions, cuisine, crafts, and spirituality. Immerse yourself in nature's wonders and leave with unforgettable memories of this enchanting wonderland.
Fantastic place tucked away in the Old Manali village, both conveniently close to the market and peacefully away from the crowds. Friendly atmosphere all around (especially in the common area). Varun and Chitra were great hosts! Definitely visiting again.:)
Had one of my best hostel experiences here. Absolutely loved the place from the minute I walked in. The management and staff are super friendly and the guests in rotation whilst I was staying were all lovely. Vibe check Also the rooms I stayed in were all clean and well kept. If you're staying in Manali you have to come here, best hostel experience for me in India.
Had very nice experience staying here. The staff was very cooperative and friendly. They fulfilled all the requests that we asked for. The veiw was also very lovely. The manager was ready to solve any issue anytime. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The manager was very helpful.
Best 2 days spent in manali in this hotel. The staff behaviour was very very good and friendly. Every service we asked was fulfilled. Everything was perfect. Must recommend to visit here.
I spent 3 days at this place with the goal of a peaceful workation in mind. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and plan to revisit.
The attick room was well maintained and furnished. Staff was polite and food was good.
Place is also close a bunch of cafes in old Manali, so it is easy to reach and at a good proximity to Food/Drinks
Host was very receptive and kept things happening at the common room while still maintaining privacy at your own room. Visitors were a mixed bunch of families, couples, bachelor's and multinational crowd.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the owners Varun and Chitra were very cool & amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Manali.
Excellent host, guided us for every type of thing about the city and great vibe with jamming sessions and bonfire and instruments we could play and books we could read
A really nice hostel with great hosts and great food, really good location also in old Manali. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend to other travellers!
It’s a little bit walk from the road but it’s fully worth it! I reached late night while travelling alone but staff helped me with directions and even offered to send someone to show you the way. Once I woke up and saw the view it was fully worth the effort! There are many shortcuts depending on where you want to go. Visiting again soon!
Just once visit orchard house when you visit Manali, you will meet Varun bhaiya he will make sure your stay is comfortable and there are soo many games you can play in hostel like dart, mafiya etc.
Visited last week. Snowfall was amazing! Place looks different in different weathers! Common area was a fun place to sit on evenings. Chitra was very helpful with things to do in Manali.:)
I initially booked this place to stay for a week and here I am writing the review almost a month later!: D Comfortable bed, quiet atmosphere surrounded by greenery, a little bit away from the busy street yet accessible and great hospitality, what else can one ask for! Special shout-out to Aman, Shashank and Varun for always being welcoming, warm and helpful. The food at the in-house cafe is quite nice as well. Overall, a great place for travellers to, just be really! Will definitely visit again.
The place is very difficult to find, and the road reaching it is very dark and unfriendly (especially at night) The cancelation policy is also very strict, as they demand 3 nights payment for cancelation.
I went with a big group of friends and we were travelling by tempo traveller. Before booking this property we enquired and (Varun Sapra) confirmed that tempo can reach to the location. However, that was a big lie, the roads are so narrow and steep that even the Alto car could not reach to the exact location. We had to wait for more than 2 hours just to reach at the location which was 1.2Km away from where we parked our tempo. After several calls and follow ups, stay guys sent a guy to carry our luggage and we refused to give our luggage because the roads were steep and we felt that it was inhuman. Then he arranged for an Alto and we could reach in two trips. Few of us had to even walk to the property.
Just because of all this chaos, our whole evening in old Manali got spoiled. Worst thing that we could not even get good food.we were charged Rs. 4000 for most pathetic food which I have had in long time.
Rooms were not that great, mattress were so bad that we could not sleep properly.
The stay offers an excellent view that will leave you mesmerized. The cleanliness of the property is on point. My favourite part is the staff because they are extremely helpful and forever smiling. Apart from delicious food their cafe has an amazing vibe and you wouldn't feel like leaving the property! A perfect blend of a place to visit with friends, family or solo!
A nice place in middle of old Manali village with a breath taking view. If you are looking for an affordable place with good service and good food than this is place to be. The property has a common space to work or just chill with fellow travelers in night.
1-There is no vehicular connectivity. You might have to walk 600m or 1.2 km with your luggage depending on which route the hotel people try to force you to take through dark and narrow alleys.
2- The owner will tell you anything and everything while booking but he dosent care at all and will not try to help you and his arrogance is an icing on the cake.
We reached the parking spot at around 7-4 5 pm and reached the hotel around 9-45 for 2 hours we were stranded with our luggage with little help from the property manager who continuously kept saying that travellers can come till the main road near to the property.
3- The food is pathetic to say the least. We were charged around 4000 Rs for the portion and quality of food which wasnt close to even a 3rd of the price.
All in all if you are paying this amount of money you can get far better properties and far better services elsewhere.
Cons: Hygiene: Wont complain about average dorms or blankets without any covers or average washrooms coz they were way lesser a pain point for me. My main issue was dog hairs. The common room was engulfed in dog hairs. The sofa seat had dog hairs, the table had dust and dog hairs, etc etc. There were three dogs as I counted and I had to even eat my food in my dorm since they will follow you and your food.
Pros 1. The view is good, but the hostel is located so inside that you will have to trek a lot to reach here. But view and the garden is good. 2. Staff: Aman and rest of the staff was nice, polite and helpful. A major plus point of the hostel is its staff.
Extremely disillusioned by the service and hospitality. “Surely not recommend” this place for families or to any group. We booked this place, despite low-rated comments as our purpose was just to stay for a day. It proved as a mood spoiler for our group consisting of 8 members based on our experience let me highlight a few feedbacks: HOSPITALITY: Being a frequent traveler, this was my first experience where I received no follow-up call from the caretaker/property owner. Moreover, our prior request to provide a designated parking space was also overlooked by the staff and we were misled by them as there was no parking space available uphill. We were forced to drop our traveler downside and after approx. 2 hours the caretaker bothered to send a car to pick us up. It was already too late for us. HYGIENE: The mattress was not comfortable, and no soap was provided in the washroom. The Garden area was beautiful, but it was not properly maintained. It was litter in all corners of the property. FOOD: The food they are offering from their so-called ‘Hidden Tribe’ café was pathetic. Although the food was overpriced and tasteless, we ended up trying all the options available, which gave us the confidence to tell you that you shall bring your own food to this place or they need to change their chef. This pathetic experience cost us around 10.5K.
Reply to The owners revert on the below review is at the end: Firstly giving it 1 star because i cant see option for negative stars.fake promises by the owner (Varun Sapra), wrong locations saying its near to the road, easily accessible and a tempo can easily come near to the hotel from where we can reach within minutes.
Its Peak season and we all know that a tempo cant really enter the Old Manali roads, but he bluntly said tempo can go and its our fault.
Then we were stranded by him from 7pm till 9pm loosing our precious time in which we could have checked out the Old Manali market but thanks to him we couldn't.
The rooms were very dingy especially the one on the first floor, no water bottle in the rooms infact said to get our own bottle for which they will charge and then refill it from an RO which itself is in a bad state.
The Food was the most most disappointing thing of all, we were travelling from 4-5 hours and really hungry and wanted some good food for which we again counted on them but again what we got was the worst, the portions were small, so small that not even 2 could eat it properly, and priced so heavily that in that amount we could have done a lavish dinner in Old Manali market.
The only good thing were the two dogs which helped us keep our mood fine.
DONT BOOK IT!
Reply to your reply Varun:
1.you have 30-40 groups coming via tempo, that's not our fault, the HP police stopped us from entering and you on the other hand kept saying even at that time that our tempo will reach, whose fault it is?
2. Talking about strict no plastic policy we saw how un organized things were and how much plastic was around, so please don't write these lines here for the public, we saw it how our things were in the morning when the daylight came.
3.talking about food orders, we ordered snacks and food but the portion was so small that we had to order more as the portion was literally small for the amount we were mugged, hence we ordered again at 11: 30 not 1am, get your facts right.and we ordered again so that we can have our meals together in one go but that meal was worst of the worst.teach your chefs or so-called chefs to learn the dishes, we were a group of 8 aged 30-32 years old and all of know how to cook, we are no kids sir.
4. Talking about 5mins walk, i guess the locals can but no guest can walk to the main road infact the dhaba walk is almost 10mins, market is beyond that.
5. Talking about carrying our bags, u did brought one alto but till the dhaba from there your guys only carried 5-6 bags that's it, rest all was with us.infact we had just 4 3 suitcases to be precise, 2 rug sacks and rest5-6 small carry bags which we carried for the whole trail in the night and in the morning aswell, and even after all this we tipped your guy who carried our bags because he deserved it
6. And talking about mountains, i myself a filmaker and have been travelling hundreds of time to himachal and i know how old manali works as well, but fake promises from your office in Gurgaon didn't helped us and hence this reply.
7. And most importantly, we didnt booked your place from any site, WE CALLED YOUR PERSONALY and asked you each and everything.so please next time, mention everything to your customer rather than ruining someone's trip.
Heard about this place from couple of friends and decided to book it. Stayed here for a week. They have high speed internet available in all floors. You can get food delivered to you in dorms. House full of dogs and great sitting area make it perfect place to spend your workdays here. Old manali market is 10-15 minutes walk. Book it if you like quiet and calm place away from city noice and don't mind a little walking.
Amazing hosts Varun & Chitra! The vibe of the place is very quaint and cozy. Good parathas for breakfast. Their rooms/dorm options are better than any other hostel around Old Manali. Definitely consider for your next solo/offbeat vacation experience.
If you want cool place with good vibes and staff then, Orchard House is the best. I stayed there for 2 days, Host is very supportive and property is very beautiful and rooms are spacious and you can get delicious food also. Go for it
Orchads, the hidden tribe is recommended space in old Manali. The place itself is calm and peaceful ambiance. It’s worth of money for the rooms, Neat and tidy. Moreover the service is top notch. However, the map isn’t accurate. It’s a bit tricky to find the place but then the people are always available to take us there. Great place and great people.
The place is very much inside the bushes. You will have to carry your luggage all the way to stairs and that path to reach the destination. The place has common area but it's too quiet place that everyone was preferring to sit in their rooms only. So the environment was not happening. It was extremely quiet and alone.however the rooms were budget friendly. So if you are a bagpacker searching a budgeted quiet place to stay you can definitely try this.
The Trip That Could Have Been I haven't stayed here. So don't read on if you looking for a review of the stay. But I just rang up the place to enquire about the amenities, availability, prices etc and the person who picked up the call was extremely reluctant to discuss any details. He kept asking me to check on the internet (thanks, I hadn't thought about that!). He also refused to discuss room details and the prices and told me he was in a hurry to hang up. A customer calls up a place to get a first person confirmation on the details splayed on the web that maybe true or not. I was met with a very unwelcoming attitude, ironical considering it is a hostel for guests to come and stay.
Cool hostel, good vibe, decent chai, beautiful view from second floor. Comfortable dorm beds. I like their concept of two-bhk and one-bhk with kitchen, it's good for large group of friends or family even. I like the common sitting area too next to the main kitchen. Varun, the owner is a very cool and fun guy to get to know as well.

Varan - the manager is the coolest manager I have ever seen. Beautiful property with Apple trees everywhere. Common room was always LIT. Food is really good, especially their chaai, I fell in love with it.
A complete offbeat location. If you need to spend some good time with yourself and the beauty of mountains.
P. S.: Location is a bit away from the city crowd. So, if you're a people pleaser, I would recommend to try some other place. Or not. Maybe this will place will change your mind.
As the name suggests, The Hidden Tribe. This home stay is the Best place to live away from the hustle bustle of Manali. It's situated at a lovely spot, where u can have access to the Serene landscapes and the ancient houses of old Manali along with amazing cafes nearby. It's exactly where you need to be, if you are planning for treks around old Manali (there are plenty). And Of course, the Hospitality. It's way beyond amazing. Varun Bhaiya, the owner himself, makes it feel like home. He will guide you with all do's and don'ts if you are new. The atmosphere, the rooms, the environment, the location everything abt this place is perfect.
Infact, next time if I'm gonna be in Manali, I know where I'll be heading to.
The place is good but the way to the hostel only leads by walking through a long and damp lane. Bunk bed rooms is an addon for a group of friends. The view if not the best, is not too bad, lets say it's avg! Even if you are alone you'll find people to connect with. The host is quite chirpy so you won't be bored, he'll keep you entertained if you don't find anybody or are alone.
The only disappointing thing is the food, which is not worth the price listed in the menu. If you are on budget trip (alone/group) try not to order food here and try out other spots in the town.
(For Hygiene Concious folks: You'll have to ask them persistently to clean the rooms and the bath, change the sheets and towels, they won't bother)
Such a setene place. BTW, varun's hospitality and hiss sense of humour were swag. Loved this place. The view from the balcony, Mann it's awesome. Best place to wake up and enjoy the sunrise.
Goes perfectly with it's name, it's so hidden as it becomes difficult to find it. Moreover, The rural path to the hostel gets covered with snow in winters as a result it becomes weary to get to the main road.
This is one of the best places to stay in manali. Especially for someone looking for reasonable dorm rooms or reasonable double bedrooms. The view fr this place is exquisite, directly facing the peaks. The food too is especially good, the host Varun runs a tight ship around here so while you will have fun, you'll also see what it takes to run a good hostel/stay in the mountains. I had a fantastic experience while I stayed with these folks and would definitely return. Orchards house is nestled in the forest from where you can venture out on foot to experience the true biodiversity of the Himalayas. The place is also close to the main market, a short 5-7 minute walk. You can expect to feel at home in this spacious getaway. Thank you for a beautiful experience folks! Will definitely return again and again.
The place is beatiful and a sight for sore eyes during snowfall. It's in old manali and is near to zostel. The rates are pretty nominal considering you are not there during the peak season when rates across the place skyrockets. The rooms are pretty neat and clean. The 4 sharing dorm has it's own kitchen and attached bathroom. Only issue is that the place is pretty difficult to find keeping true to it's name.
Location is unparalleled though you need to walk more from the main road to reach there. Well decorated and spacious room. But the only problem is they don't have proper chef to provide food.
Amazing stay and great view. Varun is the owner of this place and he's super friendly and cool. The rooms were neat and clean and the whole furniture was wooden. We booked an apartment and it was very spacious. The kitchen outside was delicious. We ordered aloo paratha and it was very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place. It might be a bit away from the main road but definitely worth the trek.
Breathtaking location. The owner of the homestay, Varun is a really good and helpful person. Loved the food. It is located at a walkable distance from mall road. Overall loved the stay there. ️
Mind your language Varun you don't know who you are talking to instead of apologize you blamed me it was your place so you have to understand the problem we faced you should have told us that you have to shut everything down after this time and listen it was not 7 am in morning it was 3am it was only you who wanted to sleep not us whosoever were there all wanted to party and there is a way to stop something you don't like.the way you said it was very rude and threat for us that time if you want I can ask everyone to review about your behavior.
I stayed here for 3 nights and the overall experience was outstanding. Food is just good and the staff is helpful. The place is surrounded by trees, making you sit in the lap of nature.
The hotel is good, they call it a hostel.amazing place comes in budget people there will work for you properly attend to your needs you just have to be a little patient and extremely polite with them.same goes for the owner.at the end amazing place great people. You should book it if you are looking for something affordable and convenient and calm place.
All round favourite hostel in India. Great location, best hostel food and Varun is a friendly guy who always goes the extra mile for his guests. Only warning is that you might get stuck here not wanting to leave! Hope to be back soon, cheers
Guys don't visit even because the food is very expensive and no parkings available and even zomato don't deliver there so they provide us very expensive food and the behaviour of staff is very rude don't visit guys seriously
I meant to say the cook he was so f bad in behaviour felt like kicking him the only thing I liked is the manager of it that's it
Budget place apt for backpackers and bachelor's. Not suitable for family. Bit far from the road and u have to only walk. Even the parking is not beared by the property.
Amazing hostel, amazing host, Rashu is a great guy with who we had a lot of fun, very helpful as well. Thanks for everything, I'll come back during summer for sure!
I think best place in Manali for solo trip, And manager (Rashu brother) is amazing person. He created positive energy in house, 10/10 for hostel culture
The saying 'don't judge a book by this cover' is truly apt for this HIDDEN TRIBE.the walk to this place may seem a little weird especially if your doing it in the night like me. But once you get there, you'll thank god for not giving into your instinct which may have told you to turn around and head to another hostel in the vicinity.
The comfort and feel of this hostel is an experience in itself. And the best part is it does not leave a hole in your pocket.
The guy running the place, Mr. Varun is literally the most chilled out guy in all of Manali. He loves DAVIDOFF LIGHTS, so do grab some for him if your heading there.
All meals are available at this place at super reasonable rates.
The highlight of the hostel is the common area where you can just sit and make new friends or do your own thing if that's what you'd prefer. Just don't speak in a language that the other people at the table dont understand or 10 rupees goes into the common box. And when the box collects 400, Varun gets a bottle of rum for the house. I was lucky to be a part of that special occasion.
