Phuntsok Homestay

A beautiful homestay in Tabo and probably one of the best homestays I have stayed at. Phunstsuk ji’s home is extremely comfortable and is tastefully done. Beautiful wooden ceilings and authentic interiors, it is a home away from home. The hosts are warm and ever smiling. The food is simply delicious - ranging from comfort food to authentic dishes.
They also have a beautiful backyard, probably the only home with so many beautiful flowers and such a colorful garden.
You will also find books available in the rooms - topics ranging from Tibetan culture, Buddhism, History of Tabo, fiction etc.
For anyone visiting Spiti, I highly recommend you stay here for a few days and experience the authentic way of living.

Cute little homestay situated in the centre of tabo village, the owner Baba he gave us accommodation in his own residence, the room was cozy and warm and well decorated with all the basic amenities. His house has a wonderful backyard with plants you can read a book Or chill and bask into the village life. Baba was so kind he also took us for star gazing around 2am in the night, and we were lucky to witness the milkyway. Food is homely, and tensin bhaiya who manages the entire property does a wonderful job. Very helpful warm people I highly recommend booking your stay with phunsuk home stay if you are looking to spend time in tabo.

I stayed here in August, 2022, and i had a terrible experience at it. I had initially booked a month long stay here but I barely able to stay 1 week.
I had booked a room at Phuntsoks place, however he put me up at his sister's homestay, as his place was already booked. I having placed my trust on Phuntsok, readily shifted to his sister's homestay. However, Phuntsok sister gave me such a terrible time that I had checkout by the 4th day of my month long stay.
First of all the bedsheet and comforter was so dusty that I could collect the sand particles in my hand. I asked the host (Phuntsoks sister) to replace the sheets to which she instantly refused and accused me of making unnecessary demands.
The curtain rod, which was loosely placed, came off in the second day of my stay and when I informed the host, she demanded 500rs as fine. There was no damage caused to the wall or to the rod yet the host demanded an inexplicable amount just to place the rod back up.
On all four days of my stay the host picked fights with me and placed nonsensical accusations. She behaved abnormally and lost her temper at the slightest of situation and honestly seemed mentally unbalanced.
All through 4 days of my stay Phuntsok did not step in once to help my terrible situation or control his sister from acting out.
I am terribly disappointed by Phuntsoks hospitality and would advise everyone who is booking Phuntsok to be sure that they would get to stay at Phuntsok or his sister's place. If Phuntsok provides his sister's place, then immediately cancel the booking.

I stayed there last month with my friend. The stay was very comfortable and the host was very welcoming and friendly. Everything from cutlery to beddings to books to decoration was very tasteful. Our one night stay was made memorable by the host. Food was very tasty and he even gifted me some jaggery when I mentioned that it was very tasty. Thanks Mr Phuntsok. We'll come there with our families next time.

I wish i could give more than a 5 star review for this place! A great stay place with the warmest of hosts. The place was neat and clean and the hosts tried to provide you with everything that you could ask for! I visited the homestay with my family in june 2023 and the place has our hearts. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the quite life the village has to offer! And while you are there, dont forget to omdulge in a life conversation with the host! His experiences will blow your mind!

Had a peaceful and cared stay at end of March 2023. The experienced owner shared many important knowledge about Tabo and Spiti life and culture. He is also experiences on snow leopard sightings in Spiti.

Nice place in the heart of Tabo. The location is very appropriate. The staff is very courteous. Good was good. The rooms were big and clean. Overall everything was very nice.

Phuntsok homestay was one of the best homestays where i have stayed. Right from checking in, the owner Phuntsok (Baba) for everyone and his team ensures you are taken care of well. Spacious neat rooms with attached bathrooms with hot eater are luxury during peak season in Spiti. The food was delicious. Their stay is close to the helipad in case interested in stargazing which offees an awesome view of the night sky on a clear night. Will strongly recommend them

Stayed for one night and really enjoyed it. The place is incredibly cozy and Phuntsok and his family were very nice hosts.

The hospitality, people, food and other amenities were the besttt!

The view from the hotel was just amazing. Imagine getting up from your bed and watching a wonderful sunrise with snowy mountains.

The food they served was really good and it didn't feel like getting up. They also had warm rooms, heated beds, warm water and of course a wonderful view.

The people there were very friendly and good to talk to.

They had Karaoke night, badminton, painting and 2 cutee dogs tooo.

One more positive thing about the stay was, there was a river passing by near the hotel and that sound of the flowing water was soo peaceful. You should definately check this out if you're coming to Batseri

We went during off season in February, very glad with the hospitality received in this homestay.
He has bed warmers and heater in the dining room and kitchen which is amazing.
Serves food in local kitchenware which is so amazing and that food felt home!
Room: very clean and well kept. Great view.

No wonder this place has got near perfect ratings. The hospitality is top notch. Phuntsok ji will make you feel comfortable like in home. He went out of the way to take us to nearby helipad for stargazing. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely and beautiful homestay feels like home absolutely from hospitality to interior. Host is extremely kind to helped in exploring the surrounding of the homestay. Host speaks many languages like english, hindi, nepali, himachali and lama language. Served tasty and different kind of food.

We loved this place. Rooms were nice and food were amazing. Owner will make you feel very comfortable and he also helped us with star gazing and amazing clicks.

Extremely warm host and comfortable stay

The Phuntsok homestay in tabo is hosted by Mr. Phuntsok who is one of the best hosts. He welcomed us with hot tea warm pakodas and yummy chutney followed by yummy dinner. He even took us for a walk through the village and for star gazing. Rooms are clean, spacious and cozy. Highly recommended if you want home away from home

Phunstok Homestay was truly a home away from home. Good views from the garden and walking distance from the monasteries. The food was very delicious! If you are heading to Tabo this is surely the place to stay.

Entrance to the hotel was very odd. A very narrow lane with an open drain. Very repulsive. Thats why I didn't do spot booking

Mr. Phuntsok is one of the most humble person ever met. Always smiling, great guide. Food was super delicious and authentic. He guided us for entire trip to kaza. Property was very very clean. His hospitability is so so commendable. He took us for star gazing which is approx 5 mints walking from his place. Highly recommend.
