Samaa Resorts, Chitkul Heights – Hotel Near Baspa River Himachal Pradesh

Gives you the feel of a haunted hotel which is in a very poor state without any maintenance. The view, however, is fantastic but the service is not great. Amenities are also limited, they do not have room heaters but would provide heat mattresses, some may find it comfy.

Rooms were very dirty and they were asking more money for a clean room even when the entire resort was empty. It wasn't a resort actually it was worse then home stay. Location is good but nit the property

We visited this property on the 1st week of June. This property has a good view. If you want to enjoy the view, pls ensure to book the mountain view room with balcony. Great location with easy access to market and nearby attractions. Service is excellent. Rooms and washrooms are average. A little bit more maintenance on property will be good. Bedsheet and blanket cleanliness was not good. Decent food.

The host mr manpreet singh and his wife was very good and supportive and helpful.
The staff was very hardworking
The main problem was hot water but it was provided by staff but only 1 or 2 bucket. Food was also good

The resort was absolutely mediocre, we got the room 403 the hall way was full of flies. We requested multiple times to put a fly trap and ofc that didn’t happen.

We asked for food options since the location is extremely remote we didn’t want to burden the staff with typical asks. We were told chicken is possible and the curry is something they can serve with ease. When we got the food the meat was raw and essentially inedible.

In addition to this, the staff escorted a group of 5-6 people at 12 AM next to the room and they caused insane ruckus sure it’s not the fault of the hotel however they should at least be proactive and try to maintain decorum at 1 AM

Coming to the room itself the sheets were stained along with the pillow covers, we requested the change and the moment sheets were pulled off the underlying mattress was full of dust.

We carried our own blankets and bed sheets however the staff was able to change the clean sheets though the blanket was un-usable.

The room was extremely small even for a PAX 3 and executive room was sold out

The only highlight was the view, it’s fairly clear the moment even a half decent property opens up in Chitkul samaa will 100% run out of business.

I wouldn’t recommend the resort (it isn’t really a resort it’s a building full of rooms which are horribly maintained) we opted for “the best” they had to offer and yet it was a disappointment so I can’t even imagine how horrendous the medium range rooms would be.

I think even if I was offered a room for free I wouldn’t consider staying here.cherry on top we mentioned the chicken was raw a few times and it was still billed and ofc we paid for it cuz it’s remote area etc etc.however out of courtesy a settlement could be offered it’s not really about paying for food and food being bad it’s about the gesture.

Location- best compared with other hotels
Washroom - running water was not available in first week of april, though bucket of water was provided. To warm water electric rod was provided which did not work.
Service - good

No water, no bonfire.basic room with couple of blankets and no water in bathroom.
No way this is a 3 star property.was in a very depleted state.the only positive was the staff was very hardworking but the hotel was run by bunch of kids not more that 20 years old.

The extra star is for the location.
It's surreal

However on most days water isn't available and they give buckets.
Rooms are also okayish condition
Hotel seems to be ill maintained.

The food was good though considering the remote location.

Around 7: 30 pm we reached here as we were travelling from Shimla on October 2,2022. The staff were so polite and friendly. We had issues with the TV and door lock. On mentioning about this, they took quick action and solved our problems. As we were tired they suggested us to have dinner in our room. Dinner was served hot and it was tasty. The quantity was enough for four of us. They also provided electric blankets.
The morning view from our room was breath taking.
Breakfast was also good.
After breakfast there was a power cut and we needed hot water so they also gave us an option to use another room where there was adequate hot water.
The hotel is situated near Mathi Temple just beside the Baspa River.
Overall it was a very memorable stay here. Would love to visit again.

They must have a wifi connection open for the guests as there's a lot of network issues in chhitkul.

We stayed in this property for two nights during our Christmas trip to Chitkul.the staff was wonderful and helpful even when it was -14 at nights. The bonfire was lovely and the view, simply breathtaking. Not a fancy property or best of amenities and comforts but you can't expect anything better in such extreme conditions other than welcoming people. Recommended

Perfect place to stay at chitkul. We stayed for 2 days and it was extremely good. Despite rain and tough weather, the staff put in its 100% effort to make it better.

Spectacular view along with great service. Best location in Chitkul. 270° view of the valley can be observed from the balcony. 24 hours hot water available which is necessary in Chitkul. If you are looking for the best view and great services without thinking twice opt for Samaa Resorts.

This was the second time I came to Chitkul and I can not think of staying at any other place than Samaa resort. The view from the room, food, hospitality everything is absolutely amazing. Thank you Love Sharma bhai and the whole team to make this stay yet another memorable one.

Really loved it! Nice and clean rooms, very spacious and proving a spectacular view of the valley. The staff is super friendly and helpful, acting quick on your requests. Highly recommend to anyone who's visiting Chitkul:)

Best recommendation for family, friends and any age category of people.had the most unforgettable experience at Samma in the lap of mother nature. Best location in Chitkul where you can sleep with the rythem of flowing river Baspa and wake up with the beautiful valley view from your room. Had amazing mouth watering food with super spread like pasta, momos, spring rolls, Punjabi food and even jain and gujarati options. Very warm and friendly hotel owners and managers including the staff which made the stay very comfortable. Cherry on the cake was the kennel when 4 cute dogs which kept my 11 yrs old entertained

Pros: The room had good mountain facing view. The size of the room was enough to accomodate one extra bed. Electric blanket was provided.

Cons: Costly for the type of accomodation. Cleanliness was below standard. The linen was dirty. The blankets did not have cover and were used like that unless you insist for the cover. Geyser was provided but it was switched off from a central control and we had to really fight to put it on. The caretaker gave lame excuses. Similarly electric kettle is provided but only for warming the water and no milk powder and tea bags are provided. When asked the caretaker said the milk has expired and we have not bought new packs. The water provided is directly from the tap. No filtered or mineral water is provided and we really had to insist for that. I mean looking at the charges this was too bad. The food is pricey.

Unhappy with the services.

The rooms are amazing and clean. The amenities were good. The staffs were helpful and polite. The service was good and it was on time. I will highly recommend this hotel. Do visit for a better experience.

Service is not good one waiter was there only to cater almost 15 rooms, he tried lot but still for one guy it was difficult to manage so please hire more staff. Rest things were ok

Food is awesome but as the hotel seems old, the quality of walls and textures of rooms are not upto the mark. The flies are found in room. A bad smell was continusly coming from toilet.

The room commited at time of booking was not available. Every room has some problem or other. TV, Hot water kettle, even Geyser either of it was not working and had to followup with staff many times. Discount was also offered when we insisted for giving lower class/ grade room. On of the staff shri Durjan (all call him Bat-Man) was helpful but administration was very reluctant to help. Had to call owner who sits in probably Chandigadh.

Wish they had bed warmers too.heaters were available but it didn't help much.but the provided blankets were warm enough though

Without any doubt, best place to stay in Chitkul.
Best staffs, chèf and manager (Jasvinder uncle). And best pet you'll ever encounter Bittu.
Loved every seconds of stay here.

I travelled to chitkul with my wife on 26th to 28th sep 2021. We booked a non view rom in samaa resort direct via manmeet singh ji. We must say that in a place like chitkul when you find a decent clean room with clean bathroom with geyser can be considered as best. The staff was very good and very humble, including the cook and all people.
The food was very good and normally have all regular dishes. We don't face any problem there.
The most important thing that we are short in cash because no ATM service is available in chikul.
We told the problem to manager uncle and they immediately said don't worry we will arrange the cash. We transferred the amount via gpay to him and they gave us cash. IN a remote location this is called hospitality.
We feel like home there.thank you samaa resort for a very good stay and memories. We definitely come back.

Comfortable stay. The staff & owner are very humble and courteous. Property has excellent view of the valley, ample parking space and 24*7 running hot water. The in-house food of the hotel is delicious too. They even offer wifi service too, but it's in sorry state thanks to bsnl services. Overall a good stay & would recommend it.

We stayed at Samaa on 21/22 July, 2021. Finding a comfortable stay at such a remote location is difficult.
Manmeet and Manali, the owner couple, are super hosts. They ensure that you get the best experience out of everything this property can offer.

I had a very bad experience regarding behaviour. The lady was very too rude.we faced some issues regarding booking we booked this hotel with make my trip but by mistake we canceled we called the lady regarding rebooking she asked us to pay whole amount directly to hotel but we were out of money as we already paid to mmt at that time we haven't received refund so any how we manage 2000advance to ensure the booking but when we reached we we very politely requested her to provide us one room instead of 2 as we were 3 person only.she was not ready to listen anything and suddenly started shouting at us.so we left the place immediately.it was a horrible experience because it was already late to search for another room at that time.any how we got a room at shensha hotel near by it.they provide us one room on tripple sharing which was one fourth of the room that samma resort was providing us.we didint even get single pany back from the lady that we had paid as advance.even if its the last hotel of India i would not recommend to go for it. The view from his Hotel is Amazing, the beauty of this place is just breath-taking, rooms were amazing, had an easy check-in and check-out, the food quality for all three meals were really good with good quality and quantity, all CCovid-19 protocols were followed. One of the nicest places to stay in Chitkul is Samaa Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with all of the necessary conveniences. I had a wonderful and peaceful visit!

One of best places to stay. High class resort with world class amenities. Basra Riverside is walking distance, where you can spend hours just lounging. Staff are extremely friendly.

Unlike the pictures posted on several reviews, the rooms our group stayed in were quite dirty. Sheets didn't look like they were cleaned properly. The staff members weren't wearing masks. Overall a poor experience.

Had a good experience staying at the Samaa resort. The hotel has decent interior and look considering the remote location they are situated at.

The food was delicious and service offered by staff was commendable. Ask for Kanha bhaiya and Krishna Bhaiya if u choose to stay here.

Night bonfire and listening to local pahadi songs made the experience much more pleasant

Stunning views from the hotel is a huge plus. No running water, not so clean premises is a disappointment. Location is perfect and hope they improve on the cleanliness. Staff are cooperative.

If visiting Chitkul this is the place to stay.
Very helpful stuff. Fantastic view. Good food considering the remote location.
