It's a starting point after you come out of the lift for mall road. You'll find trolleys on rent for kids, fruits sellers, ATMs, Restaurants and Cafes located near by. Your shopping starts from this place if you have come up by the lift.
I visited it on 27th March 2021, you have to strictly follow covid guidelines especially mask, Your mouth and nose should be properly covered as Policemen are on duty and they fine the people who are not adhering to it. Apart from that you can enjoy your shopping, walk, roadside food, ice-cream etc.

This is some like beauty of the Himachal. Must visit there.awesome place, awesome views, awesome wooden houses.

Loved the junction, from this point you can see the whole Ridge, a responsible and well groomed policeman can be noticed while passing by, from the same point the road to Shimla Kali Bari starts, the Town Hall and the Mall Road is just adjacent to it. Po box no 171001 of Shimla just ahead of it.

This place is heaven, and I like climate and cleanliness of this place. One of the best place for vacation.

In the daytime the views of mountains is very beautiful.you can also visit a temple from mall road which is located on the top of mountain. The distance of the temple from mall road is approx 10-14km.

Good place.  Scandal Point is located on the Mall Road. It owes its interesting name to the fact that the King of Patiala abducted the daughter of the Viceroy, because he fell in love with her, from this very place.

Mall Road is the main street in Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh,  India. Constructed during British colonial rule, the Mall road is located a level below the ridge. The offices of municipal corporation,  fire service, and police headquarters are located here. Automobiles, except emergency vehicles are not allowed on this road.

Mall Road has a number of showrooms,  department stores,  shops,  restaurants and cafes. A Himachal emporium that offers handicraft products of Himachal Pradesh like locally designed woolen clothes, branded clothes,  pottery items, wooden products, and jewellery is also located here.

Scandal Point is located to the western edge of Shimla where two of the city's most important roads, The Ridge and Mall Road, converge. This pleasant small square which is over looked by the mock-Tudor state post office has the bizarre name of Scandal Point and where there is an intriguing name there must be an equally gripping story, which sadly, can be only loosely based on facts. One of the most popular tourist attractions of Shimla, Scandal Point is the intersection between The Mall and The Ridge. This is the point where the end of the Mall Road joins the Ridge.  The very name given to this placed adds a tint of mystery to it. It has been named so after a romantic folklore. The story says that during the British Era in 1892, Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja of Patalia fell in love with the daughter of the viceroy. It is believed that the king and viceroy’s daughter eloped from this point, way back in 1892. Therefore, he was banned from entering Shimla. Later on, he founded the new summer capital of Chail for himself, which is around 45 km from Shimla. The intersection between the Mall and the Ridge from where they eloped was named Scandal Point. There is a statue of Indian freedom fighter Lala Lajapat Rai’s statue placed at the intersection today. Scandal Point is surrounded by numerous shops and restaurants. One can also enjoy horse-riding around the area, or can simply relax amid the soaring Himalayas while admiring the mesmerizing views. This area is often flocked with tourists, as Shimla is a year-round magnet. This popular tourist spot of Shimla is now a landmark too. Visit this place during any time of the year.

It's basically extension of mall road, 100 mtrs from Mall road, lot's of shops are available, very happening place and here u can see British architecture.

Very nice place, vehicles are not allowed in this road, you can enjoy a lot. Lots of benches are available to sit. Eateries and restrooms are available on the road. Sunset view from here will be awesome.

Visit here in the evening, the crowd is dancing in full zeal, the sunset you'll love it. Abd the cool breeze is so breathtakingly beautiful.

Scandal point has its own historical importance and stories. It is a point where two important road of shimla i.e ridge and mall road meets. Heritage walk of 2.5 km starts from scandal point. The walk covers india GPO, grand hotel, bantony, kali bari temple, archeological museum. Two road emerge from scandal point one is uppar side, it covers heritage walk and other is lower side. You can find army training head quarter at lower side of the road.

Nearby places to visit is kufri and jhaku temple. Jhaku temple is the temple of lord hanuman, you Can go there either by trek or by vehicle. Trek route is more preferrable if you love nature.

Lovely place. Closes at 11 Pm and is better to stay off by 9pm due to less taxi and bus availability. Good for buying sweaters jackets and for light snacks. Best place in Mall Road for Photography and Scenery.

Scandal point is where the Mall road joins Ridge road on the west side. The name arose from the commotion caused by the supposed elopement of a British lady with an Indian Maharaja. The story goes that the Maharaja of Patiala had eloped with the daughter of the British Viceroy. This had led to the Maharaja being banished from entering Shimla by the British authorities. He countered the move by setting himself a new summer capital – now famous hill resort of Chail, 45 km from Shimla.  The most prominent feature of the point today is a statue of the Indian freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai  (no relation to the scandal). Next to Scandal Point is the General Post Office, Shimla.
